  • For all ye frustrated Youtubers, go to adweek. com / adfreak/ freixenet-key-reserva-94006

Just get rid of the space. :)

  • It's not like they're losing millions of dollars because of these videos. The amount of money these conglomerates make and they're dicking around on the internet, taking sound off youtube video's...Jesus.

  • the key here is Warners they and they alone seem to be the only comp hogging the shows this way all the other corporations are much much more lenient

  • A crummy commercial? Son of a bitch!

Seriously, great ad. Quality work by a great director paying homage to a great director.

And jeers to YouTube for the copyright foolishness.

  • Damn copywrite..

    you can watch it at:

    scorsesefilmfreixenet . com / video _ eng . htm

    (no spaces ofc)

  • WOW

    AMAZING SCENE AT THE END

    FORWARD TO 7.45

IF U LOVE HITCHCOCK U WILL LOVE THIS SCENE

    INCREDIBLE

  • Fuck you youtube! Where's my AUDIO!!?!?!?!?!

  • Every single fucking video of this on youtube has the audio disabled! FUCK!

  • in english is not the true, its cruelly abusive,i think so

  • Is it me or is there no sound?

  • Remember when the internet had freedom of speech?

  • fuCk wmg.

  • Comment removed

  • oooooh, I'm pissed

  • Comment removed

  • This is Bullshit!

  • Goddammit!!!

  • You can google this and find it on their website.

  • WMG whining masterbating goofballs

  • Man... fuck youtube.

  • Brilliant ad, great fun. But what's up with the fucking censorship of the audio track, YouTube? That is some WEAK shit. Did Warner's actually ask for that to be censored? Or did you just prior-restraint that shit yourself?

  • More pastiche than homage. Amusing ending though.

  • anyone know of a hitchcock movie where a woman finds a magical neckolace and when she tells people to shut up everyone freezes and when she says start talking they go back to normal....anyone know the name of that ??????

  • Not a Hitchcock movie. I remember an episode of the 1980s "Twilight Zone" series on CBS that fits that description.

  • ahhh !! thanks dude ! you were right ! thanks for the help :)

  • No problem. As I recall, it was actually the first episode, although I could be remembering that wrongly. I think the series, at least some of it, might even have been released on DVD recently.

  • cool thanks for the info :) and happy new year

  • This is really great. I mean really, really great. And it looks like it cost an amazing amount of money to produce. SO, what I want to know is what was said or done to the marketing director at Freixenet to get him or her to say, yeah, we'll pay for that, we'll do that. I ask only because I try to convince my clients to have such enormous size balls.

  • And the handkerchief used had the initials R.O.T. for Roger Thornhill of North by Northwest. Nice touch.

  • A reminder for those as slow on the uptake as I was: There is no missing Hitchcock script. This is an elaborate commercial for Freixenet Reserva wine.

    It's still bloody brilliant, though.

  • In my opinion i strongly believe that Mr. Scorsese preserved Hitchcock's script and also enhanced it with his master vision. One more reason why i can't stop loving Scorsese's work.

Opening scene had Scorsese's vision written all over it, and than Marty just knew how Alfred would've seen the following scenes with Marty throwing his own touch into it. I LOVE IT!

  • it wasnt actually a script. it was just an advertisement. but it was well done.

  • I strongly believe that you knew exactly what i meant.

So don't criticize my comment, try to give your own opinion about the ''video''.

    thank you.

  • well ,its just you were wrong

  • hypocrite.

  • We knew exactly what you meant. That's why we're telling you that this whole thing is actually a commercial (which you apparently didn't get). There is no "lost" Hitchcock script, and this isn't a movie. It's an ad for wine.

  • Is the green at the beginning a reference to Vertigo by any chance?

  • Nevermind, I spoke too soon. ;)

  • Martin Scorsese is a master filmmaker.......

  • That was cool!!

That pan from the violin was fucking sweet.

  • That was unbelievable!!! Wow...

  • Reference to "The birds"

  • it's a reference to the end.

  • Yeah, that's a tricky one.

  • Scorsese was saying that he hopes that Hitchcock is watching over his shoulder and all the birds were outside which is a reference to...

    you got it. "The Birds"

  • maybe the thousand birds at the end. maybe?

  • you didn't get it.

  • oh i got it other people didn't though it was a reply to someone's comment that didn't get put next to theirs it was sarcasm

  • that was soo cool.

  • I saw references to North by Northwest,Rear Window, The Man Who Knew Too Much, Notorious, Saboteur, Rope, Saboteur, The Birds

  • References to no fewer than 12 Hitch movies, some subtle, others obvious, all class. Nicely done Marty.

  • OMG that was great fun!!!

  • How many of Hitch's films did people spot?

I saw Rear Window, Psycho and The Birds in there.

