shhhs- stop saying how great portland is. we don't want the whole world moving here. if someone asks "what's portland like?" just tell them "it rains all the time"
As a transplanted Arizonan myself (originally from CA), I just had to laugh at your comment. Ever hear of a "snow bird?" Arizona knows all about transplants that's for sure!
lol, i'm sure allot of places have more than their fair share. No offense meant, and most transplants are cool. It's just annoying when people move here, and do nothing but complain about everything that makes the Pacific NW great!
PS: AND THEN WE WILL ORGANIZE ALSO GOOD MUSIC FOR YOU, AND I WILL SING ESPECIALLY FOR U, - ANY FAVORITE SONG WHICH U WANT - LIKE BEYONCE DID AND MORe BETTA !! HEHE... MANY OTHERS CAN HAVE ALSO GOOD OR BETTA VOICES! DOESNT MATTER-MUSIC WILL LEAD U AND US AND KEEP US TOGETHER TO THAT WHAT WE ARE JOINING TO DO FOR OUR FUTURE AND OUR PLANET !! YESS!! WE CAN !! BARACK U MUST SURELY COME ALSO TO AUSTRIA OK ? NOT ONLY TO MUNICH!! EVERYBODY ´s waiting! So make a date, and when u have time PLEAAASE COME ON OVER TO OUR GREAT LAND IN EUROPE!!! I will never forget the amazing excitement and energy of that crowd, that day, in Portland.
And on election night, the city went wild with joy and relief!
Seeing the 2 million at inauguration was incredibly moving. We did it! We need to remember not to be complacent , we need to continue to shout out to save this country from the abuses of the previous administration and their like.
Portland Rocks! We now have a real President we can all be proud of! Barack Obama is The Man and Now is the Time! He is a good man who truly loves America and it's people! We need to all forget our differences (skin color) and unite to work with our new President and help fix the mess of these last 8 Bush years! Let's Start by bringing our troops home NOW! God Bless our new President! Thank You Dear God! Yes We Can!
I suppose trickle down worked. It's amazing how many millions of jobs were created (lost)and how the Treasury is flush with surpluses because of the millions of new workers paying into the tax system (record deficit, record debt, 750,000 job losses this year). Your Cuba example is just a distraction from the wreckage of this economy.
Socialism for the ultra rich: good. Tax cuts for the middle class: bad. Really, I'm getting tired of pointing out the obvious, especially to a non voter.
Stupid? You're projecting. In addition, you don't even know the facts...typical of someone that doesn't vote. You call tax cuts for the lower and middle class one step toward communism? What do you call MORE tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires. You have to put more money in the hands of the working people via tax cuts not venture capitalists. They are already paying less by percentage of income. I would say don't vote against your own best interest, but again, you don't vote.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
eople do something!!
I'm a nonpartisan and I don't vote! I just want to ask everyone out there to ask yourself if you are not affected by Obama's strong charisma.
Look at the history of any charismatic but infamous politicians in the world history and make your own judgement. This person is full of charisma but he is indeed empty. Make your own observation around you. Many voters liked him for no reason.... This is dangerous.
Graduated with honors from Columbia University with a degree in International Relations, First African-American President of the Harvard Law Review, wrote 2 bestsellers, has raised more funds than any campaign in history, mainly from small donors. Please explain how he is "indeed empty." What have you accomplished and if you don't even bother voting why are you bothering to even comment at all?
Your plea, "people do something!!" is a perfect phrase for what this election is about - people doing something. People all across this country and engaged, registering in record numbers all because of Obama's strong charisma. But what you obviously don't get is that it's not about Barack the man, but what he inspires in Americans...a call to do more, be more, expect more. His supporters get it and it's a shame that you don't - why should you? You don't vote, you've got no skin in the game.
