Mr Smiths, Manchester summer 1970 went like this on the dance floor : James Brown "Sex Machine", Equals "Black Skinned Blue Eyed Boys" and Free "All Right Now" then Mungo Jerry "In The Summertime". Please, does anyone else remember this sequence? I would love to hear from you. The sweat used to drip from the ceiling whilst you were on the dancefloor.
hey alphabetcity1,i luv the movie "klute"thnx for the remind.also check out "hang on in there "by the Stovall Sisters, same era different club, the "loft". i am also a laura nyro freak, she is very much missed.keep me posted
No , it sure is'nt Ska...Another difficult - to- classify Equals song. It's Funky , but with a harder guitar sound. Derv , as usual , sings with more gusto than many latter day Soul fans can appreciate , but it's got Soul. I'd say ealy 70's Rock'n'Soul.

Just to confirm ,yes that really is Eddy grant, he is on vocals, the others are Derv, Lincoln and Pat on guitars, and My Cousin John hall on drums, when they put out this number Eddy, Derv, and Lincoln dyed their hair blond, bit of a shock when they turned up at my house for breakfast!!!!
Pretty much a perfect song!!!
