  • I love the piano at the end of this song, so beautiful.

  • i always got chills when i'd hear the melody slow for the preview of the next episode especially the final piano note to finish it when the narrator'd say "can you believe it?"

  • This song is really good after listening a lots, at first the song feel like 'I'm normal! You all just insane! But near the end of the song, it give you a hint that 'It's not the world, it's only you who gone mad.' And it prove to be true in Tsumihoroboshi-hen when Keiichi remembered his action in Onikakushi-hen. While the lyric is a bit off, it convey the feeling very well.

  • The anime is really good but the story is a bit hard to understand. I knew it from the moment the main character died and the story started again :/

  • @ShuyaTheDark Watch Kai. That all i have to say.

  • Having this song at the end of an anime that gets so violent and scary, is really just the icing on the cake.

  • @YusefRhymer I agree with you, Higurashi got an real dark theme as opening and a sad ending song. This Anime is amazing, bad thing they censored most of the violence on the anime, because the manga is the hardcore version of the series.

  • @Leon4788 o really, then the manga must be pretty hardcore

  • Good song but remix could have been better

  • This i actually my favourite opening of all time XD nothing can top this off (well thats ust my opinion) :3

  • @Mekia391

Me too! I love the melody at that part.

  • @SeaSaltSunsets

And it works with the speaking part well.

  • "I want to be river in life"?! WTF?!

  • OMG this is from episode 2 right?

  • my fave hiigurashi song!!!XD....this and dear you!!

  • lol engrish!

    .

  • at the end thats rika's voice,right? =D

  • subtitles are wrong :/ anyway, this is one of my favorite songs from higurashi - the fact that it amplifies the sorrow or mystery that the current episode left you off with.

higurashi = totally awesome anime. :3

  • Awersome *_*

  • esta seriie es recomendable , pero alomejor si bes esta seriie te entrara ganas de maqtar a alguiien a mi ma paso lo miiismo peo menos aml que no lo mateee!! XD

este anime trae muxa samgre y mistirio

  • 1:30 is the best.

    Brings back so many memories.

  • I like how you even see the song's title as "why, or why not" in the credits, but the sub lyrics still seem to think it's "why, or why NOW". :P

  • These. Lyrics. Are. A. Fail. :I

  • @xCeramic not seeing it.

  • @Momentum139 Really...? I think you should look at the real lyrics.

  • Real lyrics: To get my happiness, I had done everything. But had done nothing to be blamed and accused of. The sound of footsteps became louder and everyday, then I noticed the fact, there was no time. I was a believer in life, to be myself always, and been asking whether I will alive. Give me a reason why not to adopt in this way, or judge me to be guilty of so many incurable sins. Tell me why, or why not? Complaining way to much, maybe I overlooked something fatal for me.

  • i remember when i would stay up all night watching higurashi no naku koro ni.... the song brings back memories.... i need to do that again

  • I just figured out this song is in English!

  • The English translations for this video are just horrible.

  • This show is like a paper cut. The blood, fresh and red, invokes fear and paranoia of paper which moments ago was innocent and playful. But then the moment came when the paper carelessly neared your finger, and the finger was shaking as if it knew what was about to happen, and then the paper cuts half an inch but it feels deeper and then the burning question: Why, oh sheet of paper, did you betray me? And then you clean the cut and bandage it, but it still hurts and feels sore underneath.

  • @Momentum139 dude...thats deep

  • REAL LYRICS: To get my happiness I had done everything, but had done nothing to be blamed and accused of. The sound of footsteps became louder every day, Then I noticed the fact there was no time. I was a believer in life to be myself always, and was asking whether I would be alive. Give me a reason why not to adopt in this way, or judge me to be guilty of so many incurable sins. Tell me why, or why not. Complaining way too much, maybe I overlooked something fatal for me.
  • Maybe this will make Higurashi more ominous for some.

1: Each main character of every arc did "everything" to succeed. But could we, the audience, really "blame them" for going as far as they did?

2: Each episode the symptoms/hints get deeper, graver, worse, and more important - "louder".

3: After each arc, the characters realize more and more often that they are running out of time to solve the mystery.

4: "believe in life/asking whether I would be alive"... no clue on this one.

  • 5: Each character spends some time telling themselves "this is right" in the beginning, "why shouldn't they" act "this way?". Later on, the "sin factor" of these acts comes into perspective when the main characters remember what has happened before.

6: "Maybe I overlooked something fatal for me" - remember, this anime was based off of a video game, a mystery game where YOU are responsible for the character's fates. Maybe you overlooked something?

