  • Awesome place - awe-fully expensive place to live, tho!! I guess the "green" industry is alive and well - no secret there! HolySmoke please return to Nelson

  • @blueskies4evermore the holy smoke dude is in jail

  • @TheAy28 Seriously???? I knew the dude when he lived in Calgary. Is he still in jail? When did he go and how long is he in for?

  • @blueskies4evermore he went to jail awile ago thats why its closed down and i dont think the cops liked him having a store front shop that sells weed lol and he will be in jail for a lil bit i dont know how much but however much a canibis voilation is so by the time he is back ill be like old enough to buy frome his store and i wont have to do that gay sh*t where i have to track down a dealer

  • @TheAy28 Who's the Holy Smoke guy?

  • nelson is awesome, we have sports, old buildings, summer programs, good schools, big parks, lots of nature, and tons of nice people who don't descriminate you based on a stereotypes made by douche bags, we also have animals shelters and not all of us smoke at all, we have neat car shows too!

  • Ummmm, I took the picture of the kids in the lawn labyrinth... I don't mind your using it, but would have appreciated a notification...

  • great place.. Love Nelson!

  • Nelson is the Best Place in the world!! I live in Vancouver and have been vacationing in Nelson for over 35 yrs.

  • Nelson is nice, but there is too many douche bags, its cliquey, is snobby, its expensive, it has too many uptight hippies that think they are better than everyone (but know they aren't) its its full of hippocreates that burn lots of gas in big vans while complaining about global warming. Nelson is just pretty and the buildings are nice, the people aren't the orignals they have been replaces by look alikes and wanna bess, half the town was born in american - nuff said i

  • @snapituppa wow i seriously don't think you know what your talking about. Nelson has lots of good stuff going on. It's a very sustainable town, with lots of creative individuals who care about the environment and have a very good sense of community. I think you just haven't seen the true Nelson.

  • @snapituppa have you actually seen the real nelson? it doesnt seem like it,, hippies dont think they're better than everyone else. then they wouldnt be hippies. they love everyone around them-people and earth <3 and weed

  • Live here...<3

  • @101CuiteKitty your probably an emo hippy who smokes weed then

  • @Great1Ones I HEART BLACK but seriously whats wrong with emo hippies that smoke weed?

  • @veryshortname everything, they stink and there lazy.

  • @Great1Ones ahaha nice try on the hate... shit and your even from nelson? I bet your parents are hippies lol. this is pointless banter anyways...

  • @Great1Ones if us Nelsonites stink and we're lazy, at least we're not lacking our spelling skills...they're*

  • @Great1Ones you seriously have horrible grammar skills :D tsk i smoke weed and i know this. you seriously love to make assumptions of other people, don't you?

  • @CaraAsoleada yea i love it.

    You stink.

  • ya! im moving there in 3 months :)

  • @MrHellomeitsmeagain I agree that many hippies in this area are unrealistic about their own impact on the environment and also are unwilling to entertain anyone's viewpoint that does not reinforce their own. It seems to me you are attacking a specific group of people you have met in the Nelson area. My inference is that you are doing so out of a place of egoism and that the group to which you are referring does not live up to your standards of environmentalism.

  • @MrHellomeitsmeagain cont... The thing that makes Nelson special to me is the surrounding area, and the breathtaking natural beauty that is at every step. There are many equally beautiful places in the world but Nelsonites love our area because of our shared memories of the trails, rivers and mountains that surround us. People infuse landmarks here into our language, and enjoy the natural playground that avails itself. The more you love the outdoors the more you belong in Nelson.

  • @MrHellomeitsmeagain I do not think there is a town that was founded in the early 1900s that was not done so by businessmen and men in their employ. I am a third generation Nelsonite and you are correct in asserting the town has changed its attitude greatly since its conception. Nelson used to be a very conservative community, and there are still many moderate people in the area who are not hippies. Nelson is a special town because people mostly get along regardless of their views.

  • I love Nelson, too! (Coming from a guy, that might invoke strange scenarios for those who enjoy The Simpsons, lol.) I was there for the first time only four weeks ago (I live in Illinois). Yet another thing that makes me WISH I HAD BEEN BORN CANADIAN. I hope to get back some day, it may be the most wonderful smaller city I've ever visited.

  • @prairielooner If you are a natural easy going person, you'd love this place, i grew up there, and brought a friend for a visit now hes moving there.

  • @invectrum --

It may be true that somebody offered me the holy smoke within two hours of my arrival, but if that hadn't happened it wouldn't matter. A person doesn't have to be a stoner to appreciate Nelson, not at all, and the Nelson charm wasn't lost at all when I was no longer high. Now 105 days later I'm still missing the place in a big way. But if everybody wants to move there, where would they go, and would a huge influx (boosting the population to 70,000) ruin a good thing?

  • @prairielooner depends if this inflation of 60,000 people have the money to buy property (very expensive) or if they plan on renting, in that case there just isnt enough room, period. But people are moving there all the time, and also people are moving away all the time to look for work, you might get sick of the party scene like i did and wanted to goto school and progress in life, two years later i visited and the mountains amazed me, i miss them.

  • @invectrum

I met a Jerred and his girlfriend while there, also a blonde haired young guy hiker and I WISH I could remember his name. Running into him again in Tofino (a very difficult 900km away, with the "distraction" of the Vancouver metro area along the way) a week later, was probably a message we were supposed to keep in touch, but I was so surprised that it didn't occur to me, LOL. That kind of thing has happened to me three times in Canada and NEVER in the US, what's up with that?

  • @invectrum

I hope to get back to Nelson. You're right, invectrum, and Nelson actually CALLS FORTH any laid-back and easygoing traits a person might have, and that felt entirely wonderful!

  • @prairielooner sometimes being in alberta finding a really chill laid back person to hang out with seems like they're few and far between, but in nelson its like almost everyone you meet and hang out with are aweesome. Not to mention so much local music talent and art/great food.

  • @CANvsDK fights still go down, especially if people go there to fight...but on the whole its so chill....keep in mind its a little drug town too, not just hippies....where drugs are violence is. But im living in alberta and these people are asshole....ive never even heard of a stabbing in nelson, thats why it feels safer to me.
