I bought this door new and have only had it installed maybe two months. Woke up this morning and the dogs were not inside because the motor was hardly working. Two collars and a door all over $300 and ripped off as far as I'm concerned. I'm switching to the power pet door. At least it's not as likely to burn up since its just a flap door and it's more common and much cheaper. Screw this garbage.
That's impossible with this door since the panel is returned by gravity not the motor. The panel itself weighs only 2 pounds so even in the worst case senario the panel could not choke or suffocate any living thing larger than say, a mouse. 2nd, there is an auto retract safety feature that raises the panel if it encounters an obstruction on the way down, You may think I am a little crazy to have even tried this but, I can tell you from experiment that the door will can not harm a kitten.

until it malfunctions and chokes your pet, suffocating it to death
