@thizizliz I was told that they should be fine, except the large one may not taste as good, so I just sliced up the smaller ones, and put them in the fridge.
puffballs are not poisonous. make sure they are completely white inside and that the flesh is firm and spongy. is excellent breaded and fried like eggplant. if cut like a scallop and fried in butter, it is like a scallop only melt in your mouth.. i've also made chips with them by thin slicing and deep frying until crisp. maybe you'll try it sometime. wish i would have found one that big this year.
