Most people don't know this, but Barbara was not a "dancer" when she began "I DREAM OF JEANNIE". She confessed to Charles Witbeck in a January 1966 newspaper interview, "'Baby elephant' isn't a dancer. When I dance, it's strictly for comedy". It wasn't until much later that she was able to perform something of a "belly dance" in her role as "Lalume" in a 1967 TV adaptation of "Kismet", and during a 1968 variety show [see "Barbara Eden Egyptian Dancing"].
