Probably the most underrated film McQueen ever did, He should've gotten an Oscar nomination for this one. I've always wondered why Hoffman's never discussed this film, the contrast in their styles of acting must've been incredible

@dugrober or why they didn't just follow Papillon a little more closely. I love Dustin Hoffman, but they completely rewrote the story and moved his character from a minor role to front and center.

this is one of the great acting style contrast, like wayne and clift in red river or de niro and jerry lewis in the king of comedy, I wonder if there were any clashes on set due to their different acting styles.