  • Am i the only one who cried during and ending of Kai

  • @organasation14 I highly doubt that! The ending to Kai was awesome :')

  • @Geass300 Yes,Yes it was,especially with Flying Rika into Akaska's arms

  • um.... HER ENGLISH SUCKS!

  • @melo5dy The lyrics are really off in this vid for what its worth.

  • still one of my favourite endings

  • The 'lyrics' in the video make me cry for humanity, or at least people too lazy to check lyrics websites.

  • @DustChan at 0:26, i was like "wtf you talking about. the next set of lyrics i'm like "oh well become still over reacting". then i saw "wanted to fly" and that just made me rofl. its a sad song but these are like the best misheard lyrics.... especialyl because some don't even make sense XD

  • @DustChan, don't be a melodramatic.

  • "I was a believer in life, to be myself always!"

  • in the end is fatal for me no let it so be

  • Any one know the name of the song that starts at 1:32 ?

  • @Yoruneko678 It's still "Why or Why Not".

  • the melody and piano totally reminds me of jigoku shoujo's first ending

  • the name of this song is "why or why not" and in the part the girls sings it this guy messed up the lyrics too

  • really this lyrics are really wrong

  • um do you know where i can find the full song of this?? please reply....

  • Pretty more pretty

  • The lyrics is suck. She say here "I found everything" but the true says: "I had done everything" And the Sound of footsteps BECAME louder every day -.-""

  • @Eulywood Yeah, I've seen so many different versions of the English lyrics and I can't even tell what's right anymore 0_0

  • @digataplusavatarfan I can :D Just listen the song 5 or more times and you will can too ^-^

  • The lyrics is suck. She say here "I found everything" but the true says: "I had done everything"

  • I wish she'd just sing the entire song in Japanese, in my opinion its a much better language for singing.

  • Non-retarded version: To get my happiness I have done everything, the head of nothing to be blamed and accused of. The sound of footsteps became louder every day. Then I noted the fact, there was no time. I was a believer in life, to be myself always. And was asking whether I would be alive Give me a reason, why not, to adapt in this way Or judge me to be guilty of so many incurable sins Tell me why, or why not, Complaining way to much Maybe I overlooked something fatal to me.
  • @gameguy1226 close :)

To get my happiness I had done everything. But had done nothing to be blamed and accused of. The sound of footsteps became louder every day, then I noticed the fact, there was no time. I was a believer in life, to be myself always and not to be asking whether I would be alive; give me a reason, why I loved who I left in dismay, who judged me to be guilty of so many incurable sins Tell me why, or why not, complaining way to much; maybe I overlooked something fatal to me.

  • esta horriblemente subtitulado xD

  • I LOVE the "can you believe it?"

  • the lyrics are wrong...look up the official lyrics everyone ! thumb this up for everyone to see !

  • @BenTennison16

How about you stop trying to get people to thumb up your comment just to feed your own ego?

Many other people have also commented about the wrong lyrics without asking to be thumbed up. Be more like them.

  • @Subartimaeus what ? "to feed my own ego?" im sorry sir but i couldnt care less about how many thumbs up i get. what the hell ? Its simply so that those who havent read the actual lyrics wont get confused by these ones. I was actually trying to be helpful and you completely misunderstood. And please --- trying to get xxxx number of thumbs up ? that would be truly sad. I have way to many things going on right now and this one is quite likely to be on the very bottom of my priorities ;)

  • @BenTennison16 Noticed my comment never posted. Gah.

I find it ironic that I'm the one who can't speak English in this situation. I made a mistake; so what? Atleast I can capitalise and use my punctuation properly. You wouldn't say shit like that to my face, so I suggest you don't do it online. And who's 'us'? Where are you from? USA, Canada? I'm from the UK, hi there. I speak English, as it's my language. Piss off. I never even stated I couldn't understand her, I was making fun of her dialect.

  • @Elssuh Japanese accents are cute and as a non native speaker myself, you must understand how hard it is for migrants to gain correct pronunciation and word-choice.

  • @tankdestructo So? She still speaks epic Engrish.

  • I love this song and this anime but the sub of the video are wrong...

