@mrjohnshaft1975 --no they weren't--you can hear Rudolph singing on living in the life--NOT identical--only ronnie sang the ballads with that sweet sound--what are you? 15?
@iamthequeenbee100 its documented. O'Kelly sang "Let me down Easily" And Queen Much Older than 15....check it out! Rudolph also sang lead on a few verses of some songs
@mrjohnshaft1975 --maybe it was documented wrong--did you see it on tv? I never saw anyone sing the high stuff except Ronald--sorry about that 15 comment--we should be able to discuss these things without sniping. Now you have me wondering....(at least you did not tell me it was a beatle or something singing like Ronald)
@mrjohnshaft1975 --my sister says she saw Ronnie sing this in concert-Kelly did not sing it--Ronnie did so what documentation says Kelly sang lead instead of Ronnie? I have the album and am looking at it--it is not on the album--I saw the Isley brothers in concert many times (I can't remember them singing Let me down easy) at the concerts I went to--but whenever I saw them--the falsetto/tenor was always Ronnie--the bass, etc--Rudolph and others--my sis would know and she says Ronnie sang it
@mrjohnshaft1975 "it's documented" Ever hear of typos? Just because something is in writing does not make it true. I know that on "it's our thing" 1969 on the T neck label produced by Buddah records, Ronnie is described as the "vocalizer" for the group---note that the instruments are always listed on the albums but who sings in any capacity is not listed--but in concert--it was always Ronald--always--on the high parts--kelly and others on the deeper parts NEVER Ronnie.
These brothers will give men the chills... And not on some homo type stuff, but no group could rock the spot like the Isley Brothers.. Peace to their entire family,
For those that do not know, The similarity that you hear in Ernie to Jimmy Hendrix is no coinkydink. Jim was their first guitar player and is a distant relative.
@chuckiesfest21 --to do what? It was before blacks did gymnastics instead of dancing--and before there was video for whites to spend months studying and copying the aerobics set to music that passes for a lot of dancing these days--if they got on back in the day--what were supposed to do whip their hair back and forth out of beat to the music?
Don't forget to add Eddie Hazel to that line-up...and yes, I am jealous. I was born in 1979 so I missed that whole era, well, at least in this body :P Mx
@MsMerising Hey, i just downloaded Eddie Hazel's "California Dreamin".. The dude is a monster...!!! lol Hey reminds me of Bootsy, with that bassline..
If you read the comments below you'll see I was ciphering with a brotha about great guitarists and bassists where he happened to mention Bootsy (who as we both know is a bassist). Ernie Isley is the BUSINESS and yes, am well aware that the bassist Bootsy is NOT Ernie, lol... :P Mx
I always wanted to see them to this.... "Midnight sky ..the moon is a quater...lay low ..south of the boarder..I know when I awaken...that I have taken more than moon means more in a jar....I have know sence of direction ...when lovin you I have know direction of time.....cold yall...I really didn't understand the song when I first started playoin it.....but I knew if I kept playing it I was gone get it......broke the tape....played it so much...my passengers stay complimenting my music
@sometimes350 --moon beams not moon means--moon beams in a jar is in reference to a popular song out in the 1960s--"would you like to swing on a star--carry moonbeams home in a jar..."
@bronxbabi100 I don't know about you but I feel sooo lucky to have grown up in the 70's. The Isley Bros. are my favorite group of all time. I've always loved the rock element in their music. What a group.
that suit ronald have on is too clean...i need to find one lol...that big guy was always crunk... please whoever post all of these soultrain videos keep em comin!!
I've never heard this before--even though I was born in '70--and this is one very cool song.
