This message is something to learn from, regardless of it's authenticity. Personally I'm a skeptic, but fortunately can think outside of my own shoes. Thinking from the perspective a believer, I would be a little concerned with the " We come in peace, destroy all your weapons it's okay" bit. This would have been simple to do, even back in 1977. Whether it's in the FM broadcast band or the much older AM broadcast band down in the HF spectrum, this is a SIMPLE thing to do.

Ham radio operators everywhere around the world have equipment capable of broadcasting on just about ANY band and in ANY mode.
