Hi mate, i just ordered one of these, do you format and install windows 7 like you do on a laptop and desktop? but using a usb.. as it doesn't have a disk drive. thanks :)

@M4tt0754 yes of course, use the Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool which can be downloaded at microsoft's site, this will make your usb bootable and then simply install it on your Eee :)

watching this in my asus eee 1201n in 1080p I get like 1 maybe 2 fps - when i bought it i was told it would run fullHD smoothly - mine can't even play the audio without glitching here and there, let alone the video

you should take care about your system, I can watch this video on my 1201N in 1080p and its ok. You should get some player with gpu acceleration and enable it, then 1080ps and Blu-Rays will be smooth :)

@XatriX1410 I tried downloading splash lite player and installed newest NVIDIA ion drivers and the video I'm watching here on youtube still doesn't play properly with 1080p. Is the splash player supposed to replace the youtube player or is it just a regular media player? Also, why does my Eee 1201n suck?

To watch 1080p videos on youtube you need to install newest flash player, I think its 10.1...and to play full HD movies and Blu-Ray movies get Media Player Classic Home Cinema, go to options -> playback -> output and select EVR (or EVR Custom Pres. if you want to play subtitles but every time you play video you get error information before playback, I didn't try to get that error out yet) + go to internal filters and make sure you have checked H264/AVC (DXVA) and VC1 (DXVA)

@benediktivars i recommend using splash lite for your mediaplaying. it has gpu acceleration which enables you to play close to any content you want. also, it has some nice functions such as being able to skip 10 seconds by using the keyboard arrows.

Awesome job. Thank you so much for that. Even though the ION platform is not really capable of managing hi-end games, still I was expecting to see the perfomance of GTA IV on it.

Actually I hear that next step in HD capabi;ity on mobile platforms is Nvidia Tegra 2 chipset. Really looking forward to seeing it in real action.

you're right, it has been choppy and I believe that it's because of flash beta 10.1. It has been happening also on my desktop computer...but 10.2 flash is out, didn't test it yet

@Champmeister91 The keyboard feels nice! It's very close to Apple's genius keyboard.. The mousepad, its OK, but in the end it's just way too small in my opinion.. It feels ok though, but for gaming or heavy use, I would definitely go for an external mouse.. Hope it helped :)

How's the .3 mega pixl web cam on your 1201n? Hoping Asus went with .3 rather then higher due to typical upload speed for video conf. is a bottle neck. Is the silver a finger print magnet like the black? Are you or thinking about running OSX on your 1201n?

everything about web cam is ok...about finger print, I had black netbook before this, and the difference is huge, it's hard to find there any finger prints on this silver version...but inside are some black plastic shiny places where you can see finger prints....I'm not thinking about trying OSX, I don't need to ;-)

yes I know, I tried ASROCK OC Tuner with ION preferences, it worked well but I didn't try how much is the oc potential, I just tried 1.8GHz and it worked :D it really doesn't need to be overclocked, underclocking would be better...

I paid 365€ for it (without tax, with tax it costs 436€ in my city's store(almost same as your 600$ I think...))

I have a Pentium M 2.0Ghz and I Underclock it with NHC- Notebook Hardware Controller. However I am using XP pro so it may Not work with Win7?

Also if you go to settings Power options in win7. Set Super performance, but Change the performance managment when Plugged in to 50%? or what ever u like?
