Now he has an interesting view on life as he reflects during his day job as a street sweeper; "Why be king? the power is only that of a lonely puppet in the scheme of life altogether."

This song is brilliant, more than just lyrically. The feel of it is perfect.

This song is all about an History student who's girlfriend left him. But everyone thinks it's about some famous historical personality. Coldplay planned it that way, and revealed it, once, in an interview several years ago.

Hence, the song is about ALL OF US! :)
