@OneWayRawk I don't get why you think "Camouflage" sounds like a typical Nashville pop-country song. It sounds like something from the 90's, like something you would've heard by Garth Brooks or Sawyer Brown, not modern "crossover" country Keith Urban or Rascal Flatts. Also, why does the lyric bother you so much? You're really this ticked about a song lyric that is slightly historically inaccurate? The whole point of being a songwriter is being creative, not historical. It's about having fun.
@dlbennett223--The whole point of being a songwriter is being creative, not historical? So, just write whatever you want to write whether it's true or not? Wow...enough said. By the way, as I mention before. I'm not "ticked" about this song. I made this video 3 months ago and left it at that. I'm not thinking about this song in my every day life just "ticked" off every moment of the day LOL---
oh lord...there are so many things wrong with this video it's unbelievable. if you're gonna attempt to correct a celebrity and represent people of the south, be articulate. paisley wasn't putting down a flag, he was simply saying some people are offended by it and he understands. it wasn't his take on the flag that suggested it was offensive. additionally if you're going to list things don't say "1st of all" and follow it with "third" i think you missed a number in there.
@bootsandbrains---Paisley was saying that he can see how people may be offended by it and he can see why....my problem is instead of just putting the Confederate Battle Flag away....lets teach people. Let us educate folks so that they will know the facts and the truth...not to just put the flag away and wear Camouflage. That's just stupid. I don't know which part of the video where I skipped over "second" but if I did...oh well. That's life. You still got the point of the video.
@OneWayRawk yes i agree that the flag shouldn't be put away because it does have some very impressive historical significance. but I think you may have went too far on Paisley. This song was meant to be lighthearted. It's not a political statement. It's just stirring the pot for no reason.
@bootsandbrains---I just pointed out the fact that he pointed out the wrong flag and he put that in a song for the whole world to hear. That's terrible...and I just wanted to make a video (in which I did) to point out (in which I did) the fact that Brad has no idea what he is talking about (and he don't)---that's the whole point of the video. That's it. The song may be light hearted but the topic of our Southern flag is not especially when he sings about the WRONG ONE!!
@OneWayRawk I forgot this video even existed. Listen, you're getting upset over something that isn't a big deal. I don't know what you mean by the wrong flag. There were literally hundreds of flags that represented the CSA in some way. The stars and bars, however, is the most recognized of these (as seen by the background of your video) and has been subjected to a LOT of controversy including usage by the KKK, hence the line "The stars and bars offend some folks and I guess I see why".
@playaninja1---Did you watch my video? The "Stars and Bars" is not the flag behind me---That's Confederate Battle Flag---The "Stars and Bars" was the first National Flag of the CSA which looks nothing like the Battle Flag. That's the point of this video to show Brad and folks like you who might be confused on this subject. I'm not upset to be honest with you. I made this video several months ago and left it at that. I don't go around everyday thinking about this subject! LOL
I can see why you would be offended. The only thing I didn't agree with is you saying that he titled his album wrong, and that you were saying that that's not country music.Country music has evolved over, even over the last decade, to get the younger generations to listen to it.And I don't see it getting away from pop-country for a long time because so many people like it.
If he is from WV and has those views on the flag, then he is not a southern man. He is probably a fake redneck because he has a song called Camoflouge and thinks he is southern because he is somewhat country. Being southern is about your personality and your views, not whether you hunt or wear camo.
@vikkingg20: not all rednecks are inbredthat is a fuckin sterotype that moronic people such as yourself put on us southern people. so next time you say somethin like thatyou might want to think about that.Thanks.
I'm from S.C and i agree the flag is heritage not hate, but the flag in your video, even though it is now known as the confederate flag, is not the battle flag. the battle flag is square not rectangular. it also is not the naval jack but resembles the it. the naval jack's blue in the cross was a lighter blue. the flag you are talking about, although used in some units in tennesee, never officially represented the C.S.A.
I just hope you make good moonshine because you're not very good at making a point. Of course Nashville sucks, so does most all of the "music" that radio tries to feed us. It's all manufactured.
