  • Steve Jordan drives the excitement UP here and helps push all 3 of the six stringers a little further. Compare and contrast to any of the Crossroads with Gadd on the throne. Not saying he's a bad drummer. Just dig the excitement Jordan brings everywhere.

  • good guitar in Eric and friends.

  • Cocacola ?

  • the woman in the background got some swag XD

  • background is too noisy for me but guitar playing and energy is fantastic.

  • I love how derek just comes out screamin'!!

  • derek is the best man!

  • Awesome, Derek!! And Eric is really cookin'!!

  • Trucks is the master of the pause to accent his next move. Sometimes just a quarter note pause but enough to set up the next move.

  • my god.. masters

  • love that red SG!

  • isnt that steve jordan drumming?

  • @jingwah it looks like him yes i think

  • Hey all!! im Sean 14 years old!! i write songs i sing/drumer/pianist/guitarist Try to Chek out my Cover For this Cool Song!!! u Rocks Guys!!! S S S S S S S
  • DERECK TRUCKS YOU FUCKING OWN THE SHIT OUT OF THAT SOLO GOOD JOB BROTHER I HOPE YOU READ MY COMMENT JUST SO YOU CONTINUE TO UNDERSTAND HOW FUCKING DIVINE YOU ARE.

woah sorry, but seriously that was pretty swell work.

  • This is like the dream lineup here... right down to Steve Jordan on the drums!

  • no good no bad no evil nothing called sin if it sounds fine let the light in ...

  • the slide guitar is Dereck Trucks, the best slide guitar of the world

  • Hey, I have a question that maybe some fellow guitarists can help me out? Does Eric Clapton anchor his strumming hand when he plays guitar? Like, does he put his fingers on the pickguard when he plays? I hear it's a bad habit but hey, it looks like he's not too affected by it. But I'm a rookie so what do I know, lol.

Any help would be appreciated. :)

  • yeah, he probably does that, a lot of blues and rock players do, its not a bad habit at all. it gives you more controlled/precise picking

  • @C0NEZ0NE I believe he does. I anchor my right (picking) hand by placing my pinkie on the bottom of the bridge and, from I've seen, Clapton does this as well. It wasn't something I conscientiously tried to do; it's just the way I've always played. I've oftened wondered if this technique was limiting me, but if it's good enough for Clapton, it's good enough for me :-)

  • And the rhythm section COOKS !

  • Way better than I expected.

  • This is bad ass !

These cats are really inspired here. Passion and musical charisma abound.

  • does anyone have any PROFESSIONAL footage of this concert? i'd like to see it.

  • Saw the three of them in San Antonio....what a show....can you ask for better musicians? I don't think so....Clapton still has it goin' on, to be sure.

  • what a dream lineup.. Trucks, just amazing!

  • is that Jesse Jackson playing drums ?

  • ho snap, its steve jordan in the back there haha

  • 3 guitarrist 2 of them make the guitar cry and scream with an amaizing sound but ne f them is just singing with the guitar

  • Clapton = God ..... no question about it

    Robert Johnson would be proud

  • true

  • best comment evar :D

    CLAPTON IS GOD

  • Derek Trucks = Flawless....im sorry, Bramhall is good....but Trucks owns the show on this one

  • Ya, he has it from his entrance. I always love that neck-pickup launch with the slide.

    Just classic wailin!

  • Yea you dont usually see him come out like that he usually builds up to that but I love it it was like whoaaa

  • @ziegenemeyer And mayer is gay lol

  • @HEBIGAT mayer can hang with all of these guys my friend... do ur research. he may be a tabloid bitch but the kid can play.

  • @ziegenemeyer well put!!!

  • i actually got to meet derek and he let

    me play his guitar

  • some how I seriously doubt that.

  • then you dont know anything bout derek, he is a really nice guy, he actually cares about his fans and sometimes let them play his guitar...unlike the hollywood brats he is actually gratefull that we buy his records and buy tickets!

  • Derek Trucks' CDs don't do him justice - see him live. Deep music. Clapton is of the age to mentor other players; he is not afraid of a challenge, so these are musicians he recognises as inventive, brave and able to hear their own music and that of others. This is the sort of guidance Fletcher Henderson gave sax players like Coleman Hawkins and Ben Webster, not to mention how Mayall schooled Clapton.

  • clapton is by far the best!!

  • I think Derek probably goes to gigs, small and huge, with that one guitar, a cable, his slide, and plugs in just shines.

  • clapton is good, but not as good the others....he sounds good, but i love the way that Doyle and Trucks digg in!!! So much more soul and feel..

  • this is a hot version...except for the bramhall portion. trucks is god

  • are you crazy ? Bramhall is awesome!!

  • Great! I am 8 years old and want to be a blues player when I grow up. I f you get time please check out my songs and comment on them. Jacob

  • how he manages to play with the strings upside down is beyond me, i think otis rush did the same

  • so did hendrix and albert king

  • Hendrix only played with the guitar upside down not the strings.

