Some arm chair experts commenting here Len, geez where are these famous racing drivers so I can soak up some great knowledge from them. Pity about the car, lot of hard work to get her going again. Good to see you have it back on track.
As far as going in you should be on the throttle as it would only understter in like it has done and being a turbo car I would had my left foot on the brake pedal and my right a fair way onto the throttle
I wasn't trying to sound harsh and I know he would have been disorientated but the car should have been left against the barriers unless it was to be driven to the finish which it obviously wasn't as reversing up and leaving it in the middle only creates more drama by dumping fluids on the middle of the track. If there was ever a next time the car should be left on the barrier until you survey the damage and then decide from there what you are going to do.
Bloody hell, he just a crash and was most likely freaked out..... I hope all those with lots to say can conduct themselves perfectly in all circumstances......
Len you should have not backed the car up and left it against the barriers to minimise the amount of shit on the line and track itself. the other thing is I'm at a bit of a loss to work why you went it as you were off the throttle far to early going in and probably should have been at least two meters to the left there with your left foot on the brake ready to lauch out of hte right hander
After a hit like that, and having seen a photo of the aftermath (I didn't watch the whole vid), believe me that thing was going nowhere under it's own steam. I've had a lot softer prangs and breakages on-track that have left me with a non-moving car before.
Len did the right thing there, yeah on gravel you should move the car, if possible, as water and all that isn't a huge problem. On tar, it's a huge no-no, especially on a fast track with a decent drop-off like this.
the hit was on the other side of the track to the racing line - and there's no way off the track there unless you can hop over the concrete barriers directly into the scrub. If he'd driven out to the next corner (at the next corner there is a spot for the FiV) then it would have left crud all over the track.

Some harsh comment here, just hope the Mr Perfects don't find themselves in a similar situation trying to think clearly.
A sorry sight Len, thanks for having the guts to put the video up as a lesson that others may benefit from. See you soon in a 'rebirth' I hope.

driving 10/10 there, don't see that often with a owner driver.
must say nice driving up until the crash.

if it still starts & goes keep driving the thing , just get it off the track to let other competitors have their turn ,

and scuff up the road, drop oil, coolant and brakefluid everywhere...
then ruin the day for everyone with concrete dust and fluids all over the racign line
i'm glad i dont share a track with YOU!
