I'm reading Henry Hazlitt's Economics in One Lesson right now. He dispels the fallacy or war stimulating the economy. All war does is re-direct resources. Nothing is added. This also falls under the "Broken window" theory.
Next time you have Schiff & Leeb together, please slip Leeb a sedative and let Peter finish a sentence. After all, Schiff makes more sense than Leeb (and Leeb is just down right annoying).

Those who invested in Peter's products in 2007 got 'WIPED' in 2008. He also missed spectacular boom of 2003~2007.
Also, Peter has not prepared his clients for the deleverage in Aug/Sept/Oct/Nov, he took a HUGE hit. Peter was only half right.
Stephen Leeb, believe it or not, produced sound results for many years. And yes, there hasn't been a depression that has NOT been cured without the government intervention; because no government dared to sit back and let the market work things out.
I'm sure his clients aren't too concerned about losses over a few months, you have to look to the long term. His clients are set up to do well now over the long term by getting out of US equities. Everyone got killed those months.
Did he actually miss the boom of 2003 to 2007? Because oil and gold did phenomenal over those years and he always pushes those commodities in the vids I have seen anyways.

I listened to the debate again and am shocked that Schiff could not give one example where severely depressed economies recovered without help. If Schiff can't represent his cause he should shut the "F" up.
Thas the whole point... Look at history, there has never been a severly depressed economy when complete free markets was working. The only time America has exerienced problems was after the creation of the FED and the grwing government intervention in the economy after the 1900's.
Leeb's track record incidentally is verified by a top accountant and places him first in the past three, five, seven and 9plus years. Schiff's record is unadited. We neeed the SEC.

By nature, it is essentially impossible for a depression to occur and there NOT be some form of government intervention. Human nature seems to dictate that if you can do something or nothing in response to a problem, even if doing nothing is better, politicians will always choose something, out of fear of being blamed for not acting.
For the record, I'm a Peter Schiff fanatic, and actually think Leeb knows he's wrong, but his assignment was to destroy Schiff's air time. That just seems to be the agenda in the video to me.
