  • With excel I'm trying to generate Spanish sentences that consist of 3 parts; subject, verb, direct object (ex. You teach Excel). Using IF functions, I'm successfully creating sentences with multiple subjects, dozens of verbs & hundreds of DO's. But some don't make sense (ex. the dog reads carrots), so is there some way in Excel I could refine my functions or should I be using something else entirely. I'd gladly pay you for a phone tutorial. Let me know.

  • @PrimeInstruction , I do not know, try:

  • 4:02 of this video provided me the long-awaited and much searched for breakthrough that I needed to make an incredible spreadsheet for my Spanish students. Thank you...very well done.

  • @PrimeInstruction , I am so glad that the videos help and may help you teach more people about the power of Excel!

  • I'm doing some simple accounting involving data from three worksheets. Is Vlook up the right function to use to bring the data to the fourth worksheet where the math will be completed?

Thanks for all the hard work

  • @anthonypblackburn , sure. Try these videos for more about VLOOKUP:

  • thanks alot

  • this series of excel classes is a great find! Thanks for recording them, I'll be back here for sure!

  • Thanks very helpfull and have a nice day

  • You are welcome!

  • Tnx 4 the reply

7 it is. Your video helped a lot, but VLOOKUP was not an option in the way I wanted to use it.

Notice that Google Docs doesn't have any problems with (in my case) 12 IF's in one IF formula.

  • In Excel 2007, 2010, you nest 10, 20, 30 or more...

  • Hi,

Do you agree thet Excel(2003) has a maximum of 8 IF's in a IF formula?

  • its 7. Search For "If function limit 7" and you will see the video I made on this topic.

    video title is:

Excel Magic Trick #129: More than 7 Nested IF functions

  • Is there a formula that says IF one criteria is met, then "NOT ELIGIBLE", IF the other criteria is met, it will copy the FORMULA from the previous cell?

The ultimate goal is to have a chain of cells that I can say "yes" or "no" to answer questions that gauge if a project is eligible, and have continuing cells appear when "yes" button is hit, but discontinue the chain when a "no" button is hit.

  • I do not how to do that. The best place to ask Excel questions is this site:

    mrexcel[dot]com/forum

  • The video helped me alot. i have a question as well.

i need to use the vlookup to use the part number to get the description and unit price. ive done that but there is one part that has multiple unit prices depending on how many parts you buy. i have no idea how to get that affect in the formula. can you use lookup formulas as results from if statements?

  • Are you asking how to return multiple items?

    or

Are you asking how to do a lookup with more than one lookup value?

  • LOL

    ''Oops, Excel is talking...''

  • Hey man, your the best!! I have a problem i was looking for you to assist with. I have a v-look up the calculates peoples rates time hours. But i want to add an if formula so that if column c says "Travel" then half time the rate. CAN YOU HELP ME WITH THIS???!!!! PLEASE HELP

  • I don't really understand your question, but if it is how to add a 3rd column, try this video which has a few great examples:

Highline Excel Class 07: VLOOKUP function formula 7 Examples

  • Hey bud. Awesome vids but Im stuck on something. I have a table of amounts that vary with age. So I use a vlook using the age to find the corresponding amount. But the problem I have is that I have a male table and a female table. Is there a way of using an equation that recognises that (e.g) B2 = male and B3 = 21 so that it has to use the male table to then look up the amount for 21 years. Does that make sense? I tried using an if and vlook at once but kept screwing it up. Any ideas??

  • If you are trying to do a VLOOKUP with two tables, try this video title:

Mr Excel & excelisfun Trick 40: VLOOKUP to 3 Different Lookup Tables (3 table_arrays)

  • in your second "Mutually exclusive category" it should be as "5,000<=sales<10,000". you have pretty good videos indeed. trust me they are like food for me!

  • Thanks for the heads-up. I added an annotation so that others will see also!

  • can i use multiple lookup value in 1 vlookup formula?

    tnx

  • Yes, but it is rare and it would be an array formula.
