I think it should be mentioned in a little blurb box or something that you must make sure your microphone can handle a tap like that.
For example, tapping a ribbon mic or maybe even a wide diaphragm capacitor/condenser mic may damage the transducing element by knocking it out of place. This would result in a future inability to capture the entire frequency spectrum of some, if not all sounds.
@Tripbag Good call, I wasn't thinking clearly when setting up this tutorial... I used an SM 58 for this tutorial, and you should never tap any high end ribbon or condenser mics. Also I am not tapping hard at all... I mean barely tapping with the input turned up to get a clear signal. (I was also tapping the side of the microphone, not the center). I will make a note on the video to clear this up!
@DJZilos, Other than that one minute detail, this is a great tutorial by the way, both for technique and for Ableton specific functions in general - especially for beginners to Live such as myself.
pretty nice! maybe next time just mention what hot keys you are using to highlight, duplicate, etc.. next time. you move pretty fast and since i'm still a beginner that sort of stuff loses me. and also. how come you use an audio file for your kick drum instead of a midi kickdrum like the ones that come with the program?
@ultraduckling14 Sorry, I had the option to show the keys i press on the bottom, but i guess it goes too fast still :) Im not sure what you mean about the midi kickdrums, but midi is information, not a sample or a waveform. Your kick drums will always be in a waveform (audio) format, or coming from an oscillator from a synth instrument that your MIDI will trigger to play. I chose this as just one method of making your own kick :) I use sample libraries for most of my productions :) Thx!
tapping a microphone? are you serious?

I mean, it would be silly to give any microphone a heavy flogging, but some people might assume a big smack equals a big fat kick