Wow Viking20 learn to spell it is Write not wrote you moronic idiot. As said in previous comment we are smarter than you think, and we are not inbred. So get your facts straight, learn to spell, and enjoy your life. Enough said.
Glad to know that I am not the only one who noticed this mistake in the song...& for you RUDE people he took time to explain this for YOUR benifit!!!!! & Vikkingg20 that is a HUGE stereotype I live in rural Tennessee and I do not know anyone who is inbred southerners are actually smarter than northerners in our own way, we can do things you could NEVER imagine with just things from nature. just like how northeners can tell you stuff bout the city
Dude, stop looking for stuff wrong with songs, it's a song and if it bothers you that much then dont listen to it, but us that realize it's just a song don't want these kind of videos cloggin up our youtube.
@playaninja1---I'm not looking for anything wrong. I was just listening to the radio and I noticed that he mention the wrong flag..so I made a video to show others so they wont mistaken the flag for what Brad assumed that it was That's just that. You don't like then don't watch. You already knew what kind of video this was going to be by the title of the video--You knew what you were getting yourself into before hand. Don't blame me but yourself for clicking on something you really didn't want to
Deo Vindice, my friends! WOOOO! I'm ao stoked to find some folks that feel the same way. From the land of cotton and deep in Forrest country, God bless the South!
The Confederate flag is not a sign of hatred and it doesn't mean you're racist if you fly it. It's a sign of heritage! I will proudly fly the flag!!!!!!!
Personally, I don't think it's right to criticize the artist of a song because I'm sure most artists have no idea what they're singing about. I was born and raised in the south and I had NO idea that there was different Confederate flags. Does that make me not southern? No. However, I appreciate the history lesson! Now I know! And I agree, the Confederate flag is not a sign of hatred and it doesn't mean you're racist if you fly it. It's a sign of heritage! I will proudly fly both flags!
well said, man you make complete sense and know what your talking about. Im not from the south but there is a part of that always want to stand up the south and i truly respect you, your views, and this video that you made. God bless
I enjoyed your video, as a southerner and something of a history buff. I also noticed the lyrics, but discounted the error as just lyrics thrown into a song intended for mass appeal to the current "pop country" audience as you put it. I'm a West Virginian, currently living near Philippi (site of the first actual land battle of the Civil War, forgotten by history) and very close to the home of Gen. Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson. It amazes me, the history we are taught is far removed from fact.
I agree with OneWayRawk country music nowadays isn't country, it's a disgusting mixture of pop and country. Pop in my opinion is crap, and not a lot better than rap. My family doesn't notice it. My local "country" radio station plays stuff that is not country, I guess just to get more views, which is crap. People tune into the station to listen to country not a mixture. Compare a Hank Williams song what's playing on the radios nowadays and the difference is phenomenal.
@vikingsfan1979----I disagree with you. People do care. You may not care but that does not mean that nobody else does. Look at the "Likes" on the video...there are more likes then dislikes..people do care and do agree with what is said in this video.
ok....I hope you realize that most people associate that flag with the negativety that came along with it, as in the Northern eyes at that time. When he says "well the stars and bars offend some folks and I guess I'd see why..." he is meaning the association the people of the northern states see in that flag, nobody cares about the name, when he says that, like yourself, many people know what flag he is talking about. It's called using your God given brain to put the pieces together NOBODY CARES
@CHELSEAfcXXX----Here is my problem with the song. If you think the "Stars and Bars" might offend some folks...then educate them and tell 'em the truth. Don't just put the flag to the side and wear Camouflage. That's just pathetic. I'm sorry...we need to educate people. If somebody would just use their "God given brain" (as you say) then they will see that everything that happened under the Confederate Flag happened under the USA Flag...only it happened longer under USA Flag. By the way..I care.
@OneWayRawk I wear a battle flag patch above a C.S.A seal patch on the right arm of my multicam T.R.U shirt, got a Don't Tread On Me flag patch flying on the left arm. I wear it everywhere too. Need to get me a Florida flag patch and a blood stained national one of these days.
