  • I love Nnenna's charisma on stage..

  • It's Friday Eve. Here is Nnenna Freelon. Tommorow I have work at her house in down town Durham. Hope she wil be home would love to meet her.

  • Fantastic singing and fantastic arrangement by Mr. Mark Kibble. This should have won that year. But...oh well... Fantastic arrangement and performance by both. T6 does this in their road act with the baratone singing the lead and he does a great job too).

  • ahh she's amazing!!!!!!!! and so are they of course.

  • I knew the fellow with the red collar [mark Kibble] when he was a very young lad as his pop was the preacher in my church. and the singer, Ms Freelon is an old buddy as well...knew her quite well [not, in the biblical sense...for u smart azzes...].and I remember this performance ...and she should have won as I recall...

  • scooba -de -be -bop a- doop! Really???

  • what the hell is wrong with 7 people - that was magnificient!!!!!

  • I prefer the Andrew's sisters. This is clever but too embellished for me. Sorry.

  • Excellent arrangement and superb vocalists! Am I crazy or did she start off in an off-pitch or off-key way for the first few bars?

  • I have seen both acts in concert; but not together. This is amazing!

  • great!!

  • compare that to this year's grammys.... so sad.

  • What sucks is she still lost that year and she got a standing ovation- she was the best performance of the show.

  • Yessir! Just WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Daaaa-aaa-aaam ..!!!

  • wow

  • 1:15 Best part cause I love jazz! ^_^

  • Well, for me, the best part is 0:00-3:11, but that's just me:)

  • Yea I can agree your torn between all of them and that is what maeks it Jazzz

  • Awesome!

  • The next time they come out with a Grammy great moments collection if this isn't on it...it will mean that the producers had a mental lapse...so please forgive them...this is as good as it gets!

  • WOW take 6 man..they harmonies are jus lyk woah!!

  • This is great--it is interesting to think that Nat King Cole took a lot of heat for this song when the whole monkey/buzzard thing was widely regarded to some dirty slang for...well...you know. And now Take 6 sings it

  • Nina is doing a beautiful job singing the lead, but i can't help but listen to Take 6 singing the background. They are doing a beautiful job laying out the melody for Nina to sing over. Still, this performance is phenominal:)

  • Wow! They put the "zing" in "amazing"!!!!

  • tuve la oportunidad de verle este año en `pontevedra

    es fantasticaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • Timeless

  • Awesome who is neeana freelon?

  • unbelievable

  • That is awesome. Does anyone have that particular arrangement. I am trying to transcribe it, but it isn't easy!

  • I'm planning to transcribe it as well :-)

  • i saw neeenna tonight in fort worth. what a wonderful performance. Speechless!

  • if you had bad taste in music before listening to this...congrats you've been cured!

  • she is beautiful

  • SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GREAT...! What a perfect COMBO. chills shivers and ultimate joy.

  • my music choices grew up after hearing Neena 4 the first time.

  • Needless to say, Take 6 is the HIGHEST standard for acapella in existance.

  • TRUE ARTISTIC EXPRESSION! I am inspired.

  • Thanke YOU !!!!

  • Just saw her at the 50th anniversary of the Monterey Jazz Festival. 5 stars.

  • same... they have so much energy even on a 57 city tour haha

  • a wonderful rendition.. I love the harmony..very jazzy.. No one but TaKe 6..simply the best.. not bad Nnenna Freelon.. Alwayz loved her music..!!

  • My comment was to taddyd1. I can't imagine why someone who has had no contact with me whatsoever would take it upon themselves to attack me personally for describing an experience I had. It's people like this that make YouTube intolerable at times.

  • you haven't had a pleasant thing to say yet, CT. This is not your therapist couch, girl.

Nneena is a DIVINE performer who I have seen perform to perfection twice in person. Several people have mentioned hoe sweet she was to them. So...go sing Glad to Be Unhappy on your own dman site. This is for Nneena Fans-go whine your smac somewhere else.

