And this means nothing to YouTubers, but a great big shout-out and may you rest in peace to my cousin Paul, who took me for a tour of the WKYT studios one Saturday afternoon (he knew someone who worked there) back around that time (1972?). We love ya Paul, gone 14 years this summer and never a day goes by.. Love, Matthew and Daddy!
I remember the "Because They're Young" sign-on but never knew the name of the instrumental piece until I read this. If anyone could upload that, it would be great! Also, their news opening theme and graphics from around 1972-1975 would be a real find. It was a screen split in four quarters (I think) with alternating clips of video, and another instrumental I don't know the name of, but I'd know if I heard it. 35 years later I can still whistle it!
If you think that is dated, yu should have seen the Sign-On video that WKYT used up until the mid to late 1980s. It was a 1966 Ampex Color Video Tape set to the 1958 Record, "Because They're Young," by Duane Eddy with a primative 1966 plain white Chroma-Key logo that said, WKYT "Color" Television 27.