@JessieMessi---I'm giving "Southern People" a bad name when I actually know our History? No, I'm sorry but I disagree with you. Brad is giving Southern People a bad name...before you record a song talking about a "certain" flag....make sure you know which flag that you are talking about.
@gogdee---Hey, the Artist is Celtic Confederate. You can look him up on Youtube! I actually made a video out of one of his songs called "Raise Your Battleflags"---He has ALOT of talent!!
@OneWayRawk oh well, pop country has the word country in it, therefore it is country. i understand some dont like the newer country music, but you dont need to go give a two minute speech on how you hate it. im not a big fan of the newer country either, but its a fun song and a happy one. you just cant expect to say you hate the song and have everyone agree with you. keep your mouth shut and your opinions to yourself and go about with your life. you dont like the song, dont listen to it.
@Reaghgaighne---I love your attitude!! :0)---You tell me that I should keep my mouth shut when it comes to my opinion on different matters yet you have no problem telling me how you feel about me or this video. The difference between me and you is I think you have the right to speak your mind. You like the song? Good. That's your choice. I don't and that's my choice. I disagree with you but I would never tell you to "keep your mouth shut...and go about your life"---I'm just a tad bit nicer :0)
@OneWayRawk Thanks for the compliment. No, i understand you have the right to speack your opinions, but you had to have expected arguments? What i mean buy go about with your life is that if you come upon something that you dont like, you dont need to make sure everyone knows. you honestly could not have expected eerryone to agree with you, and for no one to argue.
@OneWayRawk I do believe you have the right to speak your mind, but be smart about it, dont just go blabber without thinking of the conciquinces first. i dont mean to be mean about it, but sometimes, your opinion should be kept to yourself.
@Reaghgaighne---I do expect people to disagree with me and I'm ok with that. This is a huge world and we all have different sets of opinions. If you disagree with me then that's your point. That does not both me the least bit. I think you should share your opinions on my video if you are against whether it's through video or even through these comments. I would never tell you to keep your mouth shut. That's the difference between me and you...I want you to share your thoughts
@OneWayRawk Okay good...we've come a to a conclusion. because, frankly, i was getting bored with the back and forth stuff. anyway, that may be the difference, you want every one to share their thoughts with you, good, im more of a, i dont want an argument to break out kind of girl...im quite stubborn when it comes to arguments as you can tell...thats all. anyway, i see your point, i disagree, i believe that brad is still a southern man, knowlege of flag or not, but i really am tired of argueing.
@Reaghgaighne---I don't want to have an argument either. I believe both people that disagree on a topic are able to come together and tell each other side and walk away. That's the way I see things...and if more folks were able to do that then there would be more peace in this world. You think Brad is still a true 100% Southern man and I don't because he does not know the difference in the Southern Flags..End of the Story--We spoke and now we go about our own merry way :0) Life is Goooood!
I understand your opinion on the flags and the names and stuff, but honestly is it that big of a deal? you know which one he is addressing so dont go all inslutive on him. I think that brad paisely is pure country. and whether its pop country or swamp country, its country. plus, its happy, upbeat, and it aint depressing. thats all there is to it. i can dance and sing this song with a smile on my face and that is all i care about.
@Reaghgaighne--Yes it's a big deal. Folks today look at flags from the past...as just that. The Past. I'm sure glad that there are alot of other folks that are standing up for our Heritage all over the South whether it's children or Adults. If you are going to point out and target a certain flag..make sure you pick the right flag out. If you think the flag could offend somebody and shouldnt..instead of putting it away as the song suggest..go out and educate the people on the truth with the flag.
@OneWayRawk Okay, agreed if youre gonna bring up a flag its good to have the name right. but my problem is the title of your video. yes he got the flag wrong. your opinions on what you should do about a flag that offends may be different but dont say that he aint a southern man. whether hes from west virginia or texas, its not your origin its your heart. i dont think you should be going about with your opinions. everyone has different opinions i suggest dealin with it instead of hatin on paisley
@Reaghgaighne---If somebody that was born in the United States yet in his/her 30's had no idea what the American Flag looked like...wouldnt you say something along the lines "Are you not an American..." or "Are you really an American"----that's what I'm saying. If Paisley was such a Southern man then he would know the difference between Stars and Bars and Battle Flag---it's simple.
