I know Redglare was responsible for the destruction of Mindfang's fleet and her imprisonment, but on the other hand, Mindfang did kill Redglare (by mind contolling a crowd of onlookers to mob and hang Redglare instead of her). Second.(spoiler warning) Tavros unwittingly caused Terezi's blindness, Grandpa's death(and saving Jade's life!) and his own death might have caused character development in Vriska. He's done a lot, thanks.

All of these arguments are now moot as both the good Doctor and Hussie(on his formspring) have explained everything in the latest updates. The full explanation would not fit on one post, so I won't even bother attempting to sum it up. All I will say is that the Empress (Feferi's ancestor) is the one who set up the blood caste, and the reason why is due to the deal made with Echidna; the descendants were not strong enough the first time, so they needed to be tougher, tempered through years of war
