  • christians invaded america and africa.

don't blame white europeans, christians or jews.

    blame men!

men are the root of evil!

  • Also just because im atheist does not mean i can't celebrate a day. I get drunk and have a good time at my m8s birthday just as much as at mine.

  • Christmas in Ireland at least, is a social event not religious very few and i mean no one i even know would go to mass/pray on Christmas most people get pissed and go to there friends house with there spouses. If it was not for kids i bet you 90 percent of even religious people atleast here would not care for it. I actually worked on xmas last year and most shops are open pubs/restaurants.

  • Atheists are moronic. They'd believe anything, except the one true God. It's a shame.

  • @LxE100 Christian are moronic that believe in a magic man in the sky

  • WTF - The first one had nothing to do with Atheists and Christmas

  • Well said bro. Your children should have an open mind and make her own choices. But christians are for christians and NO one else. They are right and everyone else is wrong. This is the dumbing down of civilization and what keeps us from coming to a mutual utopia.

  • @jezuzfreek777 Those who pointed out that Christmas was initially a Pagan holiday did so to mock your logic that Christmas should only be celebrated by those who accept Christ. No one should have to exclude themselves from holiday celebrations because their not of a specific faith. My friend is a rabbi, and I took part in Chanukah celebrations, and he went to our Christmas party. What's wrong with that? What's wrong with saying "happy holidays" to respect all traditions? You just don't get it.

  • 4:13 - You read the wrong entry! Of course 'Christmas' references Christianity first! 'Christmas' is what the celebration of Saturnalia and other solstice festivals got called by Christians once it was appropriated by them! 5:45 - Christians stole the holiday successfully, therefore it's okay for you to celebrate a previously pagan holiday, but hypocritical for me to do it? Really? The winner-takes-all approach to cultural festivities... that's certainly a new one!

  • 3:20 - "Why as an atheist would you celebrate a Pagan holiday?" Wow, you really didn't get it. We don't celebrate a pagan holiday - we appropriated fun traditions (like decorating trees and giving presents) from pagans because we like doing it! Christians did the same thing, which is why we brought up Saturnalia - to show you that we celebrate Xmas for very similar reasons. P.S. If you knew we atheists were going to bring up Saturnalia - why didn't you just address that in your first video?

  • 2:26-2:32 - Really? Every day you can do that!

  • Will you stone your daughter to death if she becomes an atheist?

  • Comment removed

  • I'm not asking you to prove that he is the son of god, but that he existed as a man. Some sort of historical document or something legitimate, not scripture, but historical records.

  • @TKE627 There is historical evidence outside the bible every where. Just because its not in a lamented copy doesn't mean its not true. Roman historians reference Jesus after his death: Tacitus. Pliny the Younger, Jewish historian Josephus. These are scientific historians that have had a say even in the text books at your school. To disregard what they say as irrelevant than take away all the historical facts from 30 A.D. to 200 AD.

  • @MOWIIZER There is very little archaeological evidence of Jesus. Mainly because Rome destroyed much of Israel after Jesus (Nero). But even if your a thinker on any level this should tell you that this is not inconclusive. Jesus had very little possessions besides his robe which was gambled off. He died an outlaws death so I doubt the Romans made any attempt to keep his belonging. The Emperor Nero after Jesus death killed thousands of Christians which is a regarded FACT.

  • @MOWIIZER also once the stories of jesus were wide spread, anyone could have claim to be him and been crucified. I'm sure there were many people who would have loved to claim being someone more important than they were if they could have gotten away with it, and back then it was rather easy.

  • @TKE627 But TKE it's not what you think, we're talking about historical fact. Like I said before over 1 million people saw Jesus on Passover. You can't make this up. Also why its not true that someone would claim to be Jesus at the time , if you look in the book of Acts the Apostles and new believers were very zealous when it comes to the truth. The Apostles saw Jesus ascend to Heaven, if any one claimed to be Jesus after this point would be ostracized.

  • Comment removed

  • @MOWIIZER Also if Jesus's mission was to absolve our sins and spread the word/will of god, why did HE not leave behind any written word or books?

  • I'm not an atheist, but I'm not a christian either. That being said you only got so many hits saying that time is a christian holiday because you searched for 'CHRISTMAS'...try and search for winter solstice (which is what that time of year is and what the holiday is truly about in all religions). Winter Solstice is way more important on a basic human level because it represents the coming of new LIFE, the birth of some guy who may or may not have existed doesn't even come close in importance.

