@SuperBraymond In IL, you need a motorcycle license (class L for <150cc), plates, & insurance for this. The only way you can get around that is if it's an actual moped (with PEDALS!), but they can't go faster than 30mph in one mile. Check your DMV for your state's laws on scooter laws. IL really is cracking down on getting as much cash as possible from us scooterists.

LOL, the truth is, the FA50 is speedy for a moped, with its two-stroke engine is faster than, say, the Honda Super Cub (the most popular moped in the world). Try the FR80 version, if you're a small rider like myself you'll be surprising everyone.

Why would you put mobil 1 into it? It is a 2 stroke and the oil goes in the tank under the seat and get's burnt along in the gas. You don't have any oil to change, you just top it up as it burns with the fuel.

i have a 1984 red fa50 with 69,000 miles on 6 rebuilds!! im rebuilding for the 7th time and putting on all new rubber, brakes and a whole new fuel system, and im dumping the shitty cdi ignition and replacing it with a ford duraspark ignition (only because the bike goes 20 mph and is revv limted and the ford box is not) and im converting it to 12 volts

I have the FS-50, it's quite similar. Most of the parts interchange with the FA50 except frame work, but the engine, transmission, wheels, ignition system, car and everything interchange.

It's a shame I haven't taken the time to get it running. It needs a new ignition coil and petcock.

I've never seen an FS50 except in photos...Perhaps they were not offered here in the States. I have seen a few FZ50's at shows,however. I hope you can get your FS running again. These are fun vehicles and I think they should be kept in nice runnning order if possible. I now own 2 of the FA50's - - Great fun.

It's was my Grandpa's and it only has 599 miles on it, and he bought it here in Missouri. I got it running a little today, but upon pushing on the gas it bogs out.. plus I need to have the choke on to keep it running. I have cleaned the carb, and fuel cock. After having it for over a year I downloaded the Manual and read about the reed valve. Someone even mentioned on a forum that even a blade of grass can affect it. Sure enough, mine had a rock stuck in it!! I'm assembling and testing tomorrow.

I have one just like it. It is a 1980 ...first-year model, (made 1980-1991). Get an air filter for it. These won't run right without one! To the ass near the end of the video who tried to pump-start it with his hand...YOU NEED TO HOLD IN THE LEFT-HAND LEVER before the starter will catch. Treat it with respect...It's nearly 30 years old and still can be a nice little bike with some care.
