I used to have the biggest crush on him when I was younger, I was 16 when I herd this song and i was in lurve lol. The things we do huh. Great song though.
this guy is older than rick astley by twenty years and was the leadd singer for the 70's aussie superband "Sherbet" besides it was a brillant song then and is a brillant song still.
YouTube is saying that my character count for part 2 of my message to abhis511 is over the limit of 500 (even though under the comment box it says that I have 2 characters remaining). I typed each letter in myself and saw the remaining character count go down progressively.
If have copied the remaining lyrics into a private message for abhis511 and asked him to try to post it here. Maybe I am posting too many successive comments. Not sure...
I saw your comment and put myself to the task of answering it. I have not been able to find out who the woman is but I am waiting for a call from Daryl Braithwaite's current manager. These things are very difficult because the clip is so old and the music industry changes very quickly.
The acoustic intro, the dramatic drums, the excellent vocal and melody. This song is uniquely beautiful. My favourite line . . ."nobody else, receives the signals that I send".
great song - he just keeps getting better and better as he gets older - have a look at his version of "Pity the Child" from the musical Chess, recorded in 1996. Fabulous stuff. He has a newish album, too, The Lemon Tree, available from his website.
One of my all time favourite aussie songs. Up there with Your the voice, Working class man and Great southern land. Could never get tired of listening to this, I miss the 80's, such an easier time.
WOW, I may have seen this in the late 80s, as opening scene of "Central Station" looks familiar. Great that "C.Station" record store is featured in the clip. Onto the main thing, THIS track literally has me in tears. Used to hear it on the radio & was instantly drawn to it's beauty, The harmonies, melody, structire, emotion & voice is just heart melting! THIS should of been a bigger hit than all of Daryl's others. 3:29 to 3:33 is the most immaculate key change + Thanks SO deeply for posing this*
For some weird reason I thought Dazza was lame when he was kicking about in the 80s\90s. Only now I have just realised he is another Oz legend. Add him to the bucket of Ozzie music legends. Farkin big bucket.......
Ahhh, great song. Great clip too, filmed in st. Kilda, Victoria :)

This was released in 1988 in Australia, after daryl had been away from the music scene for a while. A great comeback if there ever was one.

I guess its you
Though my eyes may wander
All I do
Seems the point of you
It wont be long
Though it may seem much longer