  • @TKE627 Even scientists and historians know that Jesus Christ was a real person and walked and talked. Are you kidding me? Over a million people in Jerusalem saw Jesus during passover. You don't think that some of those guys could write? Wow...

  • @MOWIIZER I was consenting that he existed as a person, not god who was a miracle machine, who's reputation grew out of control, but since you decided to be snide and claim it's indisputable, can you please prove he existed? If you can, you've converted an indecisive person to Christianity and I will start going to church (I've already read the bible I was forced to go to catholic school) wwwatheistsorg / Did_Jesus_Exist%3F

Start from there. The burden of proof rests with you.

  • @MOWIIZER the website did not go through but i'll post it here and replace the "DOT" with real periods.

    wwwDOTatheistsDOTorg/Did_Jesus_Exist%3F

    OR google "did jesus exist"

and you will find a ton of proof that at the very least it is HIGHLY unclear and that his existence rest MAINLY on faith...and don't use Wikipedia as a source lmao. It wasn't allowed in my high school, it's not allowed in my university classes NOW, and it shouldn't be allowed in a real life debate HERE.

  • @TKE627 I apologize if you feel I was being snide. Truly no disrespect intended, I was just so suprised of the amount of historial evidence that he was a real man. Anyways, over 500 people saw Jesus after his death. I regard that as fact.

Whether you want to believe that he cured the sick and walked on water is really up to you. How would I force you to believe that he was the Son of God when even the Pharisees didn't believe that? Even when he was right next to them. Blinded by their hate.

  • @MOWIIZER I'm not asking you to prove that he is the son of god, I'm glad you agree that this is impossible, shows me you are reasonable, but that he existed as a man. Some sort of historical document or something legitimate, not scripture, but records. I've looked far and wide and couldn't find him in real history

  • I do cause I spend with my family. I'm sure 70 percent of people celebrate it just because it's Xmas

  • you really do not care what anyone has to say to you about your question on atheists celebrating christmas. you just want to argue a point. can't you let it go and just wish all people a merry christmas. oh and maybe find it in your heart to respect others choises. btw you stepped on yourself in this vid. just sayin....

  • Well I've been an atheist for about a year now. This past Christmas, I celebrated with my moderate Christian family. And I did nothing different this year than I did all those years when I was a moderate Christian. We open gifts, decorate, watch Christmas movies, etc. What's so wrong with that?

  • 7:00 your god doesn't make you a better human being. Faith is a rejection of reason by definition. Reason is man's basic virtue, the one that make him different from any other living species. "Yeah, let him deprive you of what make you human and you'll be a better human?" Do the people believing in that have a brain?

  • I celebrate christmas by spending time with my family, giving gifts, and eating good food. No mention of chirst.

  • Well it celebrate the ribirth of life. I don't see why it would be opposed to etheist.

  • you are teaching your daughter to be dishonest and extreme in her views by your actions,,,, you knew that atheists would tell you all about how xmas was a pagan holiday first, and you purposely left that out of your first video in order to bait atheists into an argument about the meanings of xmas,,,, is this what christ would do? would he bait people into believing in him? do you really want to lure people into your religion by way of deception?

  • If you are unable to understand why someone would celebrate something simply for fun without literally believing in it thats you own shortcoming and misfortune.

  • Christmas has elements of paganism in it. Where do you think the tree comes from?

  • Christmas is a holiday to celebrate peace on earth and joy to the world. Why cant we celebrate being nice to people.

  • So you admit that Xmas is nothing but a co-opted Pagan holiday, but it's okay beacuse you stole it well? Is that really your best argument? Besides which, despite your reading of dictionary definitions (a pathetic deabting technique) Xmas is no longer about Jesus, it was once, but isn't anymore. How many Jesus displays do you see in malls? How many kids beg thier parents to go to the midnight carol service? How many Santa displays do you see? I rest my case.

  • So it's either celebrate it as the birth of jesus, or don't celebrate it at all? There you go again, telling people what to do.

  • The same question can be posed to you as well JF. Despite how the "world" sees the holiday and your not to be of this world, you do KNOW and most dont that Christmas IS originally a pagan holiday so why celebrate it ?. Alot of christians have problem with Halloween WHY ? b/c its pagan. If God wanted you to celebrate Jesus birt, he would of said so....no? Instead what you do have is Paul in Galatians 4 opposing celebration of days b/c its idolatry and worshipping other gods.....