  • What's it tonight, taddyd1 ? Drugs or alcohol? Or your favorite prostitute was out sick because of you?

  • She was allright, Take 6 was great as usual.

I would have preferred seeing someone like Angela Bofill sing with them.

  • Lame. She removed the SATB aspect, which completely sucks. This song isn't just a soprano song...

Maybe she should try to NOT steal every possible spotlight aspect of music.

  • She sings a perfect lead. Sorry SHE's the lead singer on this, not the usually boring but flawlessly rehearsed T5. Jazz is about improv and T5 are so rigid, unlike NF who can jam when not tied down to these corny glorified barbershop harmonies.

  • singlestrike : "Maybe she should try to NOT steal every possible spotlight aspect of music."

    Thank you. Well said.

  • Nnenna is simply the best.Singing with those guys and giving show,She really is

  • I was playing a gig one time and this woman came in and tried to shove me off the stage. I have never met a ruder person in my entire life. She was nasty to everyone "lower" than her, and then "bingo" turned on the charm to whoever was perceived as furthering her influence or reputation. It was a horrendous experience.

I thought that music was to be shared, not just used to feed one's ego. A common problem with attention-seeking people who want to be the ONLY one "of merit" on the stage!

  • Point being?

  • sdrobinson1986: I guess it was such a disappointment after reading so many great things about her, and finding that people who make great music or art can be obnoxious in "real life." Something I have never been able to reconcile or understand. But it sure turned me off to professional performing, since it seems to happen so much of the time. Just sad and disheartened, that's all. I probably shouldn't have posted anything at all.

  • OH....I just got what you were saying. That woman is Nnenna? If it was, I know very well what you are talking about.

  • sdrobinson1986 wrote: "If it was [Nnenna], I know very well what you are talking about."

Yes, it WAS Nnenna. You experienced the same thing? It wasn't just me?

I actually gave up performing around Durham because of that experience with her. I never wanted to go through that again.

  • every singer who has made it has a million similar stories, LENA HORNE wrote about how mean and tyrannical the magical ETHYL WATERS was to her, night after night.

  • What is your problem? I don't know you; find someone else to attack.

  • You need to start singing again and quit blamin Nneenna for your retirement. I didn't mean it as an attack, I meant it as don't put your career on hold cua some Diva got bitchy.

You are on all her sites with your tales of woe, SING instead and maybe you'll have the opportunity to be nice to a newcomer someday, instead of mean like she was to you.

Besides, do YOU really know (from one event) Nneeena to attack her everywhere?

  • taddyd1: I'm not a performer and I did not attack her "everywhere." Anyone who knows her personally in Durham, where I lived for many years, knows exactly what I am talking about. No need to defend her as you are doing. If you don't mean it as an attack, then you need to check how you are coming across. I'm not the only one stung by your arrows.

  • Boo hooo! you need to stop your evil, honey!

  • catherinetodd is a Nneena Freelon stalker who refuses help! Pray for the poor thing!

  • get over it Cathy, maybe Diva had a bad day.

Performing Arts is full of rejection. Pick yourself up and show her how good you gonna be!

  • i saw her up close and personal last week. she looks really youthful for a 54 year old

  • SHE'S 54?! Wow, she's hot.

  • seriously.

  • WHOA.

  • Wow! They don't need any kind of music. Amazing.

  • STUPENDO E' DIRE POCO !!! questa è musica!

  • GREAT!!!

  • She's something else. I'd love to see her in a vaulted bar after bottles and bottles.

  • my favorite grammys performance thanks for the upload

  • the best vocal group on earth!!!

  • those harmonies are too much. i analysed a few of their songs, and its like the arranger has the time of his life coz if you split the harmonies you and sing them individually it really sounds like nothing. these guys need each other. every part is very important. without the other its not that great believe me. all in all i respect these guys

  • but the overall effect is boring and hammy, not jazz. they have great lead singers though.

  • when was this

  • awesome!!!

  • Better Believe It!

    Can't mess with Take 6!

  • I remember that perfromance at the Grammys!!!
