In this version all that happens is the predefined dots in each section light up when dialing. On the real version of the show it starts with a specific pattern wherever the lighted section starts, then that pattern moves across each section until it stops at its Chevron. So sorry but this isn't a very accurate dialing.

@agentm31 Two explanations: 1. MAGIC, and don't argue! 2. The series Finale of Stargate Atlantis mentions that the Pegasus pattern Stargate is a newer design than the Orion or M87 patterns. Basically the difference is the same as a digital clock compared to an analog one.