Obama's a better candidate than John Mccain in every way. Better ideas, better charisma, better campaign songs, better convention, better Vice Presidential pick damn I could go on all day! I'm voting early people. Tomorrow I take my stand towards putting Barack Obama and Joe Biden in the White House. Get out to vote and do the same as soon as you can!!! We can't afford a 3rd Bush term and war with Iran which a John Mccain presidency would most certainly bring.
is it just me or are all the "obama haters" thumbing us down and not saying shit? i guess they dont exactly know what is so good about mccain. GO OBAMA! ((MCCANT OBAMA CAN))<--SPREAD THAT AROUND
our economy is bad enough and mccain wants to keep da war going-obama is pulling da troops out to help and change this country-mccain is keeping da troops in ther which is da same thing dat bush did and he screwed up this country! u all say wat wil obama do 4 da better we told u but wat is mccain going to do? nothing keeping our economy da same and all other countries hate us already so keepin da troops ther is just pissin them off some more! mccain sucks his dads dick and licks his own tampon
The whole world needs Obama!!No more half Americans voting for a rebublican,if they will do it again,no more hypocrite tears for U.S soldiers dead or wounded, they are volunteers, still today, tomorrow they will be only dirty killers for money.
skeptical2006, Oh I envy you! I live only a 12 minute drive away from where this HISTORIC Rally was held. I used to work in the KOIN tower. My twins would not have been able to handle it. My nephew lives in a condo in the area and told me the lines were already starting before dawn that day! I still wished I could have gone...but it feels great to know that I with MANY others in Oregon voted for Obama in this Primary. Oregon hasn't been this excited and hopeful since 1968... it's long overdue!
We must continue our fight for the white house and continue our fight to be heard everyone accuses us of being a dreamer and crazy for daring to hope for change. That is what the founding Farthers of this great country were about and that is what we are about. They made it happen and so will we. So hold on be strong and don't give up on the Man who supports the real American dream! Peace to all the Obamanites for a real change in Washington and who takes the high road when dealing with adversity
Yea, in his speech he posses the eloquence and the strength of the people that has inspired him his Grandparents, parents, and the people around there is no doubt in my man that this man will make the proper changes to Washington that are needed but we the supporters must stand behind and let him know that we got his back. by showing up 20,000 strong and encouraging him. The Obama supporters have so much class that we even applauded Hillary on her race for the white house without being prodded.
HEY ALl WHO VIEWS THIS TAKE TIME AND REFLECT OUR BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY HAS CAME SO FAR. THE WHOLE WORLD THINKS WE ARE NOTHING BUT A BUNCH OF BACKWOOD REDNECKS WHO CAN'T GET PASS RACISM. EVEN THO WE HAVE OUR DIFFERENCES WE STILL CAN COME TOGETHER AROUND THE RIGHT CAUSE. WE CAN SET OUR DIFFERENCE DOWN TO LIFT OUR COUNTRY. EVEN IF HILLARY DON'T LEAVE TUE. LET'S ALL MAKE THAT A HUG SOMEBODY DIFFERENT DAY. JUNE 3RD. GO OBAMA/EDWARDS '08
Way to go OREGON this video is so inspiring even tho. We have differences we are Americans. GOD BLESS AMERICA AND GOD BLESS THE BARACK, MICHELLE AND THEIR CHILDREN!!!!!!
OBAMA 08! Look, they're all politicians so they're suspect from the go. But Obama is a fresh new face, a fresh new leader - who actually can speak in public without the whole country holding it's breath. (Is our Children learning? Don't misunderestimate me.) McCain: too old, too close to Bush, too Republican, still want's us to belive in victory in Iraq. Clinton: been there, done that, and she voted for Iraq.