  • .... 8However at that time, when you did not know God, you were slaves to those which by nature are no gods. 9But now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how is it that you turn back again to the weak and worthless elemental things, to which you desire to be enslaved all over again? 10You observe days and months and seasons and years. 11I fear for you, that perhaps I have labored over you in vain.

    Galatians 4:8-10

  • wow you are delusional, accept Christ? Okay I accept he was a man nothing more, unless you can prove he was divine, which you cant. Now combine this with the historical evidence and the fact the Bible was written by men, whom we dont know. Now lets look at the mistakes, genesis was wrong , so much for divine inspiration eh? Finally and most important, Morality, or the lack of it in the bible, slavery, incest, murder, rape, genocide and bigotry. How can you still think nonsense this is true???

  • "all atheists should get on board and celebrate it as the birth of Christ or not celebrate it at all"

Sorry bud, Christmas is pagan, you got that right , why would we validate the birth of the biggest frauds of all time? I can see people celebrating the "holidays",nothing to do with Christ.

I dont celebrate Christmas, Easter or any religious holidays or traditions be christian or Pagan.

You seem somewhat logical, how can you still believe in this nonsense? I mean honestly, no evidence at all...

  • I said it last time but I think it bears repeating. It's not just my co-workers that celebrate Christmas, my entire family and all my friends. It's everyone around me. I have made the holiday relevant to my life. I enjoy the good parts of the holiday and I ignore the parts that aren't relevant to me.

  • @squareatheist Like it or not, Christians did the same thing when they hijacked the holiday from the pagans. So if you blame me for celebrating Christmas as an atheist, you would also have to point that finger at yourself for celebrating a pagan holiday. How about if we just forget the blame game and just enjoy the holiday?

  • The world exists because of EVOLUTION 4600 MILLION YEARS AGO YOU DUMBASS

  • keep talking... gOD does not exist and you are a fucking retard. PLEASE GO DIE

  • PLEASE JEZUZFREEK READ THIS COMMENT First of all : GOD DOES NOT EXIST Secondly : "God" or "Jesus" does not have to do ANY FUCKING THING with the 25th december

Thirdly : We, in Austria and Germany, we have the "Christkind" and only KIDS believe in it, its like Santa Claus. I am 16 years old and i am an atheist, and i celebrate with my family that my little brothers (3 and 5) are happy and think they get the presents from the "christkind"

Number 4 : why the fuck do i even

  • I grew up in Scandinavia. We don't celebrate Christmas, but Yule. We celebrate out of tradition and the opportunity to be with our families. Yule has a place in Northern European history and has been celebrated in these countries since the Viking age. While Yule was the celebration of the winter solstice, Christmas celebrates an ideology. One that I don't believe in. So first you hijack our tradition, and then you have the nerve to tell us to stop celebrating it. You must be joking.

  • That being said, I hope you enjoy your Christmas and Easter in your own way and if you want to attribute them to Jesus, then go for it. I just wish you would not try so hard to convince us to "submit" (your word) to any kind of mythological figurehead. That's what atheists object to. We don't see any evidence to support such a being, so we don't submit to one. That's it. Have a great weekend.

  • I don't celebrate Christmas. I celebrate time with family and friends. That's when people choose to gather, so I do too. You seem to want atheists to just go into hiding around the solstice. As for the birth of Jesus, that has been placed in the spring time. Were there yule logs, mistletoe, holly wreaths and evergreen trees around the manger in Nazareth? Red and green are symbolic of the aurora borealis. Christmas is a co-opted "pagan" holiday, as is Easter. I don't celebrate either one.

  • As an atheist I do things I enjoy, the same reason you have your religion. You never admit that you can be wrong so you could never know the truth, belief is just satisfying.

  • I'm retarded, where the hell is the sub button?

  • Why can't we celebrate Christmas as just a time to get together and spend time with family and friends? Why do you have to drag mystical nonsense into it?

  • I am a capitalist. We have co-opted the holiday you co-opted. I'm asking you to get on board and celebrate Christmas as our crowning achievement, or not celebrate it at all.

  • I don't celebrate Christmas, but Yule! Christ wasn't born on the 25th of December. Become a historian and give up your tunnel vision! It is the Winter Solstice. Wake up man who reads one book!

  • 2:10 you should ask that same question to yourself but put pagan in there since it was a pagan holiday first.

  • That said, I appreciate the honest and friendly nature of your video. I wish you all the best. Where I'm from the population is around 85% non believers but we all (with very rare exception) celebrate Christmas.

