Thanks, the memory configuration is a very good idea! i ordered Crucial 4GB x2 Ram chips for £30 and the memory configuration process helped me navigate to what was supported on my machine :) (Dell Inspiron 15r, 2.67 GHz Intel i5, 4 GB RAM version)

RAM is the system memory of your computer (used for operating systems etc) disk space is for stuff you download (programs, music etc) And no 2GB of ram is fine, most computers have about 2 - 4. Modern supercomputers can have 24gb of ram though D:

@Rangha2000 Ah, for that one I went to the electronics store, and told them I was interested in buying RAM - they look up your specific model before telling you which specific kind... (i.e. I need PC 8500 1066mhz). My brother's MAC laptop can only go up to 4 but he put in my newly bought 8 gigs just to see and it recognized all 8 but there was no difference between 4 or 8 (obviously there would be a dramatic change)... nevertheless it's not a good to go beyond what you should :)

I opened up my laptop to check out my ram. I took it out, looked at it, and put it in again. I started up the laptop, and suddenly, it was superquick! I decided to test the ram, and it was awesome! (I didn't change any ram) three seconds later I noticed that the "properties" screen showed 1 GB, not 2 GB. the second ram stick was loose, and when I put it back in, it was back to the normal, kinda slow self..

I just upgraded my desktop from 4 GB to 8 GB, but there really doesn't seems to be any difference on loading. It reqognize them under my system icon in windows, and says 8 GB. What can be wrong?

@Hokrollo1 your computer speed probably doesn't read everything as fast. if anything you should make sure any bloatware is gone, MANY of us have programs we don't use or never use, that load up all the time, and when I reinstalled Windows (don't recommend that, you can just uninstall the programs) my computer booted up much faster.

@Hokrollo1 Nothing. You did the right thing. Theres not much of a performance difference between 4 and 8gb's of ram due to the fact that...well...your computer doesn't really USE 8gb of ram on start up. And 4gb of ram was already a dual channel config (meaning both ram slots were using equal amounts of ram) so bumping it up to 8gb's didn't change much until you try to run 5943 different games at the same time. Ive got 8gb's of ram and i've barely gone over 4ish. Hope I helped.

@MrAmmo30 model doesn't matter but it is best to get one with the same latency and frequency, otherwise all of them wil have the higher latency(bad) and a lower frequency(bad) use speccy to find out the latency and frequency
