People always complain about Metallica "selling out", but the truth is any artist knows that you can only adhere to a set style for so long. People don't consider that what fueled trash metal in their beginnings was anger and disappointment; and as you grow up you tend to leave that anger behind, so it's only understandable that Metallica drifted to 'softer' music with the years, no longer driven by the same things. Not to mention that they're mostly middle class or, in the case of Lars

NO I hear ya man, I am talking specifically Album sales, nothing else. Metallica has sold circles around Megadeth for albums, but Metallica had to sell out to the Mainstream crowds in order to do so. Megadeth has stayed true to their roots, and they have one of the most dedicated and loyal fan bases that there is. I know that Dave would choose to not sellout, so he wouldn't have seen any of that money anyways.