  • When people argue that it's pagan it's not to say that they want to celebrate a pagan holiday, it's so you'll release your claim that it's only for Christians (in the sense that we have to make it about Jesus) .You're a big fan of encyclopedias and dictionaries I see, so look up the word for christmas in other languages - usually doesn't even have Christ in it because other cultures just kept a variant of their originally pagan celebration.

  • I grew up celebrating Christmas, and I enjoyed it. And, being an atheist, I get to celebrate whatever I want. There is no doctrine out there that says I have to do anything. So we celebrate Christmas kind of like how we celebrate Thanksgiving. We get together with family, eat and give presents. I might celebrate something else next year. Also, the department stores don't say "happy holidays" because of atheists. They say that because there are other religious holidays around the same time. Duh.

  • >says he encourages his daughter to "expand her intellectual boundaries"

    >raises her as a Christian

    LOLWUT

  • Christmas, like all traditions, is what you make of it. To many Christians it is indeed about Christ. But for most, it's about the spirit of the season. That's what it is to me, and whether Jesus was Lord and Saviour or not is irrelevant to that. I celebrate Christmas for the same reason I celebrate all other traditions: it's what I've been brought up to do in my culture. I think you'll find that non-Christian theists in Christian cultures also "celebrate" Christmas.

  • I see it as a western holiday. I work in IT, I work with a TON of Indian immigrants. None of them are christian but celebrate christmas because they feel its the AMERICAN thing to do.

Its a holiday to reflect on the year and spend time with my family, because I dont get an opportunity to do it all year.,

In closing I celebrate it because everyone in this country does. You seem to want to trap atheists into some sort of hypocritial catch 22.

  • @tsdobbi

and furthermore, celebrating it doesnt violate any sort of belief with me. I have no belief to violate. If I participate in christmas festivities it doesnt make me not an atheist anymore. I dont want to be a douchebag who shuns others because im not a believer. I know full well what its intent is, but I still participate.

  • Even before I was an Atheist I never once thought of Christ during Christmas, And I'm sure most don't give Christ a peice of mind either, during that time. I think about giving and of course, Receiving. Non Sexually of course, but there is exceptions.

  • My butthole hurts:(

  • Actually the whole world DOES NOT recognize it as a Christian holiday. In some parts of the world Christ is even further left out of it. I believe in some or most Scandinavian countries it is most often called Yule rather then Christmas. Yule being one of the pagan holidays before Christmas existed. I believe it is Sweden that as tradition builds a massive wooden statue of Slepnir. (Odin's eight legged horse.) Not a statue of Jesus, but of a horse from a Nordic pagan religion.

  • @CorkPhop I don't know why other atheists commonly refer to the pagan symbols in Christmas, but I will explain MY reasoning. We had this holiday commonly celebrated by people. Then Christians took that holiday and added their own touch on it. We as atheists are just doing the same thing as Christians did way back then. But we choose to not celebrate in some magic men or bullshit. We simply enjoy it for what it is. A time to spend with family and friends.

  • @CorkPhop I for one don't care to "take Christ out of Christmas." I kind of like the story. (SHOCKER!!!) I have a big interest in Norse mythology, and I have almost the same level of interest in Christian mythology. I like the idea of Jesus' birth being part of Christmas. I actually like a lot of the stories from the Bible. But for many it seems that Christians just fuck up a great piece of literature.

  • @CorkPhop Ha ha indeed, you are close to the truth. We do call it Yule or Jul still. We have adapted things like the nativity scene though so in many ways christmas is a big part of Jul and we all have the Coca Cola Santa of course.

  • @omnisomnia I like how you say "Coca Cola Santa". Not many people know that the image of Santa was made popular by Coca Cola.

  • But pagans are kick ass.

  • 7:15 I would like that...but It's not like pushing a button and just believe...

I simply can't see any proof...do you understand how it is to find hard to believe something?

It's great to think that I can do that or that to think and feel like I'm confident and have the power of will do learn to study and so on but it's not like I can just change...I can't Belief it's a process and I demand proof...of God

  • You said that if Christmas is about peace and love then we could just celebrate that any day. By the same token, you could celebrate Jesus' birthday any time you like. Why do you need to do it on December 25? I mean, that's not his real birthday- you know that. You're doing it because you've set aside a day just for that purpose, just like you've set aside one day a week to think about Jesus and god generally. And you criticise atheists for doing the same thing?

  • .______________.

Your bias opinion makes you look dumb. I'm sorry if this isn't the nicest comment but its true.

