  • My GOD, today's music is terrible, they should go back to the sound of the 80s. Even the rap in the 80s was great. No wonder the record industry is going broke, its all crap music today, even metal, its all crap.

I too grew up in the 80s, I was in New Wave bands, and later in Hair Metal bands, and I wouldn't trade my 80s days for anything, the best time to be alive.

The best music, the best movies, best TV shows and to top this, rap and grunge was in the underground.

  • gr8 guitar sound!......peace.

  • i like a flock of seagulls forever

  • reminds me of my gf :)

  • Great song! He looks like a barn owl though...

  • Good song!

  • @IAmTheIlluminati666 Yes, his name is Mike Score.

  • The 80s and 90s had a lot of great music. A lot of great bands, but also a lot of no-so-great ones who imitated others and just wanted to come along for the ride and some fast money.

These guys are a good example, a weak monotone song with ripoff u2 guitar, looking weird without a purpose behind it. No wonder they got mentioned in Pulp Fiction as a example of bad 80s excessive behaviour.

  • @girlie347 you make a valid point.. i have to say though, i've come to appreciate them a little bit more than I used to. they are not a one-hit wonder and still have several songs played on the radio after 25-30 years.. not a lot of bands of the era can say that

  • Woah his hair look's like that dinosaur with a crown. Or is an alien from star trek? Anyway, I'm glad I heard this song!

  • Nice song!!!

  • fuck black eyed peas and these gay musics.

  • ♪♫ Love the way the bass player dances!!

  • Cool hair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Gotta love the owl haircut.

  • how can people say they are one hit wonders when they pump out truly 80's esque tunes like this.

  • This great song reached #30 in early 1983. (U.S., Billboard)

  • After taking a dare I went to a Flock of Seagulls/Fix concert back in 1982. I have been a fan of both ever since.

  • 1. this aint noisy crap , wanna here noisy crap dear its the music playing now days thats noisy ,i was told once dont like it dont listen to it plain and simple! leave this to people like me that enjoy it like it and love it !

  • UNDERRATED SONG!!! Was awesome when it came out and unheard of for its time!! STILL ROCKS!!! Thumbs up if ya agree!!

  • I was born in 1905.Ruth Etting was a hundred times better than this noisy crap.

  • @stockholm222 - you suck and are an idiot, you certainly must be a 90's baby with no musical appreciation

  • @stockholm222 I agree. I'll take Echo and The Bunnymen over this wanking any day.

  • @stockholm222 Are you kidding me? i have respect and admiration, for old classics. My faverite Big Band artist, is Glenn Miller But the Eighties was the decade, with the best music. And not to be Rude. But, aren't you like over 105 yrs old?

  • HACK

  • @santorottis hahahahaha, str8 hack

  • this crazy hairstyle never dies!

  • i was not born in the 80's but th late 70's the 80's was very cool real music

  • wish i was born in the 80s

  • I really love how the guitar plays in the beginning its awesome :D and of course the whole song is too :x

  • Very similar to the Psychedelic Furs' "Heaven"

  • @savannahwolf Wow, you're right. I never noticed that! Seagulls were first, though.

  • @savannahwolf which came much later

  • Is it just me ...or is that Draco Malfoy on bass? :D

  • @duellist yeah. i have been wondering the same thing;)

  • @duellist Frank Maudsley, If I remember his name right. I thought he looked like Bill Murray in the "The More You Live The More You Love" Video...

  • Exclamation point. Case closed.

  • I grew up in the 80's wish we could go back, tons of great songs came out of that era!

  • @MrVideoman44

Not just tons of great songs but much better ones than nowadays...

  • @MrVideoman44

If you love the 80's turn to absolute radio to here some great songs

  • Ok, it's time. Every period of great pop seems to be followed by a decade of not so great to shitty music, the mid to late 60s, early to mid 80s, mid to late 90s, then the last horrible decade of music in which retro recycling had to fill the void. Now they're deep into a retro kick of late 90s dance, when that peters out we might finally hear something new and actually worth listening to and buying. I'm picking up my guitar.

  • @inthebiscuits Cool! Let us in on your mad licks. I'm looking forward to hearing you play, man!!! Go for it! Keep me posted when you crank it out...

  • you can TRY to be as cool as paul reynolds. TRY...(but you will fail)

  • Don't know about this> Could be interesting!!!!

