  • this shir ia awesome

  • You guys sure know how to entertain!

  • sharp bass... what brand??

  • It has an aluminum body and was probably made by the "Aluminum Musical Instrument Company" of Ann Arbor, Michigan about 75 years old. David recently bought a new set of strings for it, but it sounds so good with old strings, he is afraid to change them. It still has the same strings that were on it when he got it 30 years ago.

  • my uncle has one that he made himself. it sounds great.

  • Karentrevor If you have nothing nice to say, then don't say anything at all.

    Your very rude!

    shane mario

  • not even close to what bluegrass is this will make MR MONROE ROLL OVER IN HIS GRAVE. VERY POOR........................

  • Hi karentrevor,

    I know what you mean.

We really did this as a spoof on a popular rock song from 1970, called "Funk 49."

    Thanks,

    Steve

  • wow

  • Awesome.

  • Very swelligent!

Sounds great, and it looks like everyone had lots of fun in the process. Plus, I'm loving the art etched on the guitars. Looks like it would be really intricate close up! Very cool.

  • This is why people think bluegrass is corny. way to put on a retarted looking performance.

  • Funny take on the James Gang. Awesome Bob Wills holler slipped in too...

  • That is a pretty sweet sounding resonator in that ole' Dobro...It looks freaking awesome too! It's good to see some good Arkansas folks having a time playing Bluegrass. Ya'll should cover some Jimmy Driftwood.

  • this is super cool!!!

  • You guys are good, and have got a great combo of instruments going here. Keep it up!!!!

  • Nice dobro outtake... Joe would be proud.. yowsa

  • Hey that's one of those old aluminum upright basses, isn't it?

  • Yes, its an antique aluminum bass. The entire body is aluminum with a normal wooden neck. It has a great sound. It's pretty tough too, and doesn't seem to require any special treatment. David carries it in the back of his pickup truck. David prefers to not carry it in the rain, but I doubt it would hurt it.

  • Is that a baby Martin guitar you are playing.

  • That's my favorite guitar to play. Its from the Martin Custom Shop. An artist cut two stencils for me - one for the black paint & the other for the white paint. I sent the stencils to Martin, and they sprayed paint through them onto a OOO-M. I think they didn't mind trying this as an experiment, because they were contemplating making their own cowboy guitars. This was back in 1995. They have since made five different production Cowboy models, and I have at least one of each of them too.

  • Spitze Lied !!

  • Super Sound

  • comical but good.

  • VERY COOOOLLL!!! :)

  • ha...too cool for words!

  • Y'all surely rock! Thanks for subscribing to widowmakerbluegrass. The favor is returned.*****

  • Ha, this is pretty cool. An interesting and high classed Blue Grass parody on the James Gang, Funk #49.

The glossed white dog house Bass, impressive.

    Rated, Subscribed.

  • Perhaps you missed another opportunity for the saw? Can't get enough!!!

  • The video style is spot on !! Great stuff

  • I believe I'm...

    one 4th shits

    one 4th grins

    one 4th lmao

and one 4th shakin' my head in disbelief lol

I head the riff I kind of shook my head in disbelief thinking there was no way I just heard what i heard

Then the vocals came in and clinched it lol

You all get the Doc creativeity of the year award for this one

    Too Cool ! ! !

  • I humbly accept the "Doc Creativeity of the Year Award" on behalf of the group. lol

Thanks Doc - for the great comment!

  • Of course so, i can totally hear it! Hehe..

Aluminum eh? Now i've gotta look into that, sounds interesting! Thanks.

  • Yep, these folks bring to us some great sounds. I've been listenin' to the crossroads vid too. Awesome band! Great instruments and vocals! Could listen to this for quite a spell.

  • didn't think of it, please...what's new, Everything can be made into bluegrass or punk. now, let's hear Micheal Jackson's Billy Jean, or Dark Side of the Moon in it's entirety, or anything else at all, it's really not a big far out to think of,figure out and play, lets have it.

Nice looking group, what kind of bass is that fella? Nice tone. You all sound good.

  • Thanks for the comments. "Dark Side Of The Moon?" Maybe so.

We like David's bass too. It is probably 75 years old. It has an aluminum body and might have been made by the "Aluminum Musical Instrument Company" of Ann Arbor, Michigan. I don't know what the original color was, but it had been refinished white.

  • There's some work goes into these! - Brilliant results - Gorgeous vocals.

    Many thanks!

    Barry

  • Hey Barry,

Thanks for the kind comment. I guess there was some work involved, but it was so much fun - no, come to think of it, it was strictly fun and no work.

    Steve

  • Nice !!

  • ingenious! Who would have thought a James Gang hit would work as blue grass? Joe Walsh would certainly be proud!

  • I'm diggin this. Great job.

  • Very cool.