Also 1 thing. We can celebrate whatever we want. Once again, you took it from the pagans and before you go oh man not this again. We took it from you a made it different again. Kept the name so that everyone knows what it is still but yea. :3 its family, presents, and pretty lights, AND MORE.

  • Today Christmas is a celebration of consumerism, hence the fat man in a red suit =)

  • I celebrate it because my family (mother, father, etc.) celebrate it. It's just a holiday and it does have pagan roots. My parents consider themselves Christian and I didn't hear one word about a god from them the entire holiday season.

  • It seems you've either misunderstood the answers that most atheists gave or are intentionally misrepresenting them.

  • If you want to celebrate Christmas as a Christian holiday fine. But you imply any other reason is wrong. I celebrate Christmas but not as a religious holiday Christian are Pagan. The people I see offended by Merry Christmas are not atheist but people of other religions. I am a Atheist I was raised a Southern Baptist I have read the bible completely 4 times. Nothing will convert you to Atheism faster that reading and having a complete understanding of the bible.

  • @BleedingBullets4U

Don't even bother. I want to smack this man silly when he started bringing up the dictionary.

  • Who cares where the holidays roots are from a d why atheists celebrate it. Do you really think everyone let's their religion creep into everything they do and over analyzes it? Do you celebrate Halloween? Yeah I don't care. So you have the balls to say all atheists need to celebrate Christmas or none? What a pretentious piece of crap

  • Jesus wasn't born on the 25th, many Mediterranean God's were given that birthday, in fact Horus and Jesus has so many parallels that Jesus is just Horus 2.0 therefore never existed show proof he exists than i can take it seriously. P.S. I'm an atheist and i do not celebrate christmas.

  • First you straight up admit to stealing a holiday and then condemn people for celebrating the holiday that you stole....Are you that retarded or brain dead that you can't honestly see the fallacies in your logic....You are the poster child for religious retardation..You really need seek professional help..At least do it for your daughter...Damn Anthony this is a new low...

  • @0019josh7100 Christmas wasn't stolen. Jesus wasn't recognized by the majority of the world at that time, so there was definitely not a holiday made for him. It was just celebrated around the same time as the Roman holiday Saturnalia so that Christians wouldn't get killed by the Romans.

  • @TOUMI228 If christmas wasn't stolen, how do you explain so much of the pagan symbolism involved in it? The christmas tree, the yule log (which by the way, is named after the pagan holiday of Yule, pagans burn it to symbolize the return of the sun and warmth to the earth.), the mistletoe, even the myth of Santa Claus (With ties to Odin of Norse mythology. Yes I know he's also known as St. Nicholas but that's just an addition to the myth.) and gift giving are pagan in origin. Need more?

  • @necrogenesis1981 All that pagan symbolism is because the Christians had to blend in inorder to not be killed! And gift giving isn't from paganism. it just comes with the Christmas spirit. God gave His Son to us, so we give to each other. People also do charitable activities for that purpose.

So it's not like Christians decided to steal a Pagan holiday and make it theirs, it's just that Christmas had to be celebrated in such a way so that Christians could survive.

  • @TOUMI228 Actually gift giving does have pagan origins, gift giving was done out of necessity actually, fellow pagans would give gifts of food to their neighbors to help them survive the winter. While you might be right (But I doubt it.) about christians trying to blend in, that doesn't change the fact that they still persecuted and killed pagans (And others) themselves later after they grew in power. Ironic don't you think?

  • @necrogenesis1981 Gift giving isn't Pagan; it's human.Every culture does it! And I didn't just make this stuff up.I'm a an Ancient Studies minor. That's how it was back then.Do the research.

And every single religion has persecuted another. Every type of group of people have persecuted another. It's a reoccuring theme in history. Early Christians (who interacted w/ Jesus) didn't persecute people. Converts did (the same people who used to persecute Christians when they were Pagans)

  • @TOUMI228 Of course every culture does it, but it has specific meaning in pagan tradition. Gift giving during christmas didn't even become popular until around Eisenhower's presidency. The early christians specifically adopted the tradition in order to absorb the traditions of Saturnalia so the origins would be forgotten.

  • @TOUMI228 And you're slightly wrong about ex-pagan converts persecuting people. Remember Saul? He was originally a jew, not a pagan, and he killed christians BEFORE he converted. You're right though that every group persecuted others at some point, but why is it that christians like to get in everyone's face still? Hypocrite much?

  • 1:10

    .

    hahaha, oh the irony.