  • 9 people don't know what good music is and would rather listen to Justin Beiber

  • 80's music IS the best....some of the best metal came out in the 80's too....and it's the same decade disco died (thank god)

  • the guitarist was not even 18 at the time

  • Saw them live last night at Brighton centre and loved this song.

  • Gosh, is that Donald Trump?

  • Always been a fan, but Mike's hair still freaks me out.

  • this music connects directly with my soul

  • beautifull! Such a simple rif made this song so atmospheric, realy deap.

  • Great music, ridicolous haircut!

  • Gotta love the 80's. I miss them. Some of the best music came from that decade.

  • british wolverine!

  • lot better than music we here these days.

  • gran tema de los 80 saludos desde chile

  • Donald Trump has the same hairdo...

I dont know who started it...but..

    I like it!

  • I sooooo love new wave. But I am old enough to love it, lol

  • tai yra nuostabu

  • WOW!!!...Loook At A 20 Year Old "Reno" Shread Those Strings!!!....To Bad He Was Too Young To Handle All The Booze And Who Knows What Else (Sniff, Sniff) As He Was Just A Quiet Nerdy Guy From Liverpool in 1980, And 2 Years Later, He Is Jamming With Three 30' Somethings Across The Globe Who By The Way Had This Little Known Band (At The Time) Backing Them Up At Concerts Called...Duran, Duran!!!....Paul "RENO" is Alive and Well Today Because He Followed Doctors Advice To Cool It, And in '84 He Did!

  • @SuperSeanreilly sounds like you didn't take the doc's advice, unfortunately.

  • An Inmortal clasicc of the new wave era.... i can't get tired of listening this master piece... you all most hear the version of eleven shadows... i'ts amazing

  • 7 justin bieber fans dont like this

  • @jwb34 lol...so true! fuck the shit being played today.

  • great song and video. But the wave on the lead singers head has got to go!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Angeleyes051 but its on theme with the band name!

  • It's Lady Gaga's dad.....Dada Gaga.

Ah, the smell of Aquanet and parachute pants sure take me back.

  • @Hovenaut I love the lead singer's hair styles that were unique and alien-like...but he contributed to the hole in the ozone layer right along with Daisy Fuentes and Bonnie Tyler! But I ain't mad at them...teased hair was a hairstyle shift as a result of 70's backlash. It was like saying, "It's the 80s and we hate all those flat haired Marcia Brady wanna be's that dominated the terrible 70s!"

  • damn there needs to be a love button for this song not a like button !

  • Thumbs up if Sym-Bionic Titan brought you here!

  • ha ha ha i like the hairstyle of that guy!!

  • I was born in 69' and graduated HS in 1987, this is my era. All these old songs are great!

  • These guys were like shoegaze before shoegaze was shoegaze.

  • haha, parachute pants, mousses, arcades, saturday morning cartoons, and after school specials.

  • i saw your eyes

    and you made me smile

    for a little while

    i was falling in looooooooove

    i saw your eyes

    and you touched my mind

    although it took a while

    i was falling in love................................

this song thrives in my memory

  • 6 people spaced out.

  • @exasee

Their love is just not space age.

  • Paul did an AMAZING guitar piece to this this song!

this song doesnt have alot of words but it really has alot of meaning it is simply beautiful and the true meaning of the word "love" is used so perfectly and correctly !

    Afos is the best :)!

  • I LOVE this song it brings back those good ol memories Derek you are so missed, we were so young and in love. We had twenty two wonderful years together! ;(

    Derek Guy Suinn 4/14/64~8/26/10

  • @lisadereklauren

    Was he your husband?

  • how did he do his hair

  • The 80's were sooo much fun and I was fortunate enough to be a teen during those years :)

  • diggin the hair

  • such a sick song

  • Mmm, electric.

  • If I was on a starship traveling to another galaxy, I'd want this song blasting on my starship speakers as I passed through the stars. Great song, musicians. It may be about 20,000 years before its time.

  • I even hade the same haircut as the singer for alittle while.

  • best music is 80's music. PERIOD!

  • @edfallen8 AGREED. The 90's were good too but if you carefully take notice, every decade since the 80's gets shittier and shittier music. Believe it or not, music will get even more worse than it is today! ;P

  • @edfallen8 YES, the most hits ever in the history of mankind! It is not the best music in the Universe but it bests at least half the galaxies out there. :)

  • beutiful wave

  • Did Alex Lifeson totally rip off this guys guitar tone for the Grace Under Pressure album or what?