We'll ship Obama to canada. We in America don't like half of our paychecks raided. Obama, with his deep rooted african blood, is a savage. He'll ravage our paychecks.
to TAXtheAtheist: You know what we reall do have a few insane people in this world such as you, and to set up here and have conversation with you will make me insane too! But if you keep holding on to that old Law back in the day, and keep tripping on the root's, you will soon get a big Tree, where those roots came from. It's time for your kind of thinking and attitude to CHANGE
Now this is the america that I love to see. Hispanics, asians, blacks whites, arabs, native indians, etc...It almost makes me wanna cry cause Im so home sick. I really do hope he wins. He's made politics seem so interesting and his ideas are so inspirational. Like I said before, I really do hope he wins because it might make people realize that we have alot more in common than we thaught. Obama 08...thanks for posting this video DRD
Thank you again, DesertRatDan, for making this video... I get a chill up my spine every time I see it. Excellent work! We cannot allow this window of opportunity to pass because amazing things CAN and DO happen, as we are all witnessing. OBAMA '08!
I have now voted for Barack 4 times, local Caucus, County Convention, County Convention Re-do(because they forgot to order ballot boxes) and State Convention all in Nevada!
Federaikkonerer, I'm not sure, but in my last post, there is a story called "SHIRTS FLYING FROM DUFFEL BAGS" excerpt:
"Daniel Rottenberg, campus coordinator for Students for Barack Obama, sported a yellow T-shirt with a large green "O" of the Oregon Ducks, with the word "BAMA" underneath it.
"A guy made some iron-ons," Rottenberg explained. From Ducks to democracy. Voila!
(google search for Oregon Ducks O Nike t shirt -or search on collegegear) Those are what they used in green or yellow
Not sure if anyone is interested but you can read MORE about Obama's visit to Oregon here on Oregon Live: blog(dot)oregonlive(dot)com/elections/obamavisit2008/
It has a bit about the Oregon Ducks O Obama T-shirt there as well.
I've lived here all my life, and haven't felt this much excitement & hope since Keiko(the Orca whale from Free Willy)
I really love the video DesertRatDan put together and shared here on Youtube.
It truly captures how many of us felt here on this historic day.
I was there that day and I will remember it for the rest of my life.
I was also lucky enough to see him in a town hall meeting in Albany, Oregon. Having been to two very different events, I can't say the energy can be matched with a crowd of 75k.
Can u believe in the possibility of hope? well believe that when he becomes president. He will be the greatest President in American history by healing the United States and the planet, plunging us into a new generation and a new era of peace and cooperation.
most of the people there were for the free concert they had right before obama spoke. the song they are playing is great. and obama os a great guy but ,his liberal views will destroy thhis country worse than bush, with mcain as the other choice... were screwed
Why must you be a pessimist? The world can change for the better or worse w/ both candidates...have some faith that America is just going through a change because the global climate is changing. And I'm not talking about global warming ;-)
If they were just there for the concert why didn't they leave when the concert was over? It appears to me that they WANTED to listen to Obama speak. Maybe if you just listened to him you'd understand that his message is one of inclusion, of helping each other, but also of personal responsibility and basically fiscal conservativism. Please open your mind and your heart.
We have had pleanty of promises in the pass, and since I have been voiting I have seen the same old thing happening except for a few Presidents. We are awear that Bush should have not been elected. We want a change, and some real help, We don't want no recount or change in the voting count. We want some real CHANGE
The Obama campaign has been using this song at most of his rallies. I guess I just assumed they had permission to use it. I'm certainly not using it for profit or anything like that. I'm a big U2 fan and I think Bono and Barack Obama share a lot of the same views, but that's just my humble opinion.
The best political event i've ever attended. Love to all in line with me~ It feels so wonderful to have a candidate I truly appreciate & respect. A promise of a better America is on the Obama Horizon :) finally.
WOW to this video. I feel so happy because seeing ALL these ppl.. 75,000, supporting Obama, being behind him really shows how bad the state of our nation is. I cried as I watched this video because these are people, maybe not all, but some who are having it bad, with high gas prices, the Iraq war, the economy. These people want change, want our nation back, we want things back to normal. Seeing these people's faces, I see how bad they want change, and want Mr. Obama to be President Barack Obama!
