You are right, God doesn't need us, He mention that in the Qurán that even the whole world is atheist He is still God.
but I am sorry to say that you are wrong if you think "Muhammad pbuh took the art of poetry combined it with sacred literature, he made this beautiful, beautiful text." the man was illiterate. He never wrote it, he memorized the whole book, like millions of muslims do.
when the revelation came to him, he asked the companion to write it down, but Qurán was a book for the first time when he was already died. Because qurán meant to be memorized not to be read, it has to be in the heart of every muslim. As a guidance. But since not everybody so called "muslim" do it, Islam became a misunderstood religion, because than they start acting against the book. They become a stranger to their own religion, yet millions of people memorized it but that's just not enough.
Islam is explicit in its literature that you must be Muslim in order to go to heaven and that those who are not Muslim are to be treated differently. Read the Hadiths along with the Qur'an and you will see (although old testament is also violent) that Islam is the most violent of all the three monotheistic religions. Read the hadeths and the Qur'an and you will see much of the vast amount of silence amongst Muslims about Muslim terrorism explained
Also the Surahs are not written in order. before Mohamed had power, all of his scripture was peaceful. when he gained power, you will see that his verses became more and more hostile and something which is allowed in Islam which is abrogation of contradicting verses abrogates many of the early peaceful verses.
you mean fanatical extreeme yeah .........there is a commonality in moslems and christian evangelicals they are both fanatical and unrealistic hypocrites and opportunist...
thank you for yur opinion. but you didn't understand the Surat also you didn't be specific about what's bothering you. telling people about Allah and His last authentic message is a must. forcing them to accept it, is not.
I totally agree, muslim youtube videos really misrepresent islam.
You shouldn't go to the level of youtube kids.. even if you are sure you are right you don't want to be compared to what they argue.
16:125 argue with them in the most kindly manner-[149]for, behold, thy Sustainer knows best as to who strays from His path, and best knows He as to who are the right-guided
Al Kafirun Sura 109 is one I use a lot. I don't argue with people. If they ask me questions about Islam I will answer them as completely as I'm able and/or send them on to sites or people who can answer them better or help their curiosity. There are good AND bad sites so please talk to a person of that religion before taking a site as "gospel" of any religion.
I really don't like debates much. It's all been discussed and overdone AND they're mostly on YT! Discussion is more productive.
i have always detested these professional video-evangelists and the Americanization of the message of Islam which is not a product and Muslims even less a market....and I resent to be shouted at by these thunderers of doom if we don't follow them..
thank you for that insight and you make some good points.
2:256 Let there be no compulsion in religion: TRUTH STANDS OUT CLEAR FROM ERROR: whoever rejects evil and believes in Allah hath grasped the most trustworthy hand-hold, that never breaks. And Allah heareth and knoweth all things.
1/Muhammad s.a.s did not write the Qur'an. It is Allah' revelation.
2/sura 109 is a zero compromise statement towards polytheists (mushrikin, kaffirun) (pls read the tafseer for full context) so it would be wrong for a Muslim to invoke this when dealing with Jews or Christians (ahl ul Kittab ie People of the Book). Your 2nd reference is more approriate for the latter.
Salam malmalmar. it is a common translation indeed but it is not that simple. google "kafirs islamonline" and check the 1st link for a more exhaustive answer. Bottom line: it not a casual label and if we use it is at our own risk especially knowing the full significance. and Allah knows best.
This stinks Damn youtube erased my comment :( buhu buhu anyway wayman. Just one correction the prophet (PBUH) did not write the book. And good advise we should not become like the evangelicals :)
i agree with you some of what you said here about islam (i am not too familiar with the evangelical movement) here is another verse that seems to support your point of view:
So remind them (O Muhammad (PBUH)), you are only a one who reminds. You are not a dictator over them. (88:21-22).The Messenger is only charged with delivering the Message.Ibn Zayd said, "You are not the one who can force them to have faith." our only duty is to explain the message, not debate and try to convince other people.
