It's not quite clear when he was born, but according to certain verses in the Bible, it must have been in the warmer months. The church picked December 25th because many (and I do mean MANY) pagan celebrations were on that same day. Also, many modern Christmas traditions, like mistletoe, Christmas trees, and giving gifts, originated in these pagan holidays. So, with that said, happy Saturnalia to you my friend!

If God created the law that everything He creates needs to have both cause and effect to exist, then He exists outside of that law. Therefore, God does not need a creator or purpose, only His creations do. If God is perfect, no natural laws the universe is subjected to have any effect on Him.

It's not quite clear when he was born, but according to certain verses in the Bible, it must have been in the warmer months. The church picked December 25th because many (and I do mean MANY) pagan celebrations were on that same day. Also, many modern Christmas traditions, like mistletoe, Christmas trees, and giving gifts, originated in these pagan holidays. So, with that said, happy Saturnalia to you my friend!

I'm celebrating the solstice and enjoy giving gifts to friends and family and having a good meal, In the spirit of the season it is wonderful to see people being good to one another. It happens to have come from a religious background, but you don't have to believe in the mythology to be able to enjoy it and be thankful.

Just because someone studied the Bible, took a test and got an A on it doesn't mean that they're instantaneously intelligent. I attended a Christian school for 10 years and my GPA was higher than that of a public schoolkid for the simple matter that I read a book and knew what was in it. It's like literature or mythology class, but devoted to one fictional story.

We have learnt a lot about the universe in the last 100 years or so that we never knew before. Our knowledge keeps growing thanks to science and the study of the evidence. We will probably never know all the answers but the gaps for ID are getting smaller and smaller.

And especially if his existence is just as likely as the world existing simply by accident and not from his creation, then wouldn't the world existing as a result of his existence be just as likely as god existing?

ok, you proved that god existence dont helps the complexity problem... but this additional step (god) becomes a symbol that we can deform: god is infinite - the alfa and omega. The reality (universe) being infinite just doesnt sounds good, but something that you can't see as infinite sounds good... or at least more cryptical enough to give you a headache and you give up looking for answers. @luxord2654

If God created the law that everything He creates needs to have both cause and effect to exist, then He exists outside of that law. Therefore, God does not need a creator or purpose, only His creations do. If God is perfect, no natural laws the universe is subjected to have any effect on Him.

But if this is the case, then who's to say that this perfect being was even conscious of what he/she/it was doing? Or that it even made the universe with intention? If god actually cared about us, then he wouldn't make the earth with so much potential energy for earthquakes, or tsunamis, tornadoes, etc. You know what I mean? Something that exists outside of physics does not = God.
