I dont know about US, but my suggestion is to get a decent car alarm system. By decent I dont mean that cheap shit that actually helps car thieves. Im talking about anti code-hopping, 2way remote, anti hijack, multi channel sensor, self powered siren, etc. My suggestion is Viper, and get a remote starter. I know it might be a bit pricy but at least you wont have headaches about someone stealing your car.

I ride a bike to work, sort of weird to get used to, but I have done it for 4 years now and have over 5k miles on my bicycle. HUGE money saver, also keeps me in shape, and my commute does not sponsor Saudi Arabia. Besides that I highly recommend two cars that I had before: Saturn LS1, and Subaru Impreza WRX, both very good, sort of opposite types of cars.

Civic is a p1mped out car and Prius is a green one. Why don't you go for a CR-Z and get the best of two worlds? Also the color changing display is pretty "spacial" itself! And the price range of the CR-Z is on the same tag as Civic, so really, just a matter of doing yourself and the planet both a huge favor ;-)

Mazda III all the way. It's such a powerful and fun car. Go into manual mode and accelerate to 60 mph really fast. How fast? I don't know, but it's such a joy leaving the car in the other lan in the dust so you can change lanes in from of them or merge in fron onto the highway. That's unbeleivable someone would do that. If only you could start a fund raiser for at least a dollar. You have thousands of subscribers who'd dive in for that.

Sorry about the car HD, You should look at the Mitsubushi Galant 2001 - 2003 models. I had one and it was a great car, good strong engines, its a little average on Gas about 25MPG average, but I loved it when I had and you can great deals on them sometimes. For around $4,000, you can find one with under 80,000 miles on it if you look around. you should check it out.