  • your god is the real satan

  • Google: Origin of Christmas | The Real Story of Christmas | How it Began

Not many of your traditions are "Christian". DERP!!

  • Wow, you totally missed the point didn't you. Yes, Christmas is NOW a Christian holiday, we are saying that it is because the Christians imposed a Christian spin upon a pagan festival and never successfully removed all the pagan traditions from it.

No atheist celebrates the pagan aspect, because we're not religious, all we were pointing out was that Christians do not OWN Christmas and people can celebrate the day for any reason they want, even if they don't care about Jesus.

  • It's the time of year when most people have days off of work or are able to take time off. It's important to get together periodically to maintain family bonds, etc. Regardless of the original purpose, it's a convenient time to celebrate. I'd celebrate at Buddhist or Hindu holidays if people around me did, as well. I don't see anything wrong with an event that brings people together. If there is a god, I hope he wants us to enjoy being around our families and to be happy.

  • Spending time with family and loved ones = fleshly desires?

  • Was gonna kinda bash on you for referencing Wikipedia, but then you showed a physical Encyclopedia, so m'eh.

It's hard for me to get into Christmas BECAUSE the overwhelming greed that takes place. While technically speaking it's about the birth of Jesus (pretty sure the date has been modified from the true date,) people seem to forget that or not think of that. Like you said, Christmas has become a thing about PRESENTS. A few years ago someone DIED because of this holiday greed. It not for me.

  • The thing is, the true meaning christian gives to Christmas does not mean anything for atheists. So I don't understand your point: you asked atheist why they celebrated Christmas, the answer was quite obvious as you point out: we don't need Christ to celebrate Christmas. It's exactly the same for you actually: you don't need pagans rituals to celebrate Christmas (well if you discount the tree and etc. Heck we celebrated Christmas in my home country, and we are 90% Muslims. Silly question really.

  • Furthermore, NO ONE is saying that they celebrate Christmas because it's actually a pagan holiday. In case you seriously can't understand what they're really saying, they're actually asking you why you would celebrate a pagan holiday as a Christian.

I can hardly believe you're actually asking us not to celebrate the holiday season unless we buy into your co-opted version of their meaning. You admitted yourself that you stole Christmas from the pagans. We're just trying to take it back.

  • @jezuzfreek777 to explain clearly for most atheist out there. we celibate the TRADITION of the winter solstice. not the religious part the but traditional gift giving, merryment, and good will. we celibate it because its a good tradition. the pagans had a good idea so we celibate it. not for the same reasons as they did of course. does that plainly explain it? id rather not have to go on useless detail trying to explain exact detail of why we choose to beyond "because we like the idea"

  • Do you allow your daughter to celebrate Halloween in any way? Based on your own logic, you shouldn't.

  • I was raised as a believer in god and the bible, but my family never celebrated Christmas because of its pagan origins and the bible speaking directly against it. I'm an atheist now, and I still don't celebrate it because it's not appealing to me. Atheists can do whatever they want because they don't believe it. However, as a Christian, you should give an account for how you justify celebrating Christmas with your belief in the bible. Read Deuteronomy 23.

  • Why do we need a reason?

  • i celebrate christmas for my friends and family for the love and respect of them not of jesus. i do not care if christians stole it.its what my family feel thats more important.part of the day is showing love to them so yes i have stolen from you and i can not see how any christian can say anything about that when they understand the first theft, christians do not have the monopoly on love and enjoyment. halloween is a american holiday but i still enjoy that and have eggs on easter,

  • Whoa! Hold on there. You know perfectly well the supposed Jesus was not born on December 25 of any year.

  • Interesting. Who are you to dictate what people are to do.

  • 'Give god your life. Let him take over.' That sums up the very lack of appeal of religion: sell out, sell yourself like a whore to something that frankly none of us would know about had it not been for Rome, once conversion became convenient for the Empire, forcing Christianity upon Europe. It's all about our sacrifice, our giving in. Not appealing in the least.

  • You say Christmas is about the birth of Christ, but don't forget: most people know that Christ was not born on 25 December. You know that. It was likely Constantine who shifted Christianity to coincide with Pagan events. And why is the Pagan imagery somehow bad? How insulting. Finally your dictionary entries don't really support your points.

  • Part one is incredibly disingenuous. Part 2; the question I have to ask you is;

"When your daughter asked you her question, why didn't you just tell her that?"

Part 4 - you're stating that Christians have been excellent at stealing from others (shrug). Okay. I won't argue the point. You said it. Not me.