This is the common understanding and Allah knows best. This is a reccurring theme in the Qur'an (eg.3:20 etc). Guidance ultimately is up to Allah SWT as only Him knows what is in people hearts. Daw'ah is an invitation. We educate on don't convert. Thinking otherwise would be ignorance/arrogance knowing what the Prophet's s.a.s duty was. Evangelism was originally just spreading the "Good News" and quickly became synonymous with proselytism.
wayman, i think this is a bit flawed historically speaking. infact, islam from the begining was a missionary religion, one which used the sword and threatened hell just the same-we could easily say it is when evangelicals act like muslims-. on a side note-do you really dislike evangelicals so much, that you use them as an example of what not to be? i say this as a very dissident seminary student, i just am not sure it is completly fair or intellectually honest.
Greetings, Among Muslims the term "Evangelical" means something much different then what the term means to evangelicals. Just like the term "Fundamentalist" has changed over the years. I don not hate "evangelicals" however if I said "fundamentalist", if would have been taken as something totally different by the Muslims watching this video. Everyone took part in slicing and dicing at the beginning of all three belief systems.
The issue was how to properly define in a word the idea of people like "Yokeup" and say that there are those in Islam that are just like him, even though they themselves become frustrated with such people. I was pointing out that in the Qur'an I cam across verses the seemed to say such ways of thinking are a waste of time. Both belief systems toss out "truth" for "certainty".
For example in all three texts the terminology is different, Torah " "Do not be like the idolaters." in Qran'an it is "do not do what the pagans do" In Gospels it is "do not be like the Scribes and Pharisees" or "Hypocrites".
wayman,u r right, apoligetics is alien to islam.bashing other religions, for the sake of bashing is pointless.not to say theological discourse isn't productive.
a good example of bad apologetics entering into islamic arguements,is the stoning of disobedient children,in judaism,in context,if a child was disobedient,in simple terms meant the death of the parents, within their society.obeying u parents in islam is a big thing, here, in context,we can understand its impotance,so y use it.
Good vid. I agree with you. Great points. Instead of debating for the sake of debating, if we truly lived what was taught, it would be a better world.
Some Christians say Mohammad was a violent barbarian; we know who they are. But he brought peace to the Arab states with some war, quite similiar to how countries today bring peace: through some violence. Sometimes it is necessary for peace, however, especially in Mohammad's time. Great video, wayman.
Many believe he suffered from temporal lobe epilepsy the symptoms sound spot on. naomi94 put together a pretty good vid with lots of info in the description box.
They say the same things about Paul. Sick or not he united the waring Arab tribes in just 23 years with poetic language and skill. It's much different to see where and what cultures and environments literature sprang from rather then just complaining about them through the lens of modern world view. Naomi94 would make a great evangelical. Same views are produced , just on opposite ends of the spectrum. When do we use anthropology, and metaphor?
Yes she would, I don't recommend her generally but she did make the effect to put together a pretty good vid with plenty of information that can be easily understood from good solid sources IMO.
Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.
Far better is it when we stop arguing over details of the mythology, and instead begin to apply the morality that they teach, edifying and uplifting each other for the benefit of all.
hg, thats not what the text was saying-paul was talking about 'enemations', which became part of gnostism, not the xian kerigma and its details, ie the details which paul himself taught.
Let me pray and contemplate on that truantiremain, I know that what you stated is definitely wrong, I just don't quite have the words to express it. Seminary training does not replace The Holy Spirit. Wisdom is not the same as indoctrination. What causes the most division in the Body (which is the technical definition of Heresy), are continuous arguments and debates over the "mythology" of Jesus, while what Paul attempted to teach was the "Theology" of Jesus. Don't confuse the two.
holyground, what i said was historically accurate to the text-what you said, was not. those other points were not things i brought up, seminary or the holy spirit, nor wisdom and indoctrination. there is a differnce between aresias and schisma, i didn't confuse anything.
Greetings,