  • @miamigroove A lot of bands were using that guitar tone back then. Even Rush. lol

But the Flock guitarist undoubtedly ripped off Andy Summers' tone from the Police. Everyone's guilty.

Can't blame them though... that super chorusy-tap-delayed guitar sound was ledge.

  • These were the best days to be alive :)

  • @skankcitytitty You know, they really were. :)

  • His Hairstyle is as embarassing today as it was all those years ago.

  • @pondmaker His hair was fabulous!

  • I grew up in the 80's and got to experience all the old MTV days watching these guys man this brings back some memories. FHS c/o 88.

  • @choinumni4 is fhs the name of your high school??

  • i wish we could go back to the 80's they dnt make music like this anymore!! this song is the JAM

  • My awesome grandmother died today but she luved this beautiful song!!!

  • @DizzleHell god rest her soul .. how old was her wen she left ? I'll bet she is stll an 80's fan were she is now.

  • @DizzleHell ---- Sorry to hear about your grandmother.... awesome, indeed, to love this song... while in her prime!

  • @DizzleHell Your grandmother had excellent taste. May she rest in peace.

  • Cool song :)

  • Man I was a toddler in the late 80s, and those type of music played around me. 80s artist had to focus a lot on there songs, and it is why their music last that long even into today world. But most nowadays artist song are meanless, not memorable(you forget it after six months). Focus on special effect video for mill. Only a few of great artist are left. Soon, song will so crappy people will have to go a listen to old song for entertainment, just like to sci fi films.

  • Great song! Only thing I liked about the 80s was the music.

  • Firebirds Rock!

  • space hair

  • if goku and sonic had a child, his hair would look like this.

  • These guys had such an ability to write a classic piece of music.

  • I grew up in the 80s, so I remember Flock of Seagulls, although the only song I really remembered was I ran. I heard this on the piped music at the gym last week and to me it had that Flock of Seagulls sound, so it started me searching here on the "the tube" Great song, love the guitar work.

  • @Deputybull The guitar work is indeed impressive. The guitarist (known as Reno) was only 15 or 16 when this song was recorded. A Flock Of Seagulls were never the same after his departure.

  • Rules

  • sym-bionic titan me to lol

  • Thanks to Sym-Bionic Titan for bringin this masterpiece back to younger generations to discover.

  • @Manmonstermecha dude that show is awesome!! I knew about the song b4 the show, but the way everything came together on that episode made me like the song so much more

  • @Manmonstermecha i no right i heard this on symbionic titan and hunted for this song forever

  • @Manmonstermecha too bad they cancelled it.

  • Ahhhh....the dawn of music television...before it's untimely demise.

  • oh my god my dad had dad hair. oh im 14 so hes 43 got it

  • still tumbs-up for this song

  • Sym- Bionic titan (x

  • @thefourjellies

This is how i found this song.

  • @thefourjellies tartakovsky has great taste in music.

  • @thefourjellies That's how I found out about it. AWESOME SONG and the show looks pretty good.

  • Yes, coming of age in the 80's was an amazing experience. This song reminds me of driving around in my jeep with the top off in the summertime in Texas when I was 16...not a care in the world! Happy to see people still enjoying it.

  • Gotta love the 80's..

  • i pump iron 2 this song! yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

  • Fantástica musica. Realmente los 80! fueron los mejores años para la musica. Habia creatividad, no como hoy que es solo decadencia tanto en musica como en textos musicales.

  • the guitar wrapped it up nicely, electricity is awesome

  • AFOS was the only band that merged rock into wave. I heard that Frank the bassist was the one who found Paul R. If it wasnt for Frank AFOS wouldn't of been here. I want to know what Frank knew about Paul that nobody else knew. That faithful night Rock-wave was born. The evolutionary pinnacle of New-Wave. Not even The Cure, Love and Rockets, U2, and the countless other clones that AFOS produced God bless Paul, Frank, Mike and Ali you should be in the Rock and Roll hall of fame.

  • I graduated in 84. The 80's were amazing man. I wore the hell out of this cassette. Its funny cause I was a total metal head.

  • I must be on crazy pills because the 80's was....um ridiculous. The clothes the hair, the everything. I was a victim of the bad clothes and hair. Good thing I stuck it out and was into metal music. Question? How many people posting here are Britz or Europeans?

  • @EricAntonik stick to power pop posers like motley hymey , guns & roses that have u inserting rodents in your colon. USA all the way

  • @3rdStoneFromTheSun Baaahahahhah!!! I don't like those bands either, so your colon stuffing comment is rather hilarious than insulting. 80's pop was still wretched.

