  • @Pandaprops Wow I actually thought you were mining this to the original guitar track!! The sound is spot on and amazing!! Fantastic work mate

  • ultimate props: my sister just walked by asking if i'm listening to a b-side remix

  • quality stuff.

  • Sounds bang on!!

  • Hey mate absolutely amazing sound. I'm a big Stone Roses fan myself and also have a boss gt6 what effects do you use on the petal to nail Squires sound like that? Amazing job just class

  • @bigred67385

I use the guv DS in overdrive/distortion section then press the 'type variation' button and try american Ds or guv Ds i can't remember which one of these i used, should give a low harmonic on the open strings when plucking the riff

  • @bigred67385 he really did nail the effect - but don't forget he's using the same guitar John Squire played - you wouldn't get this exact sound unless you were using a Gretsch Country Gentleman... dunno about you but i dont have £2k+ to spend on a new guitar atm....

  • Wow, sounds exactly like the record.

  • the exact sound of john squire!

  • note for note as far as my ears can hear! excellent man

  • pensé que la tocabas sin pedal, de todos modos buenaaaaa

  • AWESOME, THE BEST COVER

  • YES!!!

  • love it

  • great job...amazing guitar tone

  • Thats excellent - have you got the tab for this ? Please ?

  • F-ing BRILLIANT

  • Can't believe it - fantastic! (Like all your other Stone Roses covers!)

  • shit.. thats dead on..

  • Surely that must be the mighty John Squire himself!? Jesus Christ man your awesome.

  • Love it mate.....Excellent.

  • Sweet - and what a beautiful guitar. Thank you sir.

  • Top drawer, keep these coming please. I am the Resurrection??

  • Is that the chet atkins gentelman country club? (i think that's the name lol) The same model squire uses? Great cover btw!

  • excellent mate!! what pedals do you use to get your guitar to sound like that?

  • @pissinhell

    I use a Boss gt6

  • @pissinhell , thts just the class sound of the country gent

  • excelent !! same as their performance

  • this is amazing!

  • @srwt1234

  • wow thts awsome mate nice sound too sounds just like the real song.. only thing i will say its got a little to much reverb on there apart from that excellent....

  • still waiting for sugar spun sister!!

  • awesome playing and thats an awesome guitar. did john squrie use grestch becuase harrison uesed it

  • John used a country gentleman, which is the one your seeing in the video. He was a big fan of Harrison so might have been that.

  • plz do a tutorial of dis

  • SUGAR SPUN SISTER PLEASE!! X

  • It's coming don't worry!

  • That literally sounds like you lifted the guitar part out of the song. Good job man.

  • cheers man!

  • I want your guitar. Check out my band playing i wanna be adored at band practice! Nice playing mate.

  • this is awesome, u make the stone roses sound better than they already are/were 5/5

  • Wow...thankyou very much, I'm just working on three more roses tracks should be on within the week. Thanks again!

  • wow, yay cant wait. youre great man keep it up :)

  • fuckin super

  • can you do sugar spun sister please? theres lots of bits in that i cant play. i know its easy chording but i'd like to see it played properly!

  • How strange...I was just playing it before I went on line..your right the chords are straight forward but he doesn't play it as you'd expect. I'll post it as soon as i've cracked it, won't be long!

  • im still waiting.. hmmmpph!!! 8..- (

  • Haven't had the time...it will come I assure you.. might get a chance this weekend..I've worked it out though which is a start!

  • eventually i got round to checking your stuff out....unbelievably good, inspiring but demoralising at the same time - I might be able to play fudged version of this on my 70th I reckon.

    take care mate

  • Great to hear from you bungus...if there's anything you had in mind, that you're learning at the moment I'd be more than happy to post a tutorial as long as it's not oasis or coldplay!!

  • Not being a Brit, i can't say something like, "Good job, mate!" or "Bloody Hell." But as an American lover of the Roses I can say, "Good goddamn, That's great!!" That goes double if you aren't John Squire using a pseudonym!! Bravo! :-D

  • i commented on your shoot you down cover, thought that was good. but this..... even though i play guitar and can play this song quite this is a different league!