    Any others?

  • Most of it was from North by Northwest.

  • And the choking scene was from "Dial M for Murder"

  • MAN! Scorsese doing Hitchcock. That's incredible!

  • Mr. Scorsese is right! A Hitchcock poster is a work of art.

    Thanks:)!

  • Um. hello? This IS a commercial. It won a Clio award for advertising.

It IS supposed to have comedic moments; it IS tongue-in-cheek.

  • I love that moment where Scorsese panics at the interviewer wanting to touch the sacred Hitchcock pages. Felt like a bit from a Woody Allen movie.

  • He really does have a Woody Allen thing going, but a classic Woody Allen character, not the man himself, strange.

  • Take 80% of the filmmakers in the world now and ask him "Who do you think is the most influential filmmaker of all time?" - the answer is 'Alfred Hitchcock'. Thousands of people can make the 'alfred hitchcock style part' but what makes the film most interesting is that it was made by Scorsese and how he made a fool out of himself. As one of the greatest filmmakers ever, he is always there to entertain and surprise...:D

  • No. I think he is merely one of the biggest if not the biggest fan of Hitchcock. And to show his love to Hitchcocks talent in moviemaking, Scorsese made The Key To Reserva as he thinks he would have done it.

  • this was a wonderful hybrid of entertainment and advertising. kudos to all involved.

  • Hitchcock would be proud

  • ahahaha

  • The drink was the "Fountain of Youth."

  • This was great ! I loved it !

  • I have to admit I was a little disappointed to see it was a corporate advertisement. Still, can you imagine if even one out of a hundred television ads were this good?

  • It's a Freixenet Commercial, didn't you realize?

  • I guess they didn´t :)

  • You know what I though from the last shot?? If Hitchcock was still alive, with today's modern technology, his movies would have no limits.

  • 1:33 He calls it Key FROM Reserva instead of Key to Reserva.

Hitchcock Fans and cinema lovers realize how much time was spent studying to evoke Alfred's style. Scorsese is a genius.

  • I thought it was a poor attempt by Scorsese, but maybe it is because he wasn't in a real movie studio and it wasn't the best actors.

  • You totally missed the point. This is Hitchcock directing.

  • haha well maybe it was the same style, but nowhere close to hitchcocks artistry, thats all i am saying. I hope you dont think that scorsese can actually duplicate what Hitchcock did.

  • haha well maybe it was the same style, but nowhere close to hitchcocks artistry, thats all i am saying. I hope you dont think that scorsese can actually duplicate what Hitchcock did.

  • no. But I think Martin did a good job, although mostly relying on camera angels and the music.

  • Not bad. A good tribute to Hitchcock, pretty much exactly like Hitchcock would direct. I don't care much for the making of scenes though!

  • Reminds me of The Man Who Knew Too Much.

  • It does feel like an amalgam of Hitchcock motifs but that's not necessarily bad or anything. When he falls over the balcony's edge, it reminded me of Saboteur's finale at the Statue of Liberty. Also, the camera flash re-calls Jimmy Stewart in Rear Window's finale.

  • A novel bit of fun, hardly the genius or masterpiece is made out to be here though.

  • Kinda dodgy. Distilling Hitchcock motifs to sell wine.

    Uh-huh. Silly.

  • wOw sick ass, intro. True talent, love Scorsese, an inspiration for aspiring film makers like myself.

  • You would have thought that he could have cast more charismatic actors!!!

I loved R.O.T on the handkerchief,

    Yippee (-X

  • well... its amazing... have always love Scorsese and Hitchcock's work. Many homage or references to Hitchcock's work which i loved. The only thing... i just seen North By Northwest. The blonde in this short isnt quite as hot as those in Hitchcock.

  • Here's why you gotta love Scorsese:

The overhead shot when he unscrews the lightbulb with the handkerchief - you can see R.O.T. clearly in the frame.

A true Hitchcock fan needs no explanation, but R.O.T. is Roger O. Thornhill from North By Northwest.

  • I gotta love that you started your comment with "you gotta love Scorsese"

and of course i knew R.O.T.

  • Mr Scorsese is incredible..... the way that he can make his visions spring to life is definately quite admirable.

    xoxoxooxoxooxoxooxooxoxo

  • "Yeah, like make my own Hitchcock film!" I love this, really great stuff. Scorsese rules.

  • Who's that guy asking Scorsese the questions?

  • Simply perfect!

  • goddamnit scorsese is so awesome...

  • simply brilliant

  • Scorsese work is intense!

I especially enjoyed the ending how they zoom away and show "The Birds" brilliant!

    K:)

  • this is great! love the ending especially, i think he made a valiant effort to say the least

  • Absolutely Brilliant! Fantastic homage to the master of suspense.

