  • how do you play notesd without a midi controller

  • @TheNoahtorious In Reaktor the qwerty keyboard can be set to a specified midi channel. I believe it defaults to channel 1, and if I'm correct, it should also be turned on by default when you first install Reaktor. Of course the downfall is that it's not the most musically intuitive setup and there's no response curve whatsoever, it's either an on or off message. But there are infinite uses for converting midi notes into controller change messages. Anyway, hope this helps!

  • shit is awesome man... like aphex twin... very cool :-)

  • Y O U A R E M A D !!!! This is so cool... I love it! lots of inspiration for my own work. thanks!!!

  • Have you posted this ens in the reaktor user library?!?! If so what is the name??!?

    Crazy stuff!!

  • @Musiccalculater Hey thanks for your interest. I unfortunately have not posted this on NI's user library yet. Mainly because it's severely glitchy at this point, as far as using this as a VST =) But in due time, once I manage to clean this beast up a bit, reduce CPU a bit, and improve controller interfacing, I'll make this and several other variations publicly available. Shoot me a pm with your email if you'd like to try this as it is. I'm all about collaborating \mm/ hit me up!

  • i can't even begin to fathom this...

  • Are the seqs assigned to midi only?

  • if you mean just midi notes, than no, not exclusively. They are also controlling control change parameters and triggers. But I guess it depends which sequencer you're referring to as well. There are about 13 or 14 sequencers in this ensemble :D

  • finally some inventive use of the reaktor modules. this kind of videos restores some of the faith i lost in software.

  • thank you very much. This kind of comment restores some of the faith I lost in my own craftsmanship ;) I'm not much of a programmer or reaktor master by any means. I have so much to learn about the functions of just the basic array of components, but I know enough to keep it musical ;) and still very very random, I love spontaneity in music. This is far from a finished ensemble too ;) another video will be in the near future. I'm onto polyphonic notational quantization. coming soon ;)

  • p.s. check out the newer vid too ;) thx again

  • i already did and i liked it. my general grudge about software is the fact that 95% of it tries to emulate hardware and in my opinion fails to deliver. i rarely see someone trying to accomplish something on software that is not easily or even possible on hardware. these modules are "generating" music by itself all the time and with very small chances of repeating itself and even have the ability to sound enough musical to be listened to. very hard to be done on hardware and that is why i like it

  • I completely agree, emulating is unnecessary when the original instrument does what it does inevitably better than anything could ever emulate, after all, it is only an emulation. I've always felt that software based sound should be approached in a pioneering sense, to try and do the impossible not to emulate what's already been done. I'm glad to know that there are other people aside from myself that can appreciate the exact reason that I made this ensemble. Cheers to new approaches! :)

  • that is completely my opinion. but i completely understand the music software industry because their main target is making people change from their trusty old hardware to more convenient but not as good sounding software counterpart. experimenting never brought money, but that's what pioneers are for :)

  • @ticklesitter i also agree but that said i love the korg ms20 but im not about to shell out for a real one i just dont have the money but th emulator is pretty cheap

  • i really wanna at least attempt something like this from scratch. this is amazing. reminds me of the Go Plastic album from Squarepusher almost

  • thank you kindly. that's a really awesome compliment.

  • if you dug this, check out the new improved version. I posted it as a video response to this. thx again.

  • Which rotten sods have been downrating this!! This is awesome. 5* from me. This is exactly the colour of Reaktor's shiny halo. Reminds me of Lazyfish's Mewark Stoderaft... and I love the idea of generative compositions at the mo. Bravo Ticklesitter/Sickletitter/Suckletitter/Titsuckler :)

  • :) I'm deeply honored, thank you kindly fine sir! Can't wait to share with you the latest touches, I think you'll get a big thuddy gabba kick out of it :) I'll be posting a new vid soon, just getting a few last glitches out. (thank god for "slew") with more modules comes more processing :) as u know quite well i'm sure! thanks again Tim, u rock the skills!

  • I don't know what the fuck is going on but I like it. I swear I heard part of the Gremlins soundtrack at around 1:39.

  • I would be curious to hear the beat by itself for longer to truly see what you're doing with it.

  • Sure, i'll post another video soon with a much more linear straight detroit acid style module, which uses the same granulizing and delay modules. The majority of sound mangling is between the granulization and delay modules. Each units dry/wet signal is randomly changing based on a random sequence generator, so from time to time it is completely wet, and at times, it is completely dry. Also, the drums' are randomly changing samples, and sample offset (beginning of beat)

  • whta VSTi u use for glitch the beat?

  • guess my previous response didn't post. well, there is no vst causing the glitching. It is a combination of the delay module and the "El Destrukto", created by CList. It uses a realtime audio buffer to convert live input into digital audio, then based on the random sequencer, it will granulize the signal, the grainsize is varying constantly, which results in alot of time stretching and blipping. the delay is also controlled by the sequencer. hope this helps, thx for being interested.