@OneWayRawk The American Flag...that is not the case here. We are talking about the Confederate flags that are not very popular anymore. Im a southern girl and didnt even know that each flag had its own little name...i knew them as the COnfederate flags...whther he knows them or not does not change the fact that he is southern. ts not knowlege nor origin, its your heart.
@basketballgurrl11---I'm racist? You just told me that I don't need to tell somebody who they are..then you turn right around and call me racist? Yes, you make alot of sense. The CSA was NOT fighting for slavery. Did you know The Union Army protected slavery in Maryland, Delaware, Missouri, Kentucky and elsewhere in the South like Louisiana and Tennessee until slavery was abolished by the Thirteenth Amendment in 1865? Yes the Union. You are mad because you are a Paisley fan. You want to continue?
Thanks so much for making this video in response to Paisleys stupid song...Defend your Heritage...Yesterday and Today...He should write a song about Mexican Nationals (Illegals) walking down our streets wrapped in their flag, in our Country..Taking our jobs..Instead of bashing our Flag. Yankee..
I like sharing your videos with people I hang around. I realized that a lot of people refer to the Confederate battle flag as Stars and Bars. It sends out the wrong message when they do so. Brad just added to the ignorance that people have towards the flag. Thank you for your videos. :)
cant stand pop country. it aint country, its pop music with what they think is "twang". give me some hank jr. or some haggard instead. and i hate people sayin the confederate flag is about hate. people call me a racist and a traitor to our country just cuz i have em displayed, i tell em its about heritage and pride, but of course they dont understand a single word of it, they just block out every word i say.
Im curious, Do you think the South was better off being part of the Union?? Sure the South Seceded but in the long term this might have held the U.S back in terms of a Nation. Further Im torn on the idea that the Confederacy and Civil War had nothing to do with slavery, in some instances the South was coming to a pont where it did not need slavery, on the other hand the South used Slavery as a way to keep Northern Industry out of the South.
@jrpone---I think the South was better off not being in the Union. I disagree with you that the South used slavery as a way to keep the Northern Industry out of the South just based on the fact that during the War the North still had slavery as well. Jefferson Davis said it best "We just wanted to be let alone"---The War came down the money---the South was making more money then the Union and was being taxed waaay more. The South after several years of this knew it was time to go.
@OneWayRawk Well I think had the Union left the South alone eventually the South would rejoined the union. Anyway to the North having slavery you are correct but majority of its economy was industry. Ive always thought that the south began to use slavery as a scape goat to keep Northern Industry out the south, but I don't have any hard proof of this other than the fact that after the civil war we see Railroad industry etc. built in the South. I hope to have more conversations with you buddy..
iagree some what but i think that brad is more country than taylor.i just think that song got upbeat fell of country from the 90's.some people say that there alot of pop country singers yea they are but the real country singers are comingback.like justin moore, eric church, jamey johnson, randy houser, jason aldean, luke bryan.and they still play alot of 90's country the radio to.but i think ppl want country to go back to the 70's and 80's yes it was good but some of the songs back then soundedpop

About my last comment I accidentally said Hank jr was dead in a strange sort of way. I am sorry I was half asleep. The king of.coubtry lives on!!!! OWR you are right don't talk down on our flag if you don't know which one you are talkin about
No offense man but when you tell people you believe in god you discredit yourself. Once god is mentioned us rational people who can call bullshit when they see it kind of second guess everything you say.
Well I mean, the general consensus is the reason people hate on the Confederate Battle Flag is that it supposedly represented "slavery". What those people who believe that don't understand is that it was not that flag that flew on the ships that brought those people over here. The flag they should be hating on is the American Flag. That was the flag that flew over those ships. People are ignorant, they don't know the facts.
I feel likethe south is the largest parr of the country that is vastly misunderstood. I own a confederate flag, but I am not a racist and I sure never called it the stars and bars. Cash Hank jr and senior are rollin in their graves hearing "country now. It is sad, they either hate us or wanna be us. Learn some things about the south before you piss off 100 million people!!!
