  • Uli, PLEASE come to Ohio!

  • I love the Stratocaster too.

Ritchie Blackmores guitar of choice and no one sounds better.

Try listening to Deep Purple now with Steve Morses` guitar squeeling sounds dreadfull. Uli Roth is good.

  • Yeah, I checked out Fair Warning. Like a KMart Scorpions act. Comparing that garbage to Uli Roth is laughable. Sorry. Just my $.02 worth.

  • I disagree completely. Uli in my opinion is at his best now. His sky guitar is superior to his strat, and though I agree his better albums were from the older days, he is still making great records and he always is progressing and avoiding falling into the nostalgia trap that many other older rockers do. I love everything he's done pretty much.

  • This was the first gig I ever went to and this is the first song played. I used to have a tape recording of this. Wow. the wonders of Youtube!!! Thanks Axe

  • Very true from people blow Sky guitar sounds like a big bag of fresh turd, compared to when he used strat. Sky on recent albums & tours sounds lke a electric saw singing harp with thin sound.

  • Uli in one of the greatest guitarist ever!

  • @Thirdgen83 and pepper123

    AMEN!!!

i mean, just listen to this short example of Uli's mastery, he's a legend! let's worship this great humble man!

    Go on Uli...!

  • Uli is such a great player!!

He's the white Hendrix! and his vibrato is AMAZING!!!

go on Uli! Hope to see you this year in Frankfurt again :)

  • His Strats sound sounded so much better than that awful "Sky Guitar"...

  • @Thirdgen83 I hate to say it, but I agree- The Strat sound was aggresive to the max!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Thirdgen83 the first Sky guitar sounded alright , the latest 7 string 6 octave one sounds SHI-ITE like an electric saw. BeyondAstralSkies was his best sounding guitar work, a lot was done on strat, some on Sky1 guitar. So much more intensity in playing & richness in sound, compared to thin sounding twangy tone on recent work.

  • Oh my! This fucking kills. When Uli first appears out of the smoke and red lights, strumming those opening chords, it reminds me of Jimi at Monterey. But, that solo is miles beyond anything Hendrix could compose. Uli is Jimi meets Beethoven.

  • Yeah, Uli had given his 6-string Sky guitar to his friend Helge Engelke (guitarist in Fair Warning), but Helge made his own 7-string guitar and gave Uli back the 6-stringer. Anyone who likes Uli and Michael Schenker should check out Fair Warning. Ule Ritgen (bass player from Electric Sun & Zeno, as well as one of Uli's closest friends) is their main songwriter. With Tommy Heart on vocals, they're amazing!

  • Does anybody know if the Electric Sun albums still are available?

  • Always nice to hear Uli's prev work. PLEASE Uli if you ever read this, return to your strat and your rock sound, it was miles better then.

Thnx Axe for another treasure post!

  • He says he can still get the old strat tone, if he wants to, because he still has the same marshall that he used at the time. He also has a six-string sky guitar that he uses for Hendrix covers and alike.

  • Thank you!