  • Oh, I get it... Ol' bluegrass Funk#49. Can you do that? isn't there some musical state law against that or something?? I mean, has the music police been chasing you guys? Doesn't this throw some kinda kink in the musical fabric of the universe or something... I guess I'm jealous I didn't think of it... anyway... I LOVE IT!!

    Billo

  • Hi, Wife of Nansir hear. I LOVE your videos your soooo good. Lori is great she makes me laugh! Please make more I'm hooked!

  • Thanks. You can't help but smile when you are around Lori, and her Dad.

Hey, I've seen your videos - you and your husband sound great. Love that James Taylor stuff, especially when done so professionally.

  • this song seems very worked, one of my favorite with "doctor my eyes";good idea for "man of constant sorrow"

  • Hey ED, Thanks for the compliments. My brother and I know how to play "Man of Constant Sorrows." I'll bring up the idea to the rest of the group and see what they think.

    Thanks, Steve

  • Thanks for the sub or I'd never have found you, best stuff I've heard in a long while, cheers.

  • wow.....nice!!

  • Nice work folks keep up the great work!! Nice sound. Very Cool!!!

    Lisa

  • Brilliant again!!!

  • Very good 5 stars. Your group is as good as it gets.

  • You are too kind. Thanks!

  • Love the song great vocals and muscians. I have watched it about 15 times already. I cant stop singing it. Give us more!

  • Thanks for the great compliment!

  • This is excellent stuff. Really well played, too. On a different note, thanks for subscribing.

  • the man on the right changes his guitar

  • I love it! Good stuff! Waiting for the next one.

  • ..just a bit of constructive criticism. The chord progression is super weak, the change is boring, the lyrics are, well.. dumb. The only thing you had going was the indian chick..until the hand sign, (which is a dig at Natives, for those who didnt catch that)..I don't know..I don't care, but besides all that the music is cheap, and the gimmicks are lame.

...I'm sure it's not just my opinion.

  • And you're a nothing punk with an empty life and

no substance..it's people like you that will get the internet regulated. Tell ya what..go check your Myspace, I think you have a hot chick that wants to be friends waiting ..loser

  • Pull your pants up

  • I love this song and Lori is awesome band is great Hope I can find some more videos of this group

  • lol lori is soo cute.

  • This is fanastic. There are a lot of acts that try and do this kind of thing, these guys are among the very few that do it right.

  • Love this vid! and the song is always in my head! haha great job ! xox

    Jessie

  • are you serious?....you need to find James Gang's version of this

  • Great music and love the tri-cone!!

  • wow, steve!! you are just full of suprises! how wonderfully talented you are! great video, so send me some more!!!

  • I agree, Lori and Amy are similar

    Funny vid :D

  • Lori Lee looks like amy alot :)

  • Is that Lori as in Amy Lee's little sister Lori? She's got a great voice! Are we going to hear more from her?

  • Yes, Lori Lee is a wonderful singer. Lori and John (her Dad) sounded like angels when they were singing harmony for this song. You would be amazed if you could hear only their parts without the rest of the music.

It was a lot of fun making this video and we are talking about doing another in the near future.

  • Hey Guys...Don't you think you need a FIDDLE player, too? Great job. Love the mandolin and the dobro!

    Lisa Dicus

  • Lisa, that's not a bad idea. I'll keep you in mind. Thanks for watching.

  • And just to think I knew Steve (guitar) when he was selling me guitars and amps at his music store. Great job guys!

    Butch Dicus

  • I enjoyed that thanks

  • great timing and harmony just don't care too much for the rock and roll

  • Lots of joy here! Like that Bass!

  • I feel like I'm at The Spare Room in Painesville Lanes.

  • Now appearing in a sitting room near you! Very nice sound.

  • yep...ya'lls cool...done Joe proud im sure

  • This makes my day every time I watch and listen! I've watched it many times and see something new each time - today it was when Steve switched from the cowboy guitar to the dobro for the Hot Solo! Just a lot of wholesome fun to enjoy and great musicianship too. Thanks.

  • Incredible! You guys are great!

Somehow, I think Joe and the rest of the James Gang would totally dig it!

    Thank you!

  • This is great!!

  • man who is that indian girl... i think she's pretty hot!

  • Yup, she's a pretty girl. And is more talented than us cowboys. If we do another video, we will ask her to sing lead.

  • Great job! Loved it, do some more of these

  • That was SO much fun!!! You all sound great. Very nice instruments. You just can't go wrong with a bunch of black-hatted bad guys and a Native American corn shaker.

  • When will we see "Smoky Mountain Way"?

  • Very neat concept , I liked it a lot

  • Awesome! Loved it. Not only is it a good perormance, but the costumes and instruments are fun to look at. Those are some killer instruments! Post more!