And my video consisted of asking you permission to do a video to your daughter. And no. I don't celebrate Christmas. I find the commercial obsession of your religion disgusting.

  • Comment removed

  • @BigMidget06 Nope. At least not for a number of years. I'm not saying my wife & I don't sit down to an extra nice dinner and do something vacationish but that's because everything is shut down and we've got a few days to a week off.

  • The simple fact is any society need a time in the year when all its citizens can collectively take a break and enjoy themselves, and I really don't think we should feel obliged to keep working and carry on as normal and allow christians to have some sort of monopoly on the occasion and declate it as their own. Society has moved on, religion is less important and we shouldn't allow the stranglehold that one faith had on our people to put us off celebration 'christmas' each in our own way.

  • Also, 90% of Christians i know tell me Christmas is a commercial holiday and has little to do with Christianity. Whats important is people coming together and enjoying the holidays rather than remembering someone who died over 2000 years ago and wasn't even BORN on fucking Dec 25th

  • ROFL. /facepalm. It isn't a christian holiday. It's a pagan holiday. Obviously you don't seem to understand what the word 'pagan' means.

Pagan noun - one who has little or no religion and who delights in sensual pleasures and material goods : an irreligious or hedonistic person

I find it hilarious that you seem to think that paganism is some sort of a religion and that atheism wouldn't hold any value over paganism. I suggest you take the time to get educated before making any more videos.

  • @boburanus69 Actually Bob, you're wrong on your definition of pagan. Basically a pagan is someone who worships a god or gods that is not a part of the abrahamic religions.

  • I don't know if i didn't fall into any categories or you misunderstood :) It's not about material stuff for me, it's about my faming Christian and me just being there for the company... heck, we don't even exchange gifts... we spend time together :)

  • Next you will be asking that stupid question 'Why do atheists use money when it says 'In GOD we trust' on it?"...............talk about stupid

  • OMG.....christmass is a fricken public holiday....we have no fricken choice but to take the day off work. secondly.......its a part of our upbringing...many of us have believed in the christian rubbish.. Its really just about presents and families... Also, christmass is a PAGAN holiday.so WHY DO CHRISTIANS CELEBRATE CHRISTMASS??? OM bloody God.

  • Everyone else says it so it must be true.... lol and i'm sure the emperor's new robes looked fantastic too.

  • On the topic of Christmas, the actual origins date way back before Christ when it was called Yule and was celebrated as a winter festivity that more commonly went with the Winter Solstice. It is Okay for anyone to celebrate Christmas from any perspective, it is just a holiday.

  • I would like to say I celebrate Christmas as a traditional holiday manner. Festivities, joy and Family gatherings. I also have a large Christian portion of my family whom I respect. Religious perspective does not change my morals or who I am as a person. I also respect your videos as you make conversations and speak in a more open perspective as opposed to some Christians on the internet that come across as hating fanatics.

  • I was one that asked if you'd show your daughter our responses, because it was answered for her and not so much for you. youre a brick wall so theres no sense in trying to convince you of anything. didnt mean to insult your parenting though.

  • I have to admit this video scared me a little bit..

Ur face scares the shit out of me on 5:52 when ur brain hits a wall and u go insane trying 2 make sense of the things that were said to u plus what u already know about christmas.

U admit christmas was STOLEN and yet you continue to try to make it sound like you are in the right by saying that christmas is inherently christian.

Nothing we celebrate has anything to do with Jesus. Your brain is struggling really hard, and ur face showed it.

  • Jezuzfreek why do YOU celebrate christmas if the bible even mentions it is against god?

Christmas has nothing to do with christianity! Its much older than christianity itself and I dare you to show me the part of the bible that even describes it.

There is nothing christian about christmas. Its pagan.

You should be the one answering your own question.

    Jeremiah 10:2-5

  • If you look up the definition of the holiday named 'Christmas', it is more than obvious that you will first find the explanation that it is a Christian holiday. The name is unique to the fact that it is a Christian celebration - only a Christian would call the holiday 'Christmas'. Your question asks - "Why do you celebrate Christmas?", and in the narrow definition of the holiday, atheists *don't*. They celebrate on the 25th of December, and it coincides with the holidays Christianty co-opted.

  • great video

  • Hey Jesusfreek: Did they say they celebrated it BECAUSE it was a pagan holiday, or did they merely say it wasn't exclusively a Christian holiday?

  • why are you still on youtube , how can you manage to be so dumb for such a long period of time? wow , impressive .