WOW! DAMN! GOSH! Sen Joe Biden (D Delaware) got it so right! He's so CLEAN AND ARTICULATE to be an african-american, see the crowd that had to come and see that themselves. What would be a reason that they want to make him a president? It is because they cannot use minorities as stepping stones as they used to? or because minorities are not victims anymore that need the elite Dems. to be our saviours because we didn't know better and we always needed masters to show us the way?...
It people let us that are tired of the same old thing, and then no results, we are tired of it. John is respecting what we have been trying to get out of for so long. We are looking for a change.
I can see people beating drums, hollering and high-fiving in the streets here in NYC if he wins. He's that unifying of a figure. He is the ointment for what has become a wounded country.
i am a 20 year old man and his speeches make me want to cry, i dont but if he doesnt win the presidency it may make me do it. (i am not a little bitch either)
this is amazing!! WOW wish I was there to be part of history in the making I'm proud of my fellow northwest neighbors. Much LOVE from Seattle Washington.:)
Hell Yeah!!! Portland is my home town! I would've loved to be there. Can't people see just how much of a contrast he is compared to what we're used to seeing? Nobody had to pay a thousand dollars to see him speak there. No one had to be of a certain income. It was free to all. And look how many people gathered to hear him speak. When was the last time we saw someone do this? Have we ever seen anyone do this? I pray that this beautiful country is ready for a President like Barack Obama. I am.
I voted today in Louisville for Barack, I moved from Des Moines Iowa 7yrs ago. As expected he didn't win Kentucky, but it was nice to see he gave his VICTORY speech tonight from my home town!!! Thank you desertratdan for posting these videos!!!!!! Thank you PORTLAND for turning out in such large numbers to support the next president of the United States Barack Obama!!!!!!!! Portland was my home also for 1 year, beautiful place, the state of Oregon. Smart people too!!!!!
hillary is ashemed of giving up because ... she can't accept the defeat from a mixt race, she should respect that she can't continue to compete with her son, his(obama) mom she is a white with a strong background ,so I don't understand why she thinks she can beat him while ,a strongholders group of whites powful are behind their nephew,it is time for hillary to stop this game of shame, she and he are americans so why she is keeping doing that, she is not satisfy with all those two termsofherhusban
If you found some words misspelled then you should help me out, instead of tripping on it. That's why were are in the same old mood, Let's make a change!
DCMEJ, totally OT there, but Music soothes the savage beast (like you) but for me, music offers memories and much more. THINK for once in your short life, just think... not only for your self, but for our country and the world.
I can't believe my beloved United States would have this no nothing militant anti semite Negro with a loud mouth wife so close to the Presidency. God Damn i HATE George W. Bush for letting our Nations standards sink to such low levels
Hell yes! This guy is going to be such an amazing president. I have been waiting to truly be inspired by a president like FDR or Kennedy and I think I finally found the guy to do it for me (and apparently 75,000 other people in the city of Portland alone)...
#1 we like a woman president!it's hillary we don't like!
#2 next time if you run(hillary) just tell us the truth about things!don't just say anything just because you want to win!
#3 and last point:even if you would have followed my previous points you still would have lost, because OBAMA was running against you!the skinny senator with a funny name is just bigger than life!
HILLARY LOOK A THIS CROUD! NAME ANYBODY IN HISTORY THAT RUNNED FOR PRESIDENT AND PACKED A CROUD OF 75,000!
I don't think there has ever been a more fitting campaign theme song for a more fitting candidate in any time in American history. This song really is amazing and so is Barack Obama!
Major Props to the people of Oregon that really showed up and allowed the world to see that America is ready for change. This is awesome vid and I wish I was there make Oregon the capital of this great country. God Bless Obama, God Bless America and God Bless Oregon! YES WE CAN
I just want to say that as a native Oregonian and Portlander, I have never been more proud to be associated with this wonderful state and city. Good job Oregon for standing up, for speaking out, for showing America who we are! OREGON FOR OBAMA!