  • Wow personally I love this Ending song, I mean after all those mindfucks and gore in nearly all the Higurashi episodes this is just a calming effect on me. Also EARGASM

  • Great Engrish

  • DEN AY NOTICED DA FWAKT

  • @Elssuh I'm from Argentina and I understand the lyrics to perfection, if I who speak Spanish, I can understand it without subtitles is through a good interpretation. what she would think about you singing in Japanese??? :D

  • @matute93 You commented on something I posted 2 months ago. :I

Also, I never said I couldn't understand her, I was mimicing the way she spoke English. You're foreign, which means you can probably understand the heavy accent, and I'm been having Japanese lessons for about a year now. So thanks, bye.

  • @Elssuh aside from being racist ... you cant even speak english . ( "I'm been having" ??? wtf ? it's I HAVE BEEN HAVING... And being foreign doesnt mean you can understand foreign accents. AT ALL. Its actually us the native speakers who SHOULD be able to understand everything. But obviously you're not so...yeh.

  • /watch?v=MEWr0Mm-NLg

  • this song is just amazing<3 and the anime is the most awesome ever<3 love it..

  • I just lovee the piano solo at the end

  • Beautiful...

  • Just love this song. Can anyone English song that has this kind of melody?

  • TRANSLATION/LYRICS: "To get my happiness I had done everything, But had done nothing to be blamed and accused of. • This song makes me nostalgic. I'm cry, when I listen this. T^T Sorry for my English XD

  • Even though I have started reading the visual novels and think their version (AKA the original) of the story is much better... but GODDAMMIT the Japanese voice actors were fucking perfect. Tears in my eyes and shivers through my body as soon as I've heard Rika's deep voice once more.

  • @vanishy0urself I agree, I've seen some game play and manga arcs (which is somewhat closer to the games) but the voices were PERFECTO.

  • Thumbs up if you think the best part of the song starts from 1:30

  • usually endings aren't as good as openings

but this ending is GREAT one :)

  • Yeah, the lyrics are way off XP

  • "I want to be a river in life..." lol

  • Who the FUCK translated this?!

  • @greenacidfusion nobody. it was like this

  • I do.... I do believe it.

  • Creepy anime

  • I have to say, after all the countless anime i have seen, this is my absolute favorite ending theme. It stirs a certain unnameable emotion in me... hard to explain :/

  • @Foxhound936

Same here, mate. Do you agree that it is sort of a sad emotion but more complicated than just sad?

  • wahahaha I love this anime so much x3!!

Still remember the first time I found the opening of this ,I thought hey let's watch this it looks fun :D!!! and then I was like OMG but couldn't stop watching, then I loved it soo much xD!!! Maybe it did screw my childhood a bit bacause i was only 10, but ohh well doesn't matter xD!!! I was always singing these songs without knowing what it meant...... Now I understand why my mom was worried xD!!!

  • @msdp @msdp

I was the same way from the time I was 8, into horror and the such as I watched horror movies since I was around 4 or so. I think I found Higurashi about 3 years back before it was so popular(was around 10 or so). Luckily my Ma didnt understand japanese(and still doesnt). I'm a total Rena I have her split personalities and all XD.

  • @XxWhenWordsFailxX yeah me too xD but if i think somethings cute i just snap! my friends always have to drag me away from it xD and yeah my mom's japanese and i even told her about that song with a happy smile, now i know why she was so shocked... Oh well too bad xP!!!

  • @msdp

Haha same here about the cute things haha I horribly obsessed with bunnies I chased one for about 3 blocks once. " Nyurrr bunny comes back I wants to huggg yuuu!"

    and wow haha (:

  • @XxWhenWordsFailxX Haha xD!!! wel if I see something cute I get really hyper and am like : OMG LOOK AT IT IT'S SOOO CUTE :D!!!!! I WANT TO BUY IT X3!!!!

*My friends* okay calm down,we're going =.=!!!! *Me* Nooooooo TT.TT!!!!!

  • @msdp I'm always really hyper I just more hyper xD *has ADHD xD*

  • @XxWhenWordsFailxX Whahahaha well I don't have that I think xD? Don't know never checked it but ohh well xD!!! Still sometimes I'm very peacefull and calm and then I get hyper and after that sometimes serious, my friends think that I'm not 100% but really who is xD?

  • Love this song. : ) I always remember how stunned I was at the end of the episodes (especially after the conclusion of an arc)...It's like "What...just happened? O_O *mindfucked*", and then this song would start playing. :3 So glad I took the recommendations and watched this, even though gore isn't really my thing. I'd definitely recommend this anime to anybody...if you watch it, you'll see that there's so much more to it than senseless gore.

tl;dr version- Great song, great anime.

