Didn't know it was that easy to pull down. I decided to change to CFL bulbs which were shorter so I wanted to lower the canister socket. I actually went up into the attic to see was there a way to do it. Finally after failure I decided to youtube it. Now I can pull the trim off and unlock the nut to lower the socket. Thank you for sharing.
I can't change a spotlight bulb. There is not a recessed can that I can remove it. The bulb is closely surrounded by a 'ring' and cannot be pulled down through it. The ring is movable (moving upward to one side). I moved the ring again and again, but just pushed the bulb back inside! Any advice?

My problem was for a different type of recessed can, but it worked on the same principle. I used to think jokes about how many people it took to change a light bulb were stupid until I became the butt end of them. Thanks for helping me out.

@chinwoman
Send me a Picture of your can & I'll look @ it
But all recessed can trims should be removable by pulling or twisting. Sometimes its just tighter than we expect.