  • He did, but he could also pick up a normally strung right handed and play it.

  • WOW! That is genius......plays upside down right handed and normal right handed too even though he's a left handed guitarist......?!?!?

  • Hendrix did a few times, but not most..

  • Hendrix played a right handed strat with the string strung upside down which makes it right side up 4 him......Albert King you are right he played them backward

  • i wasn't really a fan of Doyle Brahmall II when i saw the show. the rest was fantastic.

  • everytime i watch a lefty play i get sick lol

  • they didn't come close to clapton of course.

  • you are kidding me dude. you must hold your ears when you listen to derek trucks. Clapton may have had more influence on music, but he'll NEVER touch the spiritual communication of Trucks.

  • that sounds like major grass effect if you know what i mean!

  • omg trucks is so sweet i wish i could play my guitar like that im no ware neer that good a slide guitaer

  • Derek your taking names you FL cracker!!

  • Anyone got a torrent to download this whole concert?

  • derek trucks solo is all about what´s good in a guitar solo, make that woman wail an cry derek.

  • 3 of the best guitarists alive playin together...i wish i was there

  • Comment removed

  • trucks solo was GOOD

  • No man. It was FREAGGIN AWESOME!

  • maybe from playing wit derek clapton will b inspired to go back to gibson... haha that will b the day

  • It would! Oh Lord, please make it happen!!!

  • i wonna see this whole song!!!! it would b so cool, imagine if Duane and Clapton had dont this song...

  • Luv the way Doyle gets so into his wonderful solo! His tone and timing is incredible! The relaxed concentration on his face...that excellent dancer moving to the rythm in the backround...can it get any better than that?!

    THANX tubemule!

  • bramhall did ok the arch angels are the shit though thats for sure, claptin is getting old but he still some of it, derek was just phenomenal beautifull performance the level of feeling he played was really awesome shit to watch

  • yea, derek slays faces

  • that woulda been sweet if Clapton n Duane Allman had done a version of this song... ugh man that would b sweet...

  • wow i love to see the whole thing...

  • Apparently showing emotion while playing guitar is frowned upon now?

  • i know it's mental!! all these pop-rock crap bands made it bad to be emotional. brian may did it, as did david gilmour and now people such as john mayer and matt ebllamy (of muse) do it and they're criticised for it... not good

  • Who cares what those stupid homos think. They're brainless idiots who look up to semi-illiterate celebrities like Britney Spears or Paris Hilton. They can all go to hell.

  • its Popeye the sailor

  • his name is Doyle Bramhall II. hes one of the best and most repected guitar players around. listen to his music, trust me. he aint up there for shits and giggles. and what the hell is up with people not doing any research before they post these comments....

  • yeah no kidding, it's enfuriating. How can you not just have so much respect for Clapton to share the stage with two monsters like that. It's so awesome that he is giving them the opportunity to make music with him. I'm sure it keeps him motivated and pushes him nightly. Not all rock stars would put themselves in a position like that--think about a Tom Petty concert. That's why Clapton is truly a musical genius and it's great he keeps giving back to the craft.

  • i'd hardly call him one of the best, in terms of actually playing improvised solos and playing them quickly and not just the same thing everytime, he's relatively poor. i've seen him live with clapton and it was just the same as here and everywhere else. and as far as being respected... well... i probably wouldnt even go that far.

  • Derek Trucks is amazing

  • its doyal you fool, then again i guess ya dont know who that is

  • Oh this is lovely The Canadian/American dialogue. They hate us they buy our gas and groceries and act like they're in Tijuana.

Fuck Canadians, they drive like idiots and have no notion of Right Of Way they can't even speak the QUEEN'S ENGLISH anyway- and I mean ANY way.Who needs 'em?

  • skynyrds version is best.

  • Derek can't be touched by either of these guys!

  • get the wax out of your ears, Clapton killed it,

  • I guess thats just YOUR opinion. I didn't write that, my boyfriend did and he is an amazing guitar player. By the way, I just de-waxed my ears this morning lol

  • dude, get some respect for black people, they are human, and hey, im white and i respect them. so if you want to bitch about black people, than get the fuck out.

  • m!gger

  • What you just wrote is racist against americans! Whats wrong with you people. I live in the US and I abhore McDonalds.

  • It takes a Canuck to be that big a peckerwood.

Canucks hate Americans as bad as any racist.

  • thats not true

    we hate MOST americans

    not all

  • Well it sure sounds MOSTLY TRUE.

How about if I hate MOST Canadians then,

just the stupid biased racist ones like you?

Canada ....home of mad cow disease and thalidomide birth defects.

  • are you stupid? It's just a little rivalry. I've been on both sides. Besides, "American" isn't a race.