  • /watch?v=Ey6ZC9bXlEY&feature=g-vrec&context=G24f2abaRVAAAAAAAAAg

Just found a video PaulsEgo made on the subject waaay back in 2007.

  • Of course most of the world recognises Xmas as a Christian holiday - paganism is no where near as popular as Christianity - popularity it doesn't make it right.

  • We celebrate it not because of the religious aspects, but just because we like to spend time with our families. Most of us couldn't care less that its a religious holiday.

  • I still trade my kids' teeth under their pillow for money and tell them that the tooth fairy did it. I'm weird that way.

  • @jezuzfreek777 Thank you so much for making you videos. I thoroughly enjoy every single one of them. Not because you're making me get closer to gods or anything, but because I see my old self in you. My brain used to function in the exact same way and I even indoctrinated the innocent minds of my kids just like you are doing. Your videos remind me that I have chosen the right path as a devoted Atheist later in life. Thanks and keep the encouragement coming please.

  • @eth6706 Me too, same here, :D

  • @eth6706 May God be glorified. Your rejection of God in no way lessens his greatness.

  • @jezuzfreek777 It's pretty hard to lessen zero greatness.

  • @jezuzfreek777 I'm guessing you are referring to Poseidon. No no....Isis, yeah that is the god you are glorifying right? No...you're dyslexic and you're glorifying Spot the dog. I knew it..you're a dog lover too. Good boy..sit!!!

  • @jezuzfreek777 Your rejection of Zeus in no way lessens his greatness.

  • @jezuzfreek777 If only "God" could hold even an infinitesimal amount of greatness :)

  • I was raised in a religious home and celebrated Christmas for many years as a celebration of the birth jesus. I still celebrate the holiday, with no plans of stopping, I am an Atheist.

The reason why I continue to celebrate is simple. It is the one time of year that my family gets together with out fail. Nothing is aloud to get in the way, nothing is more important. Yes, we watch Christmas movies and listen to Christmas music, there is nothing symbolic in them to me, I merely enjoy them.

  • If only @jezuzfreek777 was a tad younger so he could see the error of his ways. You'd think that after YEARS of a constant pounding from the truth he'd get a clue that maybe, just maybe...he's a tad bit wrong. He seems like a nice guy so it's just sad to see him so closed minded and brainwashed.

  • @thone2008 yes!

  • @mrsamuelspade Gods bless your soul. You are thinking as clearly as I. @jezuzfreek777 on the other hand.....

  • @pivotman1 THANK GODS for people like you. I'm so glad the YouTube community is one of reasonable, logical, and skeptical people. INTELLIGENCE (and common sense) FTW!!!!!!

  • @0019josh7100 You are absurdly humorous and I cannot believe @jezuzfreek777 actually responded to your joke. LOLzzz

  • Christmas was a pagan holiday to begin with, Jesus was just added into it by the Vatican. It was not even celebrated in the U.S since the mid 1800s.

  • "stop celebrating the holidays that my religion claims to own or convert"

    no thanks!

  • Xmas is about Family not Religion

  • @whalecoree Agreed. The Christians need to lighten up and agree that it's not just their holiday. I could believe what @jezuzfreek777 said towards the end of the video. Terrible.

  • christmas has been associated with so many different religions that I just like to think it as a general holiday for everyone.

  • And also for the record I certainly wouldn't disparage anyone who's Christian from celebrating the holiday. You celebrate because of what it means to you and not because of it's origin. I respect that. Similarly I celebrate it because of what it means to me. Given that it is indeed something that was co-opted it seems rather silly to act as though there is some sort of divine authority or true meaning of christmas when in fact it was made up to bring in pagans.

  • @jezuzfreek777

I don't think you believe people say happy holidays so atheist won't be offended. .I think you know the reason is because there is numerous holidays this time of year. .I think you indoctrinate your daughter with this notion because you simply dislike atheist and try to paint atheism as the bad guy...I can't speak for all atheist but I have absolutely have no problem with merry christmas. America is suppose to be the melting pot of civilization. .Please try and be more tolerant..

  • Have you ever read Jeremiah 10:1-4?

  • I do plenty of things due to fleshly desires, I happen to enjoy indulging in my fleshly desires.

  • Honestly for quite awhile Christmas still very much resembled Saturnalia and essentially boiled down to a lot of drunken debauchery and lawlessness. Hence the reason why it was banned in England in 1649 because it was so ridiculously raucous. It wasn't really until the 19th century that you actually saw most non-catholic denominations of Christians embracing as it started to become more family friendly so to speak.