  • @youkai256 That's what I thought when I first saw images of this show. I'd seen images and GIFs of Shion laughing maniacally after Rika stabs herself, and I thought this show was nothing more than demented. But after having enough curiosity to watch it, I realized it actually is a very interesting show.

  • @youkai256 the same here! <3

  • @youkai256 omg my thoughts exactly!! but I found this anime myself when i was in 4th grade and was like thats awesome but to scary so i waited till six grade and when I finally watched it iot was my fave and here I am...in HS...still loving it!!! XD

  • anyone know what the lil song is called starting at 1:29 ?

  • @Mawwrc Same song, that's just how it ends.

  • Dude.... the last part where Rika makes a speech.... made me jizz over my own face... masterwork?

  • oh god I`m gonna die because I laughed too much about those epic failed misheard lyrics :D:D:D:D

  • This song touched my sould <3

  • if only the song was in japanese... itwouldve been so much better

  • Mhh...lyrics r all wrong..

  • @siamthai21 Thats the beauty of engrish my friend. :3

  • @corbin1993 LAWL x3 misheard lyrics..sometimes they say something you never want translated..ah the beauty of languages >:3

  • I loved every different picture at the end of the ending (at the end of the preview) =)

  • they messed up on all the lyrics >:(

  • How are they all alive it makes no sense! O.o

  • This is like, one of the most beatiful songs I've ever heard!

    And the best anime ever!

  • this anime is soooooooo crazy omg... i love it lol

  • Really a sad show

  • =D I Love Song

  • i luv rikas voice

  • @siamthai21 Thats not Rika, thats Frederica Bernkastel.

  • @OperationLegacyShow -.- ok then i luv FREDERICA BERNKASTEL'S voice ^-^

  • the lyrics are wrong owo, just some words

  • Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that this songs lyrics completely match the plot and mystery of the series?? especially he line "The sounds of footsteps became louder everyday"..... like when rena and shion and satoshi hear footsteps offbeat to there own.......just sayin' ^^

  • It was "I was a believer" I watched the anime and it showed the lyrics

  • >i want to be river in life, tho be myself always...

    >myface.jpg

  • At :40, it sounds like "I noticed a fart"

  • @UchihaItachi1986 Lolz i didnt notice that till now. I started laughing when i went back and listened to that part.

  • @UchihaItachi1986 Thnx Alot Now All I Hear Is "I Noticed A Fart" D:

  • @UchihaItachi1986 You know what, next time just snicker instead of telling us, cuz now all I hear is "den I noticed a faahhhtt"

  • I love this song it is so relaxing and peaceful.

  • Noticed the fact...not want to fly...

  • i always love this song <3

  • Can you believe it?

  • whenever i would listen to the ending it always made me so sad..and i love the preview where (i think) rika talks, it sounds so creepy

  • Those days walking down a path with lights and those clouds of watching interesting Mmmmmmm..

  • the english killed it >.>

  • Wrong lyrics all the way.

  • I watched this ending for every episode because the blood sliding down while the song starting really gets me. I love it so much!

  • Lol stupid translators didn't even get the lyrics right!

  • This translation is shit.

    Cant even understand engrish

  • WTF ARE THESE LYRICS "I want to be river in my life" hahahaha

  • they're all wrong !! XD she says i want to believe in life XDDD

  • "To get my happiness I had done everything,

But had done nothing to be blamed and accused of.

The sound of footsteps became louder everyday,

Then I noticed the fact there was no time.

I was a believer in life, to be myself always,

And was asking whether I would be alive.

Give me a reason why not to adopt in this way,

Or judge me to be guilty of so many incurable sins.

Tell me why or why not? Complaining way too much,

Maybe I overlooked something fatal for me."

  • wow wrong lyrics o.0?

i noticed the fact there was no time, i was a believer in life to be myself always, i was asking whether i would be alive =.=

anyway, i like the way she pronounces it x3

thank goodness ni rei cleared everything up it was mind raping me Dx

  • Actually, when japanese people sing in english, they still use the accent from japanese language, they don't use the accent of english. It's easy to see that in most of the animes, because when the characters speak a word from another language (not english only), they speak with japanese pronounciation. A good example is the spanish names from Bleach. This sometimes can cause some difficulty to understand

  • engrish is rurs

  • these lyrics are fucked up. lolz

  • Talk about about Gratuitous English...

  • then i wanted to f*** but there was no time lol

  • no,no, engrish

  • on 0:40, i think its "then I noticed the fact"

  • shes speaking engrish

  • this wierd way of singing in english did she do it in purpose?
