Don't use wet sponge to clean your soldering iron tip. It puts a lot of stress on it. Use Scotchbrite Stainless Steel Scrubbing Pad or similar. That's what we use at work. It'll keep the tips lasting longer.
BTW we have a F-16 throttle at work. Just the handle runs $8000.
Nice work! Just a tip: Put solder on one pad only to avoid bending and cracking the first solder joint when forcing the diode down for the second.
