Liked it very much, it's always refreshing to listen to original music that sounds like you always knew it.. this fantasy makes me want to learn piano again :P Regards!
Intriguing, it adheres to classical form but it isnt an uber classical piece in terms of harmony and texture. In fact, its very modern/contemporary. I really expected your original work to be EXTREMELY classical but this is quite a pleasant surprise =)
Cory, this is fantastic...You know that this is really my favorite style of music...I will be waiting to hear the whole composition when it's finished. what a "gift" you have been given..thanks Joan
The beginning shares your signature style, but then it kinda, well, veers into new territory!
Although it's incomplete, I enjoy the air of this movement. It's brief, but that's why I like it. I feel the other movements will be slightly longer, and stress other compositional elements. This movement is stately, conclusive, giving us that last triumphant breath.
How the melody at 2:15 is injected makes me feel it is a recurring theme in the other movement(s). I guess we will find out soon enough.
@xxAsteriskxx I'll just fill you in.....This movement is not totally new but a reprise or shortened version of the first movement which is in sonata form and lasts much longer. The second movement is entirely different altogether and provides contrast. The second movement (an andante in D major) has a lot of trills and ends with a long trill, which is why I began this movement with a trill.
@BachScholar Right, I see. Looks like I wasn't too far off the mark, when it came to the conclusive feeling I got despite not hearing the whole sonata. I'm very intrigued to hear this in its entirety!
this is so awesome! i would love to hear the final (complete) composition... take all the time you need - but the fantasy in g minor will be amazing =)
I recently the chance to become an intern for music courses for young (mostly elementary to middle school) aspiring musicians at my university. My professor picked me to assist him in a lecture of beginner-level pianists next weekend. He gave me the responsibility to really plan the lesson to appeal more to younger kids, so I'm putting together a short 5-6 minutes video on 'piano everywhere' theme. Do you mind if I cut a few segments from some of your works? Thank you in advance. :)
That's true. It seems to evoke Liszt and Schumann music, specialy from middle to end. Your song is very beautiful. Hope to see the other movements soon.
It reminded me of
Rachmaninov, scriabin, chopin,mozart
Great job, nice composition