  • The hatred and prejudice takes the same form.

You hate people you don't even know.

  • Canadians don't hate Americans, they hate America. A lot of Americans hate America at that!

  • That is totally senseless nonsense.

If so many American hate America they should just immigrate to the great frozen north where they can set on their butts and live on the dole like so many Canucks do.

Why would anyone hate the Canadian wilderness?

It is the "holier than thou Canadians" that are so detested.....

BTW why are you watching Bramhall and Trucks if you don't like America.....

Don't you have your own guitar players?

Can't they make a living up there ...you can have Neil Young back.

  • sorry, it's hard to follow you, so ya.

And i quote, "Canadians don't hate Americans, they hate America." I believe those are American guitarist, not countries. uh gtg for now bye

  • America is Americans....

Otherwise it is just empty geography

  • nah im talkin about how the country works as a whole

  • i believe what your talkin about the US government, its economy, its health care, etc. etc.

even though i do agree with u to a certain extent but its a better system than most nations. at least we dont get executed for listening to Eric Clapton like they do in Iran.

  • exactly.

  • well said lol

  • To be fair, music is music, politics is politics, they should not enter the realms of eachother, so shut the fuck up and make nice comments about how good the guitar is.

  • it's unbelievably good.

  • Thats more like it [=

  • You're an idiot, this song was written by an African, ever heard of Robert Johnson. I have no respect in people like you, you should be treated the way you treat other people.

  • I have heard Clapton in Budapest Laszlo Pap arena...Crossroads sounded like 4 jet planes flying over our heads. Sends shivers down your spine. Best song ever.

  • thanks for this Amazing see ya all in cork eire, june 08

  • Mr.Bramhall is Amazing , and just what Eric needs in his band , Looking forward to Cork Eire in June see you all there .OH YES != a Pint i/2/3/4/5 + Guiness + ..great place + in june .................

  • eh im not such a big fan of bramhall, I get the feel he's trying to be albert king

  • is derek playing with a slide? and doyle has his strings like dick dale i think. upside down

  • derek almost always uses a slide

  • doyle's strings are upside down....thats crazy

  • akalabah,Doyles probably learned on a right handed guitar. He's left handed and to make the transition is probably to complicated.

  • ya. but he didn't restring them like hendrix, he really plays upside down. nuts

  • It just isn't rignt unless they have 18 inch long hair hanging down over their guitar strings.

  • i sure hope that eric releases a full length dvd with this line up,it's the best guitar partnership his ever put together, doyle and derek are awesome guitarists and eric seems to be playing with real fire these days

  • Witajcie ludzie!

  • i seen john mayall and the blues breakers, how you likin that boys

  • who's that guy with red gibson? i saw him with allman brothers band as well. what is his name?

  • derek trucks

  • thanks a lot!! ;)

  • thats alright... i went to see eric clapton live in sydney and derek is one of the best guitarists ive ever heard

  • were you there on the 29th of january? i was there, best 2 hours of my life far none. derek is truley awesome, but clapton is still the boss.

  • yeh thats wen i was there it was awesome

    .. i agree

  • wow circle jerk

  • i've never seen any guitarist elicit such tone on his guitar more than derek trucks. unbelievable- and props to doyle to by the way, too.

  • One of my favorite jam songs ever. If any one cares, you can check out my bands version at the latest show we did, Vistas Festival of Arts

  • Saw this band three times (Raliegh, Jacksonville and Auburn Hills) and they were great. Just awesome. The best band Eric has had in years. Eric, release a DVD of this tour. I have to have a version of Got to get better in a little while!

  • better than one more car, one more rider?

  • Here are 3 of the greatest guitar players alive on the same stage!!!

  • Awesome!!

  • is it just me or does it look like doyle's high e string is at the position where the low e string should be? meaning that his whole guitar i strung like right handed guitar?

idk it definitely looks like it though

  • That's right. He strings his guitars inversely. That's why he has to change guitars so often - he uses a lot of open strings so depending on the keys he often needs a different guitar.

  • Derek pwned that stage!

  • yeah derek trucks kicks ass

  • fuckin awesome! fuck haters! rakenrol!

  • To sistar101,Guitarslinger059 and roseautumn; the writing on Derek's Gibson SG are autographs of Hubert Sumlin(Howlin'Wolf's guitarist) and Bob Margolin(Muddy Waters' guitarist). He talked about it in his GuitarPlayer Magazine article a couple years ago.

  • Great video thanks for posting - one of the best moments seeing this played live last year- my favourite song ever!

  • bilmon420 clapton never ruined nothin...i swear i dont know where ppl come up with the uneducated comments bout things they know little of or nothin at all !!!

  • obviously you didn't read my other comments, i'll tell you were i came up with that "uneducated comment", from the jackass that said doyle and derek ruined this song.