  • FOOKIN AWESOME!!!!

  • Amazing playing that mate!! It's been said already but getting the sound that nailed on to how John plays it is beyond impressive work!

And sptol - this is being played on the bridge pick-up as Squire played it - and this hasn't changed from the original Gretch CG to the re-issue. It's only the neck pick-up thats different on Squire's and he didnt use it that often anyway - good news for us Roses heads who therefore don't need to spend £3500 on a 1964 model!

  • So what make was the bridge pickup. I might need to invest in one of those badboys :P

  • Ta for that...it also helps if you've got decent effects with which you can cheat to a certain degree..cheers

  • It's not cheating though mate - Squire was FX'd up to the eyeballs for the live and recorded versions so you'd never get the "Squire tone" without them. He even needed someone (Ste Cressa) to control the effects for him so you deserve double props for doing this without a Cressa!!

  • can't you explain it in a lesson, sounds wonderfull!!

  • Hi...what do you want explaining exactly?

  • what effects are you using?

amazing:D sorry i just really want to get that sound cause i've leant to play it but sounds crap atm

  • Hello..I used a boss gt6 multi-effects-Octaver,chorus,echo,compressor and distortion all thrown into the pot. The octaver is the key..it gives you the sound your after

  • Sounds like it could be an early roses demo it sounds THAT close to John.

  • What a complement..thank you very much.

  • omg amazing :O

  • well played my friend - nice country gentleman, to boot! 5 stars

  • Is your Gretsch 6122 CA CG a reissue or is it a vintage reason i ask is the reissue has Filtertron pickups and the vintage up to 1980 had Supertron pickups John Squire,s was a 1965 model and the sound had a lot to do with that instrument that was a superb sound you had identical to the studio version you couldnt have got it any closer i find Waterfall easy to play but my Gretsch doesnt sound as rich as that as its a reissue u playing thru a Fender Twin Reverb amp??

  • The Smiths y The Stone Roses mis bandas favoritas, buen cover

  • The fact that you play a country gent like the great man himself, is enough on it's own.

That was absoulutely wicked. are you playing through a Alesis midiverb?

  • This song has an amazing riff to it, and you nailed the cover. Nice one, mate!

  • appreciate that ..it is an awesome guitar part.

  • you nailed it !!

  • Cheers mate

  • hi mate bloody amazing ive seen loads of covers but there no way as good as this one.. what pedels are u using to get that sound cheers..

  • Using a Boss gt6-Echo, distortion, stereo chorus with a slight octave effect. Chuffed you enjoyed it

  • awesome..... sends shivers up my spine!!!!

  • Cool..glad you liked it!

  • holy shit, thats beautiful. Prefect job and sound! i should put that one up this week. 60 stars!

  • Just the 5 will do..thanks for rating!

  • hw much did u pay for ur chet atkins country gentlemen is it the 1961

  • It's a re-issue 'Country Classic'. They weren't allowed to call it a 'Country gentleman' I wish I had an original. But..it's still a fine machine..I paid £1100 on e-bay..as new.

  • thts orite like stil got tht unmistakable grestch sound to it i cant wait wait 2 get 1 i gt a les paul n an a strat im a massive squire fan 2

  • Very very very nicely played!! Same story here. The Roses are the reason why I play guitar (though I don't have such a Squiresque guitar as yours, mine's an Epiphone Casino). Cheers! Ander.

  • Cheers Ander..They must have spawned countless guitarists!

  • Thanks Neil..more to come when I get the time..the first part of the solo is the only part i'm not happy with. Because, on the record I assume it's a 12 string..which has a differrent feel

  • Amazing that my friend, nailed it. Im just learning that at the moment, finding the first part of the solo a bit tricky. Keep up the good work mate.

  • Hello again....I'll have to do more Stone Roses. They're the reason I play guitar today. Cheers denboy

  • bloody great tune!
