When objects are heated they expand and when they are cooled they contract. Its all part of the partical theory and states of matter. And cause the plastic was preety thin so it sort of melted from the inside. The top of the jug expanded cause of the boiling water and the slippery survace of the egg added a little help as well as the water vapor from the water.
