I like how different this one is from the rest. It has its' own style and shows that Incubus can evolve and have fun with songs. And yes they say a lot more when you take apart the words and the way they're used. They are one of the best evolved bands out there. In MY eyes, they ARE the best ones... Pretty much all I listen to besides Muse, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Smashing Pumpkins, and some of the other bands from earlier like Aerosmith, Rolling Stones, etc. Great styles that they made their own

when people compare theiur older work they dont usually mean the Make Yourself Era. Its usually way farther back like pre-Fungus, Fungus an S.C.I.E.N.C.E. Incubus is often critized for selling out, which in case you dont know is changing ones beliefs and ways for more popularity or monetary gain. Which is exactly what they did. To suddenly go from like Shaft to like Stellar is, i dont even know, but theyve given up their old incubus ways to get famous.

Primus has been around for longer than Incubus and were actually their primary inspiration. Primus has managed to keep their same sounds throughout the years. Sure their not as famous as Incubus but they didnt change their ways and they still have a large dedicated fan base. As much as I love this song, I can't help but notice how different it sounds compared to "Dig", "Drive", and so on. Not only have their style of music has changed, but their lyrics as well. Songs from some of their previous albums sounded more, I guess, deep and down to earth. "Martini" just sounds... generic (i can't pinpoint the word I'm looking for). I love the new songs they've made, but they're definitely nowhere as good as the older ones.

Fuck was lost when Dirk Lance left. Sorry, but I've never seen Ben Kenney slap...he's primarily a guitarist and singer, not a bassist, at least from the knowledge I have. Either stick to old Incubus, deal with the new stuff, or write your own funk music...I think those are your options. Personally I'm doing the second 2.
Actually Ben Kenney was primarily a drummer till he switched over to guitar and bass. He can slap and hes dont it a few times while playing Redefine and A certain shade of green. Look it up.
I'm happy that their music has changed. It's shown how much they have developed as a band and it shows that they can do other styles instead of what they did with SCIENCE. I can listen to all of their stuff all day and I prefer their newer music rather than the older stuff it's so much more technical and unique.

That is what the lyrics are for the last two parts of the chorus starting at 3:33. Whether he says crowded or climbing before that point is questionable.
He clearly says if - both interpretations are acceptable in context. I'll use a slow down program to discern whether he enunciates a wheh, or an oph.
Also, I noticed that the third climbing sounds deliberately like crowding or crawling.
I've been working hard to be able to play and sing this song, so the exact details are pretty important to me. Mike's part in the verses are fucking difficult - given I'd have to sing Brandon's part on top of it. I'm determined dammit.
This is such a different sound for them. I remember them saying that they had some songs for Light Grenades that they felt where not Incubus style and this is definitely one of them. Even Dig was more "hip-hop" before they altered it. It's a good listen though, and I love the chorus! Can't wait for 6.16.09!

Actually Ben Kenney was primarily a drummer till he switched over to guitar and bass. He can slap and hes dont it a few times while playing Redefine and A certain shade of green. Look it up.

I'm happy that their music has changed. It's shown how much they have developed as a band and it shows that they can do other styles instead of what they did with SCIENCE. I can listen to all of their stuff all day and I prefer their newer music rather than the older stuff it's so much more technical and unique.

yeah i feel the same way but you have to understand they had to change in order to survive as a band.. This isnt like back in the 80's when poeple appreciated unique and different music, not just what was mainstream. Bands liek Mr Bungle and Infectious Grooves didnt change and never really made it. These days people only like crappy old boy band bullshit music. Just be glad they dont sound like fall out boy.

G open chord to G open 7th to D diad to C# diad. Verse starts with Bm at 7th fret, then to Em at 7th which enters a picking pattern with a shift to C7. The bridge is easy, but can't explain well here.

I think that one lyric is "Why are you crying? You are for nothing at all" but I don't know. "Are for" and "offer" can sound the same...

It sounds like crowded, but climbing makes more sense, and Brandon is known to sing words ambiguously, so that part is up for debate.

That is what the lyrics are for the last two parts of the chorus starting at 3:33. Whether he says crowded or climbing before that point is questionable.

He clearly says if - both interpretations are acceptable in context. I'll use a slow down program to discern whether he enunciates a wheh, or an oph.
Also, I noticed that the third climbing sounds deliberately like crowding or crawling.
I've been working hard to be able to play and sing this song, so the exact details are pretty important to me. Mike's part in the verses are fucking difficult - given I'd have to sing Brandon's part on top of it. I'm determined dammit.

This is such a different sound for them. I remember them saying that they had some songs for Light Grenades that they felt where not Incubus style and this is definitely one of them. Even Dig was more "hip-hop" before they altered it. It's a good listen though, and I love the chorus! Can't wait for 6.16.09!

agreed. different but in a great way tho. They needed to experiment a bit more. All the songs were starting to sound quite similar. Not sure if you meant it as a good thing, but I agree it's certainly different.
