@gio32595 What I learned and have experienced is when you hit black ice and start to slide do not and I mean do not hold down the brakes as this will make your sliding a lot worse then it has to be. Instead you need to "Pump" the brakes meaning slightly tap the brakes on and off as this will help slow the vehicle down during sliding. Also you might want to put some weight in the trunk. Snow tires helps but not very effective. Get like 5 bags of cement bags and place them in your trunk.

Most of them don't unless they have tons of studs, and then they still suck because black ice is so hard. In the conditions shown in this video people should have been creeping, probably no faster than 15 mph. Once you use your brakes in ice anything can and does happen - you won't win!

When I've directed traffic at accident scenes, busy special events with lots of pedestrians, in snow/ice, in fog, etc., I'm amazed how fast people will go when approaching congestion, my uniform and emergency lights flashing. I've even stood at a crosswalk with a florescent yellow vest over my uniformt and a 18" stop sign in my hand ..
