To understand the nature of the Ayatollah Khomeini, Google his Hadith, a supposedly holy book, he wrote shortly before his death. In this "holy book", Khoemeini explicitly lays out how girls as young as one (that's 1) year-old "may be used for sexual pleasure". In his own obscene words, he lays out the steps for sexual gratification from an infant. This is the head cleric of Islam in Iran doing this in a book published throughout the muslim world, and has never been repudiated by Iran.

@786junaki Islams violent history long pre-dates the existence of the U.S and U.K. Islamic armies were marching into Europe in 732 AD on a mission of conversion. Islam and Christianity are very similar religions, and both have a violent streak. I personally put this down to the fact that they both claim to be the one true religion, rather like Judaism. As far as I am aware the only truely peaceful abrahamic religion is the Bahá'í Faith.

That means that normal people do not commit rape not because the women are so heavily clothed, but because it is wrongful. The moderate majority will then get lumped in the same camp as the fundamentalists. You end up with westerners believing that all muslims want the world to become Islamic, genocide on a mass scale of all non-believers, Sharia law for all, etc.

To understand the nature of the Ayatollah Khomeini, Google his Hadith, a supposedly holy book, he wrote shortly before his death. In this "holy book", Khoemeini explicitly lays out how girls as young as one (that's 1) year-old "may be used for sexual pleasure". In his own obscene words, he lays out the steps for sexual gratification from an infant. This is the head cleric of Islam in Iran doing this in a book published throughout the muslim world, and has never been repudiated by Iran.

I'm Muslim, and from IRAN. We don't hate Rushdie, simply because the Satanic Verses is banned there, with no possible translation. So, I really can't hate Rushdie because I, and a large majority of Iranians, have not read the book. Also, I am apathetic toward religion, so I would not give a shit either way. Khomeini issued the Fatwa, and therefore acuused the whole Iranian nation of despising Rushdie.
That said, I extremely disliked the book, and not for religious reasons-after I read it-LOL.

@786junaki Islams violent history long pre-dates the existence of the U.S and U.K. Islamic armies were marching into Europe in 732 AD on a mission of conversion. Islam and Christianity are very similar religions, and both have a violent streak. I personally put this down to the fact that they both claim to be the one true religion, rather like Judaism. As far as I am aware the only truely peaceful abrahamic religion is the Bahá'í Faith.

Jefferson was an avid reader, he was multi-lingual but he didn't speak arabic and no record shows that he ever had spoken any form of Arabic, he did have a book arabic though so you could say he dabbled. But by your logic you would have to say he also knew Welsh, Gaelic and so on though he never spoke those languages. The languages Jefferson had to use professionally were: Greek, Latin, Italian, French and English I believe also Spanish.

He has a systematic approach of learning probably to understand what he was studying better. It would require more than dabble to understand what he was reading. Now to my knowledge American Historians agree that Jefferson was fluent in many languages but Arabic was not one of them – I’m sorry to break that to you.
