the 2nd of 3 wrestlers to ever go back back to back Royal Rumble wins. Hogan did this first winning 90 and 91. Shawn won 95 and 96 while Austin won 97 and 98. No other wrestlers have come close to winning back to back Rumbles. All the while, it was much more difficult for Shawn to win 96 coming back from a lower back injury. His was the most impressive and the most emotional win.
@MrMolmem I must disagree. The worst Rumble period was 1988 when Hacksaw Jim Duggan won the rumble. He staggers up, pulls the ropes down so the other guy can go over-and-out. At least Shawn won this Rumble along with the previous rumble by actually doing something.
@MrMolmem I respectfully disagree, the worst was 95, the reason being is that because the time in between entrants was shortened to 1 minute, a lot of guys were eliminated way too fast and there was hardly any time to build anything up, if a guy came in with momentum he hardly had any time to establish it. Plus the famous finish from that years rumble was an accident, shawn michaels feet weren't supposed to touch at all, they barely saved themselves a hell of a problem.

He's carried a company for nearly an entire decade where as HBK only carried it between Wrestlemania 12 and 13. Best Royal Rumble ever. I really thought Vader was going to win because I didn't have the dirt sheets at the time (I got them in mid 96) and had no knowledge that the plan was to have Bret vs HBK at WM 12.

@basdemanaz as much as i love shawn, he really should hav been eliminated since. cuz in 2005 i think kurt angle was eliminated and came back in and eliminated shawn. i know this was b4 2005. oh and in 2009 big show eliminated undertaker from outside the ring

hbk two years in a row!! hbk almost won the 2007 royal rumble match too but he was defeated by the undertaker and this year he almost won too but batista eliminated him =(

What was the point of Shawn winning like that? It would be much more entertaining watching Shawn and Diesel brawl n then have a winner rather than Shawn kicking him out right away like that.
I guess Shawn was trying to look out for his Kliq member and making him look not bad. I mean if Shawn overpowered Diesel in the ring to win, that would be worse than Diesel not expecting it and getting kicked out.
