If you do the same thing with the rim of a glass bottle, it is easier to get right, and it's also VERY LOUD. Perhaps a good note for survival situations, as beer bottles seem even more plentiful in the forest than cans or acorns, sadly.

that holding is pretty lame... the best thing is to hold your hand into fist, and put the acorn between the 2nd and 3th fingers - its hurt your fingers and require practice, but its really really strong whistle. another tip - the smaller the acorn it will be easier to use it.

If you have a plastic bag, you can make a hole in it with your finger. Then stretch the plastic really hard with your hands so that the hole stretches out, then put the hole up to your mouth so that your lower lip is on the plastic and ur upper lip in the hole.. and then blow! Sounds like hell!

That does work for everyone except me lol..its so infuriating lol...but in a survival situation, you need a loud high pitched whistle, not a lower hum style whistle noise if that makes sense? Its hard to explain it lol...you have to help me learn how to do it your way tho..I feel bad when I am the only one who cant do it

this is similar to the whistle I can do with my hand, you cup your hands together and move your thumb like in this video and you make a sort of mouth piece with your thumbs and blow in. It more of a Bird call than a whistle, you can change the pitch of the hand whistle by moving your fingers too. Cool vid