  • Brilliant - I think i'll go listen to some of my Herrmann CDs now ;)

  • herrmann was great Check out Taxi Driver Tribute in my videos in my account. Imagine if travis bickle's reflection actually fights back!

  • I noticed at the end when the birds showed up Marty brought up the idea of shooting the lost footage from "Greed" as another project. Who else finds this intriguing.

  • i want to know, what's that about?

  • This iss fun little joke, done with flair and talent. How people could be ticked at this startles me.

  • Is not a joke, is an advertising. FREIXENET

  • i like the way scorsese looks in 2.40-2.50 "so, who will i shoot them as??" he is in deep identity crisis, lol. brilliant film. i love marty and hitchcock

  • I agree! I think that moment is less of a joke, like Scorsese is really considering "What if Hitchcock were alive today?" "How would he film it?"

  • man who knew too much meets dial M for murder meets rear window meets north by northwest meets Saboteur. Martin, tell me I'm wrong.

  • Ah, that was fun, but a little cartoonish in direction. Acting was bad.

  • HAHA, like you will do it better right...kids..

  • Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant!

  • That was just amazing

  • great viral

  • Look, it's a piss take/homage/Woody Allen impression/advert all-in-one. It's that simple.

  • amazing...

A coloured version of Hitcock's flair, genius.... I guess Hitcock would be proud of this. By the way, the short clip is hideous enuf already... How come the whole script is fuckin missing?

  • Most of the films that were replicated here were in color. Except Saboteur.

  • thanx man

people usually dont answer my doubts they find it irritating

    nyways thanx 4 answering

  • oh its related to that eh

    now thats answered

so is this a movie or an ad

  • So is this the real deal or is it just an extended Frexnet commercial? Either way it's great.

  • wow.. i am amazed by the genious Hitchcock and Martin Scorseses talent

  • genious.

  • Amazing!!!!

  • this is genious!

  • Very, very, clever.

  • lol I hope Scorcesse finishes his other next movie before he leaves that building or else we will never see it! ;)

  • Absolutly Amazing.

  • Surreal.

  • That was great!

  • also that long tracking shot of the short film is a reference to Psycho, and I believe the strangulation with the necktie is another reference to Frenzy.

  • Actually the strangulation here was done with the bow from the violin. You'll notice the snapping sound when Baker gets strangled.

  • yeah, for some reason i thought of frenzy/dial m for murder, although its probably not just one film, seeing as how the from-behind strangulation is very common among hitchock films. i havent seen man who knew too much, whats being referred to from that here?

  • the entire scene at the concert..especially when he falls of the balcony, that acutally happens in TMWKTM

  • mystygrams: apparently, the bow snapped and there was a string behind it which finished the job.

  • is this an advertise ment of a wine and wats with the crows in the ending

  • amazing

  • what an amzing ending...i noticed thelma schoonmaker was there too. Everything he touches becomes a masterpiece. I ADORE HIM.

  • Thanks Martin

  • me encanta este anuncio, que gran maestro Scorsese, parece totalmente rodado por Hitchcock este anuncio!!!renovar o morir y ya hacia falta cambiar y pasar de las burbujas!!!

  • Bless him. A special artist. Shame he had to use bits from existing Hitchcock/Herrman scores though, I found that distracting, and unecessary as otherwise he has successfully achieved that Hitchcockian feel without the referencing of existing works. I did feel my heart sink when you see the 'product', but of course, it's a commercial, and that's the nature of advertising: to sell stuff, and he's selling it beautifully. Now I'm gonna watch it again...

  • It's just viral marketing. Commercial.

  • lindo e breathtaking. mas leva a pensar na existência de outro pensador contemporâneo, fora Hitchcok e Scorsese. o nome dele é Juca Chaves, e uma vez disse: "pagando bem, que mal tem?" ou "paying well, what´s wrong about it?"

  • vaya cagada.

Y respeto al corto...realmente me encanta.

  • Scorsese is GOD!

  • that's an understatement

  • It's a commercial!

  • haha @ the zoom out of the window at the end, lovely touch and a great homage to the man himself!

  • Brilliant.

  • Brilliant.

  • Funny doc, and amazing Hitchcock impression!

  • awesome and who knew scorsese was so funny?

  • uuhhh, anyone who's a scorsese fan maybe? He's always had a good sense of humor. It's evident in any of his films.

  • Check out his preformance in Curb Your Enthusiasm, the Muse, and Quiz Show!

  • I am literally SPELLBOUND! Incredible piece of work.

  • Genial!

  • wow, it really FEELS like Hitchcock!

  • Great !!!!

  • That was fucking incredible. 5 stars.

  • That was AMAZING! Marty is (in my opinion) the greatest director of all time. This was such a awesome find!

  • Nice commercial, Freixenet must have spent a huge buck to make this.
