he's not playing malfuf or baladi. it's sombati, or wahda al saheera, a 4/4. Basically malfuf + another 2/4 of dum dum tek. think chiftetelli condensed to 4/4
Yes, I agree. Malfouf is a 2/4 rhythm and what he is playing is a 4/4. He's adding a D D T at the end. This phrase can be added every fourth time for belly dancers or when you're about to switch rhythms.
malfoof: listen to the vid, the drummer is actually right, seems to be adding an extra bit that takes up another bar DunDun Slap, but it does fit in the rhythm. embrace 2/4 learn it, fill it, solo it! :)
not malfuf - sounds like fanga to me

Malfoof has a time of 2/4. He's playing a 4/4 rhythm that is NOT beledi (Masmoudi Sahgir)
Lehmann108 3 years ago
its baladi actually:)
sentinell100 3 years ago
I think you are wrong. it actualy is malfoof. The accents are very characteristic.

The first part is malfoof but then he adds two more 1/4 notes and he has a 4/4 which is not mafoof.
Lehmann108 3 years ago
That´s not Malfoof, but Baladi.
By the way: cute doumbek ;)
