    Don't forget that potting/starting soil has few nutrients, so the energy being used by the seedling is only what's stored in the seed itself unless you add some fertilizer to the mix. Leggy seedlings, especially on tomatoes, aren't terribly uncommon when you're starting indoors, so don't worry too much about the length.

  • no i dont think so. they just grow long and tall with the first 2 leaves, fall over and shrivel up and die

  • everytime i try to grow tomatoes from sed, they come up grow about 3 inches tall and skinny then fall over and die. What am i doing wrong?

    sounds like to much water. If that is the case, drain off excess water then put somewhere warm and dry for a few hours. If its not too cold sunlight will dry the STARTER MIX (no dirt) in an hour or so. Do the stems fall over in a place that looks thinner than the rest of the stem?
