Why do reining riders seem to slouch in the saddle more than in other disciplines? Is it just a coincidence, or is there something about this sport.

@wishiwasanindian You are supposed to show relaxation and willing cooperation with your partner. They aren't slouching, they are sitting back calmly and using the subtles of cues. A reining seat is differant from other sports.

@wishiwasanindian It alingns their bodies for their stops and distributes their weight in a way the horses recognize for different manuvers. The way their shirts billow out because of the speed certainly makes it look more pronounced, too.

Ja, Reining ist schon Recht spannend, allerdings kann man die Gelenke des Pferdes bei "falschem" Training ziemlich schädigen oder ganz zerstören. Da muss man echt aufpassen, wenn das Pferd nicht nach ein paar Jahren am Ende sein soll...

The horses in this clip look a lot more natural in their head carriage and definitely are freer moving and more natural, although the nose goes down and the neck scrunches in the stops; not a natural stop.
