the clown idea couldn't make the movie any scarier & especially the fact that he was spiritual & physical entity at the same time ..brilliant spookiness & very mind fucking
Stephen King's scary as shit in his books, funny as hell in real life. Can you not like a guy like this?
Now, about the movie.
I don't discredit the makers for trying, because Lord knows they did. But the novel IT is such a dynamically imaginative piece, that I cannot find a possible way to turn it into a more visual medium. For God's Sakes, if you look in the Deadlights you go into endless shock that is essentially death. How do you do that in a movie? I recommend the book and only the book.
I like steven king, but the whole ronald macdonald story was soooooo painfully fabricated. Especially the little tidbits about him smoking and drinking.
@grantant9 Lol, I watched it when I was seven and didn't sleep for three days. After that, it pretty much screwed with the next five years of my life.
@grant I was the same way, everytime I closed my eyes in the shower i would always think that fucking clown would pop out of the drain and kill me after i opened them back up.
I was a kid and found it scary, too. But now as an ADULT, having read the book I can tell you it's far scarier, nothing VISUAL in that movie is as scary as some of the stuff you read in the novel. So far the best Stephen King novel I have read in my own opinion.
he is my favorite author of all time,i think that The Dark Tower series is his best work(in my opinion),along with The Stand. The Dark Tower books aren't really scary just weird,in a positive way
@Beatles4eva3 You should check it out sometime. I'd have to say "IT" is my favorite Stephen King novel (and it has nothing to do with IT being one of the first horror movies I ever saw as a kid lol). Even now, for some weird reason, I still find something about the final line of the book sad or bittersweet when I think of it.
There is an American/UK book which is so terrifying it is meant to be HAUNTED. Barnes & Noble have recalled 50,000 copies because customers were freaking out over it. It has been BANNED in Italy.
It's called 'Thirteen Volume One'. Google it or get it on Amazon before it's completely banned. IT WILL TERRIFY YOU!!!
When I was a kid, I was terrified of clowns too. We had an old painting of a "sad clown" that hung in the basement, and I always wondered "if that's a man, why the hell is he wearing lipstick?!?"
In the book, his powers were so amazing it made the movie version seem like a baby ant. He was apparently alive since the beginning of time, making him older then the Devil (Satan) himself!!!! If not for his ONLY weakness of changing into a physical form every 30 or so years, he could must likely kill the Devil and rule the world and only God would be able to stop him. Damn the multiverse theory!!! Because of the theory, Pennywise could be real in a different dimension and crossover to ours!!!!

this guy is an idiot, i can't believe people even compare him to stephenie meyer !, she is a legend, twilight is the best book ever <3 !. robert pattinson <3, this guy is sooo jealous of her success and has an obvious case of old world blues
@Khaenus i was kidding, i know twilight is shit, just wanted to see your reaction. i'm a 15 year old guy, and i'm not gay, i like Stephen king but some of his movies are kinda crap, no where near as bad as twilight though, New Moon remains my least favourite film ever, i'd rather watch The Room
@improvisedcinema1 Stephen King writes books. Not movies. He doesn't have much control at all over how his movies turn out. Read the Shining, then watch the movie. Do you really think he would change (and imo, butcher) that much? No.
@MusicalMikus ye i know, just saying the film adaptations except for The Shining, The shawshank redemption and The Green Mile have been hugely unpopular, The tommy knockers, IT, The langoliers. They all suck
If I could read minds, I WOULD RUN LIKE HELL and hide in a lead freakin box chanting "lalalalalalalalalala" if I EVER saw Stephen King sauntering my way.....
@VlogMan100 was it that bad? I can't remember much of the movie but I've always heard the 1st half when they're kids is pretty good but the part where they're grown up is bad.
Gosh, he`s brilliant! He`s so clever and witty it`s almost scary. Trully, no interviewer stands a chance against him. And h is so true and natural and spontneous. God, I love him!
There is an entire generation scared to death about clown thanks to this brilliant man. He´s got the gift to turn the dullest thing in the best horror story...
@KDMJ1095 I know man, I was being sarcastic haha. Conan clearly missed the point, as do a lot of people I agree. I can't tell you how many times I've heard people talk about "It the Clown".
Stephen is one psycho-freak. He's awesome, but his obvious weirdness (in a good way), is, in it's way, the reason his stories are so frightening the way they are, and abandoned, and he dares to say and write such gory, freaky, twisted events. It's like every other author's afraid to, or something.