@RiverBirch1967---Thank you Mam! I appreciate you taking the time to watch my video...I have several more so feel free to look around when you have time. CC is a good buddy of mine...we are starting a Sons of Confederate Veterans Camp...so be on a look out in the future for a video on that! :0)
@OneWayRawk You have just earned my utmost respect. I hope you and your wife don't mind me calling you "hon" because that's part of my heritage and meant only for those I respect, as a form of affection (but in total respect). So hon, keep it up. I have watched 3 of your vids tonight and tomorrow plan to watch more. CC being your good friend is a high recommendation. I think the world of him. Staring your own camp... BRAVO!!!!!!

people at my school call it the "stars and bars" to i hate it cuz i know its not but this gonna sound really stupid what is it called anyway i thought it was referd to as "the rebel" but im not sure so im gonna ask so i do
Kid Rock did almost the EXACT same thing. In the lyrics to his song "Sugar" he says "I like stars and bars but I ain't no Nazi" so I guess ignorance of Southern Heritage is a common occurrence nowadays.
one more thing sir...after watching this vid the first time, i spent several minutes listening to some old paisley favs of mine before comming back here and leaving my first comment...i want to thank you sir....for reminding me what an incredibly awesome baladeer he is and how great some of his music is...( not all of it, he has some really shit songs too)
i just went and listened to the song...i love BP, but some of his songs are..well..bubble gummy..but he's an incredible artist....i almost doubt he wrote that song, but if he did, so be it. i just think sometimes guys as passionate about this stuff as you are offended by that line in the song, when in reality my friend, 99.9% of the listening audience of music probably would disagree with you here...me personally.....it's just a song, i dont think BP is trying to make any statements
@BigVOLdaddy ps..i hate the song too..but not because of that line, because i think the song sucks balls....i like his stuff he does like " she's everything " and " he didnt have to be "
@BigVOLdaddy---You don't think Brad Paisley is trying to make a statement? He said/sung that he can see why the "stars and bars" can offend some folks so here is another way to show our southern pride.....my thing is...he pointed out the wrong flag...and on top of that. If you know that some folks may be offended by the "stars and bars" then correct them and tell them the truth. Don't just say...ok well let's put the flag to the side and show off our camouflage! LOL...just stupid man!
Man my brother has been wanting me to hear that song, he though I would like it I have not idea why. I have heard the song and I don't like it at all. I hate it too. I'm with you.
I just listened to about twenty seconds of the song and had to exit out. That was terrible, I wish they would put that under "Pop Country" and leave real country music to its own category.
@ProductsofXplode well if you like the up beat country music from the 90,sthen i dont see why you would not like this. why do ppl always judge a country singer by one dam song all this pop country stuff ppl talking yea they are alot of them but they are also alot of real ones to.now days if the singer has 1 song that sounds pop then hes not country.well if you go back to some old country some of it even sounded pop but no one talks bout that!
@NYredneck17---Alot of his songs does have the same type of sound to 'em. Thank you man for watching the video. I just found out about the song and just had to make a video...not just because of his view point on our flag but the fact that he called out the wrong one.
another thing he talks about in the song is a chevy cavalier being painted camouflage.now i know chevy is america n and everything but lets face it caveliers are sh!t.it he should have talked about z71 or f150 being painted camo.
Brad is from West Virginia; that's the North, not the South. I wish people wouldn't define the South by the census, but by historical and cultural standards. I hate how people say my state of Missouri isn't Southern because of the census. We didn't stop fighting the North until Jesse James died in 1882.
@LukeWapelhorst I consider WV to be a Southern state. Not because of the census, but because most of the state is culturally, geographically and historically Southern. Many West Virginians fought for the Confederacy, including the Hatfield family, which had a problem with the McCoy's for being Union veterans. The Northern Panhandle, which made the political maneuver to have WV in the Union, is pro-Yankee. And Paisley happens to be from there, hence the lame scalawag PC attitude.