  • @EricAntonik this may be true...but it's no more ridiculous than the styles and music of today...which also suck, but don't have the benefit of bringing nostalgia...

  • @LoyalRaiderFan you so right, now is ringtone music,

  • @01godkiller 40s ;)

  • U2 have nothing on this!!

Bloody Irish could never hold a candle to Liverpool!!

    Just beautiful!!

  • @UriahHeep100 U2 isn't bad though, yes these guys are better but still......

  • I'm Currently Accepting Donations to Build a Time Machine Back to the 80's.

  • actually probably my favorite AFS song. It's so pure and innocent, I love this era for that reason.

  • MAN,,,,, I MISS THE 80's ......WAITING FOR THE NEXT NIRVANA

  • If ever there were a song I could make into a penis shaped necklace and wear around my neck everyday....This would be it.

  • art in music - just watch the bassist move to it. incredible group...wish I could go back and see them live

  • can't get enough of for those evanescent guitar rifts

  • Incredible album. Would they have been taken more seriously sans the hairdo? A shame some critics couldn't get past it.

  • prodigy ripped his style off

  • i didn't know anything about this song till i saw kickin it old skool. then i heard it at the end of the movie. i was born n da 80's so i was a baby, but im jamming it now. lol 30 years later

  • Sick song brahhhhh 8D

  • The amazing guitar playing in this song STILL lights my soul on fire! Has to be one of the most under rated guitarists ever. Perfect note choice and tone. Every time I hear this I wonder what they must have been thinking when it first came together during live rehearsals....what a lucky bunch of lads!

  • Yes this era was some kind of wonder, that just stays within one to the present, since music and words aren't the same as before, that makes you sense the appreciation of the time being in the 80's, and of course to what it is in time.

  • @ssouxieQ - I totally agree!!!

  • @audiotrax2000

Especially when you consider that Paul Reynolds was just a kid. Too bad the gruelling touring schedule cost him his health. Record companies should treat great pop bands like the artists they are.

  • @audiotrax2000 what a lucky bunch of lads lol

  • @audiotrax2000 yes, i love the simplicity of it. Less is so often more - great song

  • YES DA 80S WAS THE END OF A GOOD ERA THINGS WAS SO SIMPLE AND MUSIC WAS PURE AND REAL EVEN WHAT WE WATCHED GOOD TIMES GILIGANS ISLAND AND SO ON SHIT I REMEMBER THEM SAYING THINGS WERE GOING TO CHANGE WERE DA TIME MACHINE WANT A ONE WAY TICKET CLASS OF 86 IN DA HOUSE DIS SONG IZ SOLID WELL PEACE OUT ALOHAS ISLAND BOI OUT

  • The 80's was washed away by 40 oz beers

  • yes i envy those who were teens in the 80's, the best era ever and great music!!!

  • @MegaDama123 i'm one of those teens from the 80s... it was a great era for music :)

  • @MegaDama123 I dont think I have EVER heard anyone say that but ill tell you what, from someone that was there, it was fucking MONEY!!!

  • @AchromaticAdulation I can second that, my friend! The cool clubs and women that were into this, as well as some other things that can't be mentioned.

  • My dad was that's how I know about this, but I do try to keep in touch with its awesomeness! @MegaDama123

  • @MegaDama123

Better yet, it was better to be in your 20s during the 80s. Then you could get in the bars, and you got all the 60s and 70s stuff while growing up too. Great times!

  • @MegaDama123 Lets not forget ...When Mtv actually was about the M(usic) in M tv!

  • @MegaDama123 I feel blessed that I grew up listening to these wonderful bands...

  • @MegaDama123

I got it even better. I was a preteen when this song came out, so I was able to listen to great hits like this, and not get hassled for watching the Transformers and G.I. Joe cartoons

  • @MegaDama123 ....not really

  • @MegaDama123 OMFG , I THINK EXACTLY THE SAME WAY ...

  • @MegaDama123

I know, I want to invent a time machine and go back and rock away with the big hoop earrings and hair.

  • Best song they ever did!! Live the 80"sssss

  • ben elton on the guitar!!!! great days. I didn't realise at the time that they would be my best days--so far anyway. i'm only bloody 40

  • It depresses me that I wasnt around in the 80's :(

although the 90s had good music...Its not the same

  • Class of '85 grad. I totally agree. Great times, fun music. LIKE TOTALLY!!!!!!
