when I want to paint it doesn't work! I do all the right setting and stuff but when I finally want to paint on my character no paint comes out from the pencil. I've tried chaning almost all the settings but nothing works!
@Vaylemn It works for most people. I am not sure with the limited information what the problem could be. please check once more and let em know what exactly is the issue and I will try to help you.
@Vaylemn did you add a UV color layer and tell Blender to use the Vertex colors? Around 3:09 of the video. Also make sure you have the vertices selected. No faces no painting.
Very good artistic work!!! What's the difference between the texture paint and the vertex paint? And in first case, how to paint Straight lines? or other feature of precision tipical of GIMP and PS software?
It's not the same but Blender have some other tool and shortkey for facilitare the paint work?
ok i use this in my workflow the blender texture paint is not like a GIMP, but now i can have with texture paint, a base map for work in GIMP. No layout export and more work...only create texture with the texture paint, a simple text then work with GIMP, fast and no layout boring ... fast, convenient and clean, good for me.

At least Steven was old enough to drive. Don't get me wrong I am oddily enough 13 also. I just find it fairly hard to believe a 13 year old owns an entertainment company.
I'm having the same problem as others...the vertex paint is NOT showing up, when in object mode or while rendering, even though I'm following instructions. I've got the newest version of Blender (for windows Vista 64 bit)
hey i clicked the vertec paint thing at the begining of the video and did all the painting the way u said then when i put it in object mode it all goes away its just one plane color i know that im not just painting one color cuase it shows up red and the things green what do i do
Tubie, If you duplicated an object in Object mode it should be separated by default.
If you duplicated it is edit mode, go to edit mode select the parts you want separated and press P>Separate> Selected, that makes those faces a new object.
Wow !! then why would we need to buy Photoshop cs4 with 3D painting capabilities?? I think Blender is surprising me everyday more.. but how to learn it ???
Dude you rock! i watch the secound video on your homepage, it was realy good tutorials and your voice is good for it and all! nice! on thing, i found it a lite bit tricky to find the videos there, mabey you shuld ad a link on the menu? cheers!
If u can't paint in vertex painting go to materials, and then place a checkmark on Vertex Color Paint.
Thumbs up.

how can i unwrap my vertex painting as a texture so I can UVMap it to a lowpoly version?
Tazy50 1 year ago
@Tazy50 You should have an unwrap done already. Just save the painted texture and apply it to you mesh as a texture. :)

@dipingo ok cool thanks man!

Why can't i paint on my material without replacing the whole color of the material?
neverhoodyn 1 year ago
@neverhoodyn because the opacity you set is 100
87108336 1 year ago
hmm, when i enable Vertex color on the material the whole material becomes bleak.

Texture paint lets you paint on the UV face, vertex paint is limited to vertex.
Straight lines: No you can't make straight lines like in Photoshop, but you can select faces and paint only on them.

2 points:
1. Ur obviously lying because you have horrible grammar for the co founder of this fake entertainment company.
2. What the hell kinda 13 year old co founds an entertainment company? You don't even have a drivers license yet.

NCWEntertainment 2 years ago
just push shift and t and the lighing will fix in shader mode
so you can see the model
withinthetruth 2 years ago
I'm having the same results. In Vertex Paint mode i see my newly applied color. But it doesnt show up in Shaded Mode or Rendered.
0gnaws0 2 years ago
@0gnaws0 In MATERIAL click "VCol Paint"
hekama 2 years ago
my actual problem is that the vertex paint paint all de model, and not the parts i want, so i only get to do one color all over the model.
VillaBlender 2 years ago
Now I'm starting to get it. Looks like you gotta hit the "shading" button, then the "VCol Paint " button, for the vertex paint to show up.

supacrazyguitarhero 3 years ago
Please make sure you have "VCol Paint" button selected under the Materials Panel. That tells Blender to use vertex paint for the material.
To get to that panel select your object and hit F5 then look under the materials panel.

thanks alot!