@LiveBaiter3900---Woah! I have to say out of all my comments that has been posted on my "Southern Heritage" videos...that's the best one right there! Man, I'm so proud of you for going to College and for going to study the history of The War Between The States...I wish you the best of luck man. Comments like that is why I make these kind of videos!
@lawtide1x---I agree with you man. That's why I don't listen to the radio anymore. Pop Country is the only thing coming out of Nashvegas this day in time.
The Confederate flag is not a sign of hatred and it doesn't mean you're racist if you fly it. It's a sign of heritage! I will proudly fly the flag!!!!!!!
dixieboy29 2 months ago
Personally, I don't think it's right to criticize the artist of a song because I'm sure most artists have no idea what they're singing about. I was born and raised in the south and I had NO idea that there was different Confederate flags. Does that make me not southern? No. However, I appreciate the history lesson! Now I know! And I agree, the Confederate flag is not a sign of hatred and it doesn't mean you're racist if you fly it. It's a sign of heritage! I will proudly fly both flags!

It amazes me, the history we are taught is far removed from fact.
cerealkiller1124 2 months ago
I agree with OneWayRawk country music nowadays isn't country, it's a disgusting mixture of pop and country. Pop in my opinion is crap, and not a lot better than rap. My family doesn't notice it. My local "country" radio station plays stuff that is not country, I guess just to get more views, which is crap. People tune into the station to listen to country not a mixture. Compare a Hank Williams song what's playing on the radios nowadays and the difference is phenomenal.

@vikingsfan1979: People care! More so than about, say football...Know what I mean?
MrHorsenaround 2 months ago
ok....I hope you realize that most people associate that flag with the negativety that came along with it, as in the Northern eyes at that time.
CHELSEAfcXXX 2 months ago
@CHELSEAfcXXX----Here is my problem with the song. If you think the "Stars and Bars" might offend some folks...then educate them and tell 'em the truth. Don't just put the flag to the side and wear Camouflage. That's just pathetic. I'm sorry...we need to educate people. If somebody would just use their "God given brain" (as you say) then they will see that everything that happened under the Confederate Flag happened under the USA Flag...only it happened longer under USA Flag. By the way..I care.

@Reaghgaighne---I never said all of his songs are Pop Country...but this one is and several others as well.
OneWayRawk 2 months ago
@OneWayRawk oh well, pop country has the word country in it, therefore it is country. i understand some dont like the newer country music, but you dont need to go give a two minute speech on how you hate it. im not a big fan of the newer country either, but its a fun song and a happy one. you just cant expect to say you hate the song and have everyone agree with you. keep your mouth shut and your opinions to yourself and go about with your life. you dont like the song, dont listen to it.
Reaghgaighne 2 months ago
@Reaghgaighne---I love your attitude!! :0)---You tell me that I should keep my mouth shut when it comes to my opinion on different matters yet you have no problem telling me how you feel about me or this video. The difference between me and you is I think you have the right to speak your mind. You like the song? Good. That's your choice. I don't and that's my choice. I disagree with you but I would never tell you to "keep your mouth shut...and go about your life"---I'm just a tad bit nicer :0)
OneWayRawk 2 months ago
@OneWayRawk Thanks for the compliment. No, i understand you have the right to speack your opinions, but you had to have expected arguments? What i mean buy go about with your life is that if you come upon something that you dont like, you dont need to make sure everyone knows. you honestly could not have expected eerryone to agree with you, and for no one to argue.
Reaghgaighne 2 months ago
@OneWayRawk I do believe you have the right to speak your mind, but be smart about it, dont just go blabber without thinking of the conciquinces first. i dont mean to be mean about it, but sometimes, your opinion should be kept to yourself.