I believe, I believe....Barack can make America what it once was ...Under Jimmy Carter, gas Rationing, 15% unemployment, 21 % interest rates and an terrible foreign policy!...Yes, he can make America "CARTER 2"
I believe,I believe....Barack can make America what it once was ...Under Jimmy Carter, gas Rationing, 15% unemployment, m21 % interest rates and an terrible foriegn policy!...Ye he can make America "CARTER 2"
How can ANYBODY blame poor Bush for the disaster in the American economy, the Iraq War, the Katrina aftermath which is STILL not fixed? Poor Bush wasn't even president then...
Oh, wait--he WAS president(so to speak ) for the past 8 years when all of it happened.
But, of course, YOU "Blame Bill"- who left the economy in the best shape it's been since the 1950's.
spook; A new prez., especially one of the opposite party, is going to blame all the ills, past, present, and future on his predecessor. The economy was in a slow down when Bush took office, the only thing Clinton did while in office, besides the interns, was the largest tax increase in history, after which the republicans took control of congress, cut spending, when Bush got in he cut taxes, which increased revenue, both parties are trying to out spend the other, ELECT A NEW GOVERNMENT ALSO.
Government, has need an Overhall for years, All we can do is Pray and ask God for someone like him to rule. I still have faith in Obama and know that he will do much better if the Government will let him, do his Job
Portland is a city and Obama is a man.

skeptical2006, Oh I envy you!

Malakayah 3 years ago 3
Yea, in his speech he posses the eloquence and the strength of the people that has inspired him his Grandparents, parents, and the people around there is no doubt in my man that this man will make the proper changes to Washington that are needed but we the supporters must stand behind and let him know that we got his back. by showing up 20,000 strong and encouraging him. The Obama supporters have so much class that we even applauded Hillary on her race for the white house without being prodded.
Malakayah 3 years ago 2
It was so cool to watch him speak tonight of during the SD & MT primaries while he was in Minnesota...
As he came into the crowd there with 20,000 people in MN, they PLAYED THIS VERY SAME SONG before he gave his eloquent and powerful speech.
I'm sure McLame is shakin' in his boots tonight! And if he missed it, I'll send him what I recorded tonight!

I want that green shirt from Nike with the big "O" on top then "bama" at the bottom. Where can get I that shirt?
federaikkonerer 3 years ago 2
CindyPDX 3 years ago 2

I knew Oregon was special. ;)

most of the people there were for the free concert they had right before obama spoke. the song they are playing is great. and obama os a great guy but ,his liberal views will destroy thhis country worse than bush, with mcain as the other choice... were screwed
stekelgar 3 years ago
Why must you be a pessimist? The world can change for the better or worse w/ both candidates...have some faith that America is just going through a change because the global climate is changing. And I'm not talking about global warming ;-)
dabblin 3 years ago 2
If they were just there for the concert why didn't they leave when the concert was over? It appears to me that they WANTED to listen to Obama speak. Maybe if you just listened to him you'd understand that his message is one of inclusion, of helping each other, but also of personal responsibility and basically fiscal conservativism. Please open your mind and your heart.

Hey, I'm not American and neither are U2. Period. But then it's your country. I just wonder if U2 would approve of using their song for this.
deliapisces 3 years ago
The Obama campaign has been using this song at most of his rallies. I guess I just assumed they had permission to use it. I'm certainly not using it for profit or anything like that. I'm a big U2 fan and I think Bono and Barack Obama share a lot of the same views, but that's just my humble opinion.

I am.

But, of course, YOU "Blame Bill"- who left the economy in the best shape it's been since the 1950's.
spookytom 3 years ago
spook; A new prez., especially one of the opposite party, is going to blame all the ills, past, present, and future on his predecessor.