  • there were plenty of blues lovers in the 60's that said the same things about guys like clapton and mike bloomfield, "oh what does some white kid know about playin the blues" , but like you said if not for musicians like ec and peter green and so many others, blues music would have been unheard by many people. so why should it stop there, the idea behind improvisational music is to continue to break new ground. sorry if my earlier posts were too sarcastic and smart ass to be taken seriously.

  • you may have taken my comments too seriously, all the things i said about the "true" roots of the blues and clapton "ruining" crossroads or whatever was to make the point that the music is still growing and evolving so to just write off a whole new generation of young players as clueless, soulless hacks(i know there are plenty of young players like that) because they don't understand the blues or whatever is pretty ignorant.

  • I would imagine that if you have to be a slave to play the blues, then you'd have to also be a slave to appreciate it. The whole form would be an anachronism, and probably never heard or heard of. Is this what you want?

  • don't get me wrong i love clapton, he is a living legend and his contributions to music are undeniable, but lets put this in perspective, playing sped up howlin wolf and albert king licks with more overdrive doesnt make someone god or even a true bluesman. if these guys were really so god awful i guess that would mean eric doesn't know anything about music, quit talking so much shit and enjoy great musicians playing together

  • clapton "ruined" it 40 years ago, everyone not named robert johnson raped this song. how is it that popular music has become a joke and still no one can appreciate roots musicians who are playing for the right reasons, and it has to turn into a contest. the true roots of the blues is not simply gettin shitted on, everyone gets shitted on, its bein fuckin enslaved and workin forced hard labor all goddamn day, i don't think anyone on stage has dealt with that

  • How aware of blues would you be if Clapton hadn't ruined it 40 years ago? There's no reason why blues shouldn't have evolved, but I must say I do draw the line on the people that are adding hip-hop influence to it! Don't forget though, they didn't have electric guitars in Robert Johnson's day. If they had, he may have played one. I don't think B.B. King or Buddy Guy share your feelings on authenticity though...

  • um your simply a disgrace to yourself Mr. "420" haha we all get it, ....and this is coming from a person who knows exactly what your talking about and completely disagrees with you. Most people wouldn't know who Robert johnson was if it wasn't for blues revivalists like EC. So pls don't post if your simply going to pollute the minds of your fellow youtube using peers with that kind of mendacious filth.

  • i dont know what it is about this page but it seems whenever i watch this u guys are all talkin shit with the comments. enjoy this this vid.....3 great guitar players not mention a living legend. they are all great in there own right

  • Those young dudes rape good old crossroads bluessong with theirs awefull solos!

    Terrible!

Blues: its life style, u cant learn it to some note-books and just listenin' it!

U have to live and get all to shit against ur face and then u maybe understand lill'bit?

Eric Clapton is a king of guitarplayers!

  • Who is Bluesman?

    A: Eric Clapton

  • I saw Derek Trucks for the first time when he was 12 years old at Tobacco Road in Miami. He' only gotten better with age, wise beyond his years and the most humble cat you could ever meet. He's gonna' be around for a long time to come and I believe he will go down as a legend in his own lifetime! The writing on his

Gibson SG is two autographs, one is Hubert Sumlin.(not sure on the other)

  • I've never dug Doyal Bramhall, he's a bit of a pansy really.

  • Yeah that's he's up there with Derek and Eric and you ain't... lol

  • I could not have said it better myself. The only pansy here is Craigios!

  • I'm running outa here back to Li Jie!

  • You go Derek!! close the eyes as much as you want. I love your style. Must be a sign of greatness when a guitar players closes his eyes cause Stevie Ray Vaughn did the same thing. go watch Stevie Ray Vaughan on you tube.

  • Clapton has still got it. it doesn't matter what anyone says:)

  • Derek is just something else man! Something amazing just like Clapton and Duane Allman! Brilliant vid

  • Doyle Bramhall II, Derek Trucks and Eric Clapton...god dammit, cant get much better than that. can wait till i see derek in july...

  • where's the rest of it?

  • ERIC CLAPTON SUCKS!

JUST KIDDING, i think the guitar gods might kill me

  • I loved the way that during this tour, the two younger men would play a solo each, both concentrating hard on their fretboards, (both sounding excellent, don't get me wrong), Then Clapton would step forward, close his eyes and with an expression that almost says, "out of the way boys, I was doing this before you were born!", wipe the floor with both of them.

btw, I notice in some close up shots, Truck's guitar seems to have something written on it in marker pen, anyone know what it is?

  • watch closer on other videos of trucks, he closes his eyes almost the entire time he plays. he always has no facial expression with eyes closed

  • Thats because he said he wants to look like coltrane when plays

  • Yep, supposedly its something written from his wife, Susan Tedeschi (Not too sure on the spelling there) Also, I saw these guys in St. Louis and as much as I hate to say it Derek put Clapton to shame on his solos.