Reaghgaighne 2 months ago
@Reaghgaighne---I do expect people to disagree with me and I'm ok with that. This is a huge world and we all have different sets of opinions. If you disagree with me then that's your point. That does not both me the least bit. I think you should share your opinions on my video if you are against whether it's through video or even through these comments. I would never tell you to keep your mouth shut. That's the difference between me and you...I want you to share your thoughts
OneWayRawk 2 months ago
@OneWayRawk Okay good...we've come a to a conclusion. because, frankly, i was getting bored with the back and forth stuff. anyway, that may be the difference, you want every one to share their thoughts with you, good, im more of a, i dont want an argument to break out kind of girl...im quite stubborn when it comes to arguments as you can tell...thats all. anyway, i see your point, i disagree, i believe that brad is still a southern man, knowlege of flag or not, but i really am tired of argueing.
Reaghgaighne 2 months ago

Reaghgaighne 2 months ago
@Reaghgaighne--Yes it's a big deal. Folks today look at flags from the past...as just that. The Past. I'm sure glad that there are alot of other folks that are standing up for our Heritage all over the South whether it's children or Adults. If you are going to point out and target a certain flag..make sure you pick the right flag out. If you think the flag could offend somebody and shouldnt..instead of putting it away as the song suggest..go out and educate the people on the truth with the flag.
OneWayRawk 2 months ago
@OneWayRawk Okay, agreed if youre gonna bring up a flag its good to have the name right. but my problem is the title of your video. yes he got the flag wrong. your opinions on what you should do about a flag that offends may be different but dont say that he aint a southern man. whether hes from west virginia or texas, its not your origin its your heart. i dont think you should be going about with your opinions. everyone has different opinions i suggest dealin with it instead of hatin on paisley
Reaghgaighne 2 months ago
@Reaghgaighne---If somebody that was born in the United States yet in his/her 30's had no idea what the American Flag looked like...wouldnt you say something along the lines "Are you not an American..." or "Are you really an American"----that's what I'm saying. If Paisley was such a Southern man then he would know the difference between Stars and Bars and Battle Flag---it's simple.
OneWayRawk 2 months ago
@OneWayRawk The American Flag...that is not the case here. We are talking about the Confederate flags that are not very popular anymore. Im a southern girl and didnt even know that each flag had its own little name...i knew them as the COnfederate flags...whther he knows them or not does not change the fact that he is southern. ts not knowlege nor origin, its your heart.
Reaghgaighne 2 months ago
@basketballgurrl11---I'm racist? You just told me that I don't need to tell somebody who they are..then you turn right around and call me racist? Im curious, Do you think the South was better off being part of the Union?? Sure the South Seceded but in the long term this might have held the U.S back in terms of a Nation. Further Im torn on the idea that the Confederacy and Civil War had nothing to do with slavery, in some instances the South was coming to a pont where it did not need slavery, on the other hand the South used Slavery as a way to keep Northern Industry out of the South.
jrpone 3 months ago
@jrpone---I think the South was better off not being in the Union. I disagree with you that the South used slavery as a way to keep the Northern Industry out of the South just based on the fact that during the War the North still had slavery as well. Jefferson Davis said it best "We just wanted to be let alone"---The War came down the money---the South was making more money then the Union and was being taxed waaay more. The South after several years of this knew it was time to go.
OneWayRawk 3 months ago
@OneWayRawk Well I think had the Union left the South alone eventually the South would rejoined the union. Anyway to the North having slavery you are correct but majority of its economy was industry. Ive always thought that the south began to use slavery as a scape goat to keep Northern Industry out the south, but I don't have any hard proof of this other than the fact that after the civil war we see Railroad industry etc. built in the South. I hope to have more conversations with you buddy..

Brad is from West Virginia; that's the North, not the South. I wish people wouldn't define the South by the census, but by historical and cultural standards. I hate how people say my state of Missouri isn't Southern because of the census. We didn't stop fighting the North until Jesse James died in 1882.
LukeWapelhorst 4 months ago 3
@LukeWapelhorst I consider WV to be a Southern state. Not because of the census, but because most of the state is culturally, geographically and historically Southern. Many West Virginians fought for the Confederacy, including the Hatfield family, which had a problem with the McCoy's for being Union veterans. The Northern Panhandle, which made the political maneuver to have WV in the Union, is pro-Yankee. And Paisley happens to be from there, hence the lame scalawag PC attitude.
